While the SSD is twice as large as my old Surface Pro 7 (256 GB vs. 128 GB), eventually the disk will be filled. Being able to use the micro SD card as a second drive is very useful. On the other hand, the newer Surface products have an SSD that can be replaced, which is unusual nowadays.All in all, this is a great laptop. I'm glad I bought it and glad that I could get a price break buying it refurbished. One thing that I should mention is the packaging. Rather than all the foam and other trash-generating packing material that you usually have to deal with, my refurbished unit came in a box that had the laptop held firmly between a piece of cardboard and plastic film. I was very impressed when I opened and saw how little material was used to package this thing. I care about the environment like everybody else, but what I really liked about the packaging is that I didn't have to fill a garbage can with all the usual foam and cardboard. I don't know how it was originally packaged by Microsoft, but the refurbished unit came this way. Props to Best Buy for doing it this way.

I’ve now purchased a second machine because I thought the first one was faulty because the keyboard and mousepad did not work at all. Thought maybe when it was getting refurbished that something wasn’t connected properly. NO it turns out when they reflash the machine they wipe any and all drivers from the laptop so literally NOTHING functions! Wi-Fi won’t show anything, touchscreen doesn’t work and the entire keyboard doesn’t work except the power key. Be prepared with a USB keyboard and mouse to set up the laptop because that’s the only way you’ll get to do it. Also make sure you have another machine to download drivers onto a USB and then transfer it to your new laptop. Absolutely ridiculous when buying something refurbished. Honestly this is a nice laptop works great no issues with the laptop until you have to charge it. Right out of the box i needed to get the charger replaced within the 1st month. Then about 11months after that and now we are looking at ordering another charger... so aggravated! My brother has same laptop and says charger only lasts about 1.5 years on average before needing replacement so it is either a common issue or we just so happened to get the 2 worst of the lot!!!! Never again... i'd give zero stars if i could. Not to mention the argument with BestBuy itself when i tried doing a return in beginning bc i was barely past the return date and Microsoft would only send me a replacement cord for the 1st time!

This computer has beautiful graphics, I like a lot of Windows 11's new features. The speakers are great, the battery life has been surprising to me. I changed the setting to battery saver after 50% depleted, I have been very pleased with its battery life. To be honest, the most important thing to me with any tech purchase is that there are no bugs, I hate bugs. I had an old iPhone 11 that had plagued me for years with issues, and I will never look at tech the same way. Bugs that shouldn't be there, and that you grow accustomed to, I hate those bugs. I have an hp envy work laptop that lets me go all the way out to my driveway or backyard shed before fluttering. The aesthetics/design of the laptop is great, but when I pick the laptop up by a corner of the base/keyboard, with one hand, it eerily creeks and sounds like the joists in a 100-year-old house. I understand the lightweight, yet extremely durable casing materials are to blame, and serve their purpose respectively, but this is something I can't quite get over. Also video playback has at least a 5 second lag when paused for over 15-20 seconds. I think this may only be with Bluetooth, but is extremely frustrating when trying to flip between an instructional video and the application (as I am perfecting my Adobe Premiere skills). I think I fell into the trap of a computer that had all the aesthetics going on, but really lacks functionality and testing. Also, no thunderbolt ports even with the intel CPU is disappointing. I will say, that unless Microsoft concentrate on the testing and functionality a little bit more, I will probably be turning to other manufactures for future laptops.

I gave it a week as i loved the laptop and dont use touch screen often....but for that price it should work and I returned it.Second laptop on first day started blue screening. Tried everything, reset to factory and same issue. After some reading it seems others had this issue.Needed this laptop to work on a project and spent 7 days doing support and returns that i should have apwnt on my project. ... And I hated the fact that you can't close an app on the Macbook by clicking on the red X-- it's still running in the background. But because I couldn't find a Windows machine as well built as the Macbooks, I put up with it. I'm so glad to have this machine now. The taller screen is great for my writing, and has beautiful colors, easy on my older eyes even with the resolution lowered. I am a big stickler regarding keyboards--and the feel of this one is perfect- even better than the Magic Keyboard on the 2020 M1 Macbook Air I sold. Some have described this keyboard as mushy. I don't feel that-- I feel it's got just the right amount of comfortable feedback that makes you WANT to type on it. And the fact that it's backlit is the icing on the cake.The laptop is quiet-- I don't hear the fan much except if I'm charging it and also downloading programs at the same time. The 15-inch size is perfect for my large hands-- they aren't cramped or make me feel like my left wrist is going to fall off the end of the wrist rest, like some other 15.6 inch laptops with number pads. I do miss having a separate number pad, but it's ok-- Macbooks don't have it either.I got the Microsoft Surface 4 rather than the Surface 5 -- I wanted the one with the Ryzen 7 processor because battery life is more important to me, and Best Buy is still selling them new. But performance is great-- never had any lagging with any of the programs that I run. I'm not a gamer so having integrated graphics is fine for me too.Seems with the Surface Laptop Microsoft made the laptop with the hardware meant to showcase the Windows experience, where the hardware works well with the software and doesn't get in the way. So I just want to say, Good Job, Microsoft. This is how Windows computers ought to be. Other Windows laptop manufacturers can take a page from your book because some of us DON'T want to compromise. If I find I don't use the Macbooks any more they'll go up for sale, as I may be back to Windows for good. If you want a Windows machine and you can afford a Surface Laptop-- figure out which one you need according to the specs, and buy it. You won't be disappointed.
I LOVE this machine! My older Dell laptop (also a Best Buy purchase) was stolen in San Francisco along with my backpack and some other items. I had to replace my work laptop no matter what so I immediately had gone back to Best Buy to check what was newly available and I came across this Microsoft surface unit although in a different color. I love it for its size and light weight. It does lack an extra USB slot Bar on the flipside is very svelte using only a USB-C charger port which allows me to only carry a minimal charge cable which I love. A few months ago, I purchased a 13" Surface Laptop 4 with an i5 processor, 512GB SSD for myself. I was so impressed I purchased this 15" Surface Laptop 4 with an AMD Ryzen 7, 256BG SSD for my wife. Solid construction, however, I was not familiar with the AMD processor and only a 256GB SSD so I was hesitant. She wanted a 15" and the AMD Ryzen 7 with 256GB SSD were the only units in stock. I am impressed with the speed and battery life, and the 256GB SSD is plenty of space. With the AMD Ryzen 7 and smaller SSD, this 15" was the same price as my 13". If you are sold on a the Windows platform OS it is worth the extra money to purchase a MS Surface Laptop 4.
Very high quality build. Very fast. Microsoft hardware has been top notch for about 6 or 7 years now and the trend continues here. I threw a Windows 10 Enterprise key on it and 5 minutes later I was up and running.If you're wondering - 8gb is more than enough. I have 2 different browsers open with over 30 tabs open, while also playing a movie over VLC with zero issues. Huhlu, YouTubeTV and prime apps also stream fine. Office apps fly.I have used both the 15" and this 13.5" and I far prefer this version, especially since the bezels are so thin it almost feels like a 15".The screen is very high quality with great resolution.
