Grates the hardest cheese in seconds! It’s so fast, we keep grating too much even with the view to the inside. The only complaint, and it’s very minor, is that it’s difficult to get your hand inside of the grater. Shouldn’t be an issue with a dishwasher but hand washing is tight.

OK, I have to admit - I have not purchased the product I am about to review. And here is whyMicroplane,When I wanted to take a closer look at your box grater, the one with four (4) sides - each one supposedly different, the main page for that product does have 4 different pictures, however, they all display the same side of the grate- in short, a complete waste. There is a description of different grate patterns of the product but you know what they say, " A picture is worth a thousand words".Well, in this case, we've got all 5 thousand words not worth a look (or a read).

I don't usually write reviews for products I purchase on Massdrop but this was such a colossal piece of literal garbage, I couldn't help but to write this.I love Microplane's products. I have a flat-plane grater and a zester that have been in my kitchen arsenal for nearly a decade. Color me excited when I saw this on Massdrop and couldn't wait to grab it.Opening the box with this products inside was the single most disappointing thing I've done in a long time (a little hyperbole for you, there). The blades are made out of miserable metal that literally bends when you start grating. The body is cheap plastic that just plain doesn't do the job. The plastic isn't lined up properly and is barely fused together, the "collection tray" was so poorly fit, I had to struggle to get it off the first time, and the metal graters aren't properly seated in the frame.I can't recommend enough that folks not buy this grater; I have no idea how it has eight positive reviews here. Please make sure you read the "Discussions" section above and disregard the Massdrop Reviews as there is no way anyone received this and thought, "This was a great way to spend $28." I ended up going to Amazon and buying a different all-metal grater for $26 and am significantly happier with the purchase (I won't say which here so I'm not accused of trying to sell another product).Again, please, do not buy this product. This grater is really difficult to clean. There is a small gap between the metal and the plastic housing that traps cheese. On the fine grating side, the two strips of grate are too narrow for your average Parmesan so it is inefficient. The black handle at the top snapped at less than 1 year of use. The only nice thing about this grater is that it is very sharp. At this price point the design flaws are unacceptable - choose a different one.
DO NOT BUY. I love grating beets and carrots for salads and the part of the blade for veggies/ or potatoes slope is off and it is so difficult. I should have kept my basic grater. I got this for my wedding registry and wish I could get refunded. Will be donating it because it is not worth space in my kitchen.
Exceptionally sharp blades, my husband cut himself the first time he washed it 😄. The grater has a large comfortable handle, it holds well. We have also been using a parmesan grater from this brand for a while now, it serves very well. (Automatically translated by DeepL)
This is a good idea in theory - in practice it’s a bit clumsy to open after grating into it. Kind of messy. Also, while it’s very good with cheese, my traditional box grater is about as good with cheese and better with all veggies. So, I’ll keep it as a second grater for when I have helpers in the kitchen, but I’ll remove the annoying door at the bottom. It allows for measuring- but just not worth the hassle when time to empty.
I am not very happy with this grater. I bought it to replace my 15 year old grater that’s only just given up on me. This new one doesn’t cut well and it is very hard to clean as it is enclosed at the top. You have to really use a lot of muscle and push the food piece hard up against the blade to cut, which is tiring and dangerous (cut myself already). I wouldn’t recommend and I am thinking of returning.
Like other reviewers on C&B and WS, this microplane is junk. It's clear why Microplane changed the design completely. I suspect it's a known design flaw. While it says "blade made in USA," it's assembled in China. The plastic is cheap. The pictures are the result of me pulling the grater out of a draw, the handle breaking, and the base shattering in on the floor. One of the large metal sides hit me in the leg (thankfully I was wearing jeans) when it exploded. It's clear that the thin plastic at the top of the grater broke close to the tabs that lock the handle into place. Once broken, the handle will not stay latched and therefore not stay attached to the entire grater box.One thing positive to say about this grater is that it is extremely sharp. Which is great until you realize that the design flaw makes it potentially dangerous.
I wanted to replace a 10 year old Microplane grater. They're expensive but really good. or so I thought. because its closed at the top, its more difficult to clean but its viciously sharp. But its not fit for purpose. the main grater lack stiffness and flexes which means grating carrot or cheese impossible. They have clearly tried to save costs by using too thin metal or too weak plastic, but they have rendered the product broadly uselessDo not buy
