Amazing Laptop!

I purchased the Surface Laptop 4 with a Ryzen 7, 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. I had purchased an “excellent” condition laptop that did not have the charger in the box, so I was expecting some issues. This laptop is in beautiful condition. I can find no scuffs, scratches, dings, blemishes or even fingerprints on this device. It looks like a brand-new laptop and the charger was in the box. Even though I did not have the fun of a full unboxing experience, I am amazed that I was able to pick this unit up for a third of what mint would have cost. I’m glad I took the gamble. My first impression was this is a beautiful device. The matte black finish and urban design give it a premium look and feel. It feels well balanced and light for its’ size. The screen lid lifts with one finger revealing a backlit keyboard with three (four if you count no light) levels of brightness. The keys are ever so slightly cupped with a shallow but satisfying amount of travel and the angled base provides a comfortable landing space for my wrists when typing.Something that is annoying about this laptop is how the ports are located on the lower body. The way the bevel is makes it difficult to connect to all the limited ports. Even the charging port is a struggle. I find that I need to tilt the laptop up so I can get things to connect. The PixelSense touch screen is bright and slightly reflective. It works with my finger and the three generations of Surface pens that I have. There are magnets in the lids right and left corners so my Slim pen lives there. I have brightness set at 50% and can easily view everything in a normal light. The colors are vibrant and crisp on either light or dark mode. The camera is very nice and can be used for Windows Hello. This option allows the laptop to unlock in a heartbeat and is something Apple should and to their models. The screen bezels are thick when compared to other laptop screens at the normal price point and the only thing that detracts from the viewing experience. Even with the thick bezels there is plenty of viewing room on this 15" screen. The Ryzen 7 is snappy and even with only 8GB of RAM it has been able to handle the programs (Photoshop, Sketchup, and the Microsoft suite) I need to use for my workflow. After my initial device set up there were 474GB available for storage. The storage uses NVMe SSD and I do not see lag when working.I would say that I was the winner on this purchase. So far my expectations have been exceeded and I would say that Best Buy surpassed the quality standards that described this laptop. This would be a great laptop for a student or businessperson. I would recommend it and would encourage checking out even laptops listed as “Satisfactory”. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I bought this gorgeous laptop on the weekend after having used a Surface Pro for some years and I can't believe what I've been missing! This is super light, beautiful looking and not as fiddly as the Surface Pro. I was concerned about the large 15" screen making the laptop too heavy but I can't believe how much grunt and size they've managed to fit into such a light package. The keyboard is beautiful to type on and trackpad extremely responsive, right out of the box. As I use O365 there is hardly any real customisation to do, just downloaded a PDF reader and a couple of other things. Can't recommend this highly enough. Also, the service from JB Hi Fi was beyond brilliant. Far better than I expected

I bought this with a slight crack in the screen. Its invisible at almost every viewing angle I use. I can only see it when opening the laptop with the screen at like a 60 degree angle with the keyboard. The laptop itself is sleek. Almost too slim. If you wanted to impress people, clients or future employees, having this sitting on their desk would do it. I loaded fortnight and played with no lag. The fan runs a lot with gaming. I dont plan to game on it, just wanted to test it. I went from a surface book 1 to this. The surface book 1 is still pretty good just the processor is getting old. The sound quality, camera and casing are great the screen on the surface book 1 is still just as good as this after 5 years. So I bought Microsoft again Because of that. These devices are worth the prices new, so getting them used in good shape is incredible.

First time owning a Microsoft laptop and LOVE IT!
11 February 2023

I LOVE this machine! My older Dell laptop (also a Best Buy purchase) was stolen in San Francisco along with my backpack and some other items. I had to replace my work laptop no matter what so I immediately had gone back to Best Buy to check what was newly available and I came across this Microsoft surface unit although in a different color. I love it for its size and light weight. It does lack an extra USB slot Bar on the flipside is very svelte using only a USB-C charger port which allows me to only carry a minimal charge cable which I love. The keyboard types nicely and the trackpad has a very nice action to it. I’ve been using it for about a month but I’m def keeping it. I love the color and look and the touch screen was a must. Bought this back in April when my old laptop died my first day on a new job. I would normally prefer more memory (at least 16 GB) and storage (at least 1 TB), but for work purposes, the 8 GB of RAM and the 512 GB SSD are plenty. As with Apple computers, there's something to be said for the same company making both the hardware and the software. This Surface laptop performs smoothly, with none of the problems you'd expect to encounter when the OS has to accommodate a zillion different possible configurations of hardware and software. Good keyboard action, too—and excellent battery life. Good keyboard action, too—and excellent battery life. The inclusion of both USB-A and USB-C ports (one each) is a nice touch—no need for an adaptor to use existing backup drives.I would suggest three minor improvements, though:1. Oddly enough, now that Apple has switched to USB-C charging, Microsoft has implemented something similar to Apple's old MagSafe charger. It's not as sturdy, though. Whereas Apple's MagSafe required considerable force to accidentally disconnect, it seems the slightest movement will disconnect Microsoft's charger. That's probably a good thing insofar as it protects the cable from damage, but it can be inconvenient if you're working away under the assumption that your battery is charging when you've really got only 15% left.2. The lack of an indent at the front of the computer, combined with the Windows/Surface logo being four squares, makes it harder to tell where to open the lid.3. A keyboard backlight would be helpful.Microsoft—who knew?

