I bought an openbox deal and wanted to stick with the surface line since I loved my surface pro 6 so much. I had to send it back in less than 24 hours. It needs a warning label that many software vendors do NOT develop for ARM processors. I use adobe products all day everyday for photo editing, video creation and editing. I also use google drive non-stop. None of my software would work onthis machine. It is a beautiful machine, its lightweight, sleek and performance was fine just be forewarned that google does not plan to port their desktop app to ARM and Adobe is trying but no expected release date for their woftware on ARM.

Not super tech-saavy with regards to processors and all the technical aspects of computers and hardware. I didn’t realize the crutch that ARM based processors have, and after buying I definitely regret it. I was enjoying my surface pro 5 and needed a second as my wife has confiscated that for her work so I grabbed this. Absolute trash. Hard to find components that work with it. I was sold on supposedly how simple it was etc, didn’t realize there’s not many printers or scanners that are compatible. The old surface pro 5 has has 0 problems with the 3 printers and 1 scanner I’ve tried, the pro X has only worked with 1 printer and every time I use a brother ds640 scanner - FAIL. Didn’t need to print or scan until return window was over also, so that’s great. :)

This things only redeeming quality is that it's a tablet with windows. That's it. The SQ1 processor is so slow compared to other ARM based CPU's. The proprietary connector for power is just dumb and the experience with navigating something more than just word or built in windows apps is doggedly slow. I refuse to use edge but man is chrome slow on this thing because of the emulation happening behind the scenes. Admittedly it's seamless (for 32 bit apps) but its just so slow. Great sound though and great display. Most of all I can have more than 3 windows open at a time, something that the iPad cant apparently cant compete with, albeit I just have to be patient because it will take a while to do things. Surface was a 3+ return and tested fine each time.After setting it up for 30 minutes it worked for 15 minutes then started asking the setup questions again. It did this 3 times and I was done with it. These are not repairable by microcenter and I made sure no one else got it next time. It cost me the no questions asked warranty. They covered the cost of the unit but the warranty cost was not returned and not applied to my next HP computer that I purchased with the store credit card. The pen for this was +$125 and the new computer came with one. Guess I need to return or sell this useless to me stylis.

It is one of the slowest of the slow, windows arm processors are dumpsters speed compared to my M1 iPad Pro. I only wanted it because of the lte and the 2 games I play it doesn’t matter what speed computer you have.This thing it’s a specific use if you want to play low end video games on the go, and you don’t have a unlimited hot spot. Also the pro is 120 hz vs the 60 hz this garbage surface is. Microsoft really should be embarrassed. At no point ever was this thing worth a grand. The pro still has some back light bleed compared to a crisp oled, but the pro is faster than any android or intel. It is also way brighter, and the pro is 900.

I bought it a couple months before school was set to start so I could get used to the new device, as I was switching from previously using an ipad to a surface for the first time. After school started I quickly found out the ARM chip inside the Surface Pro X wasn't able to run any of the applications I needed them to. The surface pro x can't even connect to the printers on campus. By the time I realized my mistake it had been too long to get a refund. I had to purchase an old macbook that was 7 years older than the surface pro x to run the same applications that the surface pro x couldn't.