Most Unreliable Computer I’ve Owned

First impressions were great. It’s a nicely constructed thin and light laptop with decent performance. The trackpad is amazing and the keyboard is excellent. For the first week or so of ownership I had absolutely zero issues with this laptop. Battery life was excellent, screen was great, was pretty snappy and it seemed perfectly reliable until today. Today it got a random blue screen so I installed blue screen view to read the dump file and there wasn’t one. Ran an sfc scan and a dism scan health operation and nothing was wrong. Used the laptop a bit more then put it to sleep. An hour later I heard the Windows 11 bootup chime and low and behold, the laptop crashed in sleep mode and rebooted. Used the laptop a bit more then put it to sleep. An hour later I heard the Windows 11 bootup chime and low and behold, the laptop crashed in sleep mode and rebooted. I figured maybe an update bricked the OS so I attempted to reinstall windows via the built in reset. I chose the cloud reinstall option because I assumed it would give me the latest stable fresh Windows 11 build. It crashed again 40% through the download. No biggie, I’ll just reboot to recovery, enter my bitlocker recovery key, and choose cloud reinstall again. Nope. So I resorted to a local reinstall. Fully cleaned the drive, setup the Surface again, signed into my WiFi, my Microsoft account, chose to restore settings and files from OneDrive, installed an update and then got to the desktop. Boom! Immediate BSOD and again no dump file after restart. I wanted to give Microsoft a chance after I had horrible experiences with my corporate issued Surface Pro 3 from ages ago. But it seems several years later, Microsoft can’t cut it being a first party manufacturer for THEIR OWN OPERATING SYSTEM! It’s honestly pathetic. I will be returning this laptop promptly and getting a refund. At least my Xbox Series S and X work fine.

Runs well, shattered screen, TERRIBLE customer service
17 August 2021

I am completely appalled at the poor quality of the physical body of the new Microsoft Surface Laptop 4. After much deliberation between the Laptop 4 vs MacBook Air, my husband and I decided on the Laptop 4. BIGGEST MISTAKE in product choice and now customer service experience. No dropping, no trauma to the computer. One minute, it's perfect. In its closed state, the laptop was tapped to point it out for someone to it. The next minute, the computer is opened to a cracked and shattered screen. We purchased this just over 2 months ago, and Microsoft Customer Service is telling me I need to pay $499 for a replacement with a refurbished computer, even though the site states that is when we damaged it ourselves. Despite explaining that we did not cause trauma to the Laptop to result in such a broken screen, the customer service agent basically called me a liar because "there is no way a screen would have cracked like that without trauma." In the end, he said to go ahead and leave a review and hung up on me. I will NEVER purchase a Microsoft product again and will be letting everyone I know to avoid them and to buy Apple or any other product. My MacBook Air has been thrown around for work and I've had NO issue for about 10 years. I've had other brands of laptops that withstood much abuse. I can't believe we thought this Laptop could be a portable device as it is apparently meant to be gently fixed in position without touching it. But more anger provoking than the broken new device is the poor, rude, unwilling to help, and offensive customer service. Never again.

The best laptop on the market

The best laptop on the market!!! This laptop is beautiful! It is slim, great screen and color clarity, with a beautiful minimalist design. I hate when there a bunch of stickers on my laptops. It is just wonderfully sleek, The Ryzen 7 is lightning fast. It beats out an 11th gen i7 in most performance benchmarks. The graphics are good too. The Radeon graphics are better then most Intel Iris versions and it does have 512mb of dedicated memory which actually makes a big difference, The keyboard is the best but that is nothing new as Microsoft makes the best keyboards. Another thing I noticed (this is my 7th different surface device) is that the windows hello on this laptop is better then any other. The battery gets about 11 hours in real life for me with the screen at ... MoreThe best laptop on the market!!! This laptop is beautiful!
