The case is a nice touch, making it easy to transport the controller and keep everything organized.Inside the case, I found the controller itself, a USB-C charging cable, a charging dock, and a variety of interchangeable thumbsticks, D-pads, and paddle attachments. The range of customization options was immediately impressive, and I couldn't wait to try them out.Pros:Customizable Design: One of the standout features of the Elite Series 2 controller is its customizable design. The interchangeable thumbsticks, D-pads, and paddles allowed me to create a personalized controller setup that significantly reduced my hand strain during gameplay. The adjustable-tension thumbsticks are particularly helpful, enabling me to fine-tune the resistance for improved control.Build Quality: The controller feels sturdy and well-built, with a nice weight to it. The rubberized grips provide a comfortable, non-slip surface that makes it easy to maintain a firm grasp during intense gaming sessions.Wireless Performance: The wireless connectivity is excellent, with virtually no input lag. The included charging dock makes it easy to keep the controller charged and ready for action.Cons:Price: The main downside of the Elite Series 2 controller is its relatively high price point. However, considering the quality, performance, and customization options, I believe it's a worthwhile investment for gamers who struggle with hand discomfort.Learning Curve: The level of customization may be overwhelming for some users, and it took me a bit of time to find the perfect setup for my preferences. However, once I did, it was well worth the effort.Gameplay:Using the Elite Series 2 controller has significantly improved my gameplay experience in Fortnite and Call of Duty. The customizable design has not only helped to alleviate my hand soreness, but has also improved my overall performance. The hair-trigger locks, for instance, have enabled quicker response times, and the rear paddles have allowed me to execute more complex moves with ease. Conclusion:Overall, the Microsoft Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller has been a fantastic purchase. The high-quality build, customizable design, and exceptional performance have not only made gaming more comfortable for my sore hands, but have also taken my gameplay to new heights. Despite the relatively high price, I believe the controller is a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to improve their gaming experience and alleviate hand discomfort.

I believe it reflects poorly on the quality control and assurance measures of the store and the manufacturer.I would urge Best Buy to take note of these issues and ensure that the controllers they sell are thoroughly tested and free from defects before they reach the customers. I hope that this feedback helps them improve their product offerings and provide a better experience for future customers.Overall, my experience with the new controller purchased from Best Buy was highly unsatisfactory due to the persistent stick drift issues. I would recommend potential buyers to exercise caution and thoroughly test the controller before making a purchase to avoid similar disappointments.

The Series 2 was my second go at the Elite controllers from Microsoft and at first I fell in love again and forgot how my original elite controller broke. However after nearly a year of using the controller my left stick's button (LS) was no longer operational. I made due by making my paddles the LS and RS buttons and have grown accustom to utilizing those. Then the second fault occurred, my left bumper no longer registered. Now I could've just thrown in another set of paddles to get me by, but the paddles aren't meant to replace broken components. So at the end of the day, the controller truly is a fantastic experience and changes the way I viewed controllers. However I am 0/2 with working Elite controllers, I had insurance on the controller via GeekSquad so I did swap it out for a new one. Just buyer beware on the fragile nature of the controller.Highly Recommend Geek Squad insurance.

Excellent controller but some issues on PC
17 August 2022

The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 feels a lot better than the included controller in the Series X/S and seems more like a true "next gen" controller.I primarily use the Xbox Elite 2 for PC gaming. On Steam when connecting via Bluetooth the controller has worked flawlessly except with Batman: Arkham Knight which required telling the game it was a 360 controller with custom mappings.Surprisingly with Xbox PC game pass I ran into many more issues when connecting via Bluetooth, I found connecting via the included USB-C cable works better for game pass games, otherwise on BT I run into issues where some of the buttons aren't mapped properly and even when manually mapping them they don't respond correctly or at all. Being Xbox's flagship controller, I would think it would run seamlessly on Xbox game pass. The experience may be better on consoles but this controller is billed as an Xbox/PC controller and should work well on both.Other than those issues, which largely are corrected by connecting via USB-C, I like the controller quite a bit. The rumble feature feels much more natural than the included Xbox Series X controllers, which felt to me like technology from 10+ years ago with very basic and clunky vibration feedback, lightweight and a need for AA batteries, especially when compared with the all mighty PS DualSense. The Elite 2 controller has a nice weight to it, the thumb sticks feel solid, snappy and respond nicely. I haven't used the paddles much but I like that they are included and could see them being useful for many games. The grips feel good as well and make the controller sit securely in your hands during gaming sessions. The controller also feels more balanced than the X/S.This controller comes with a quality, corded 9' USB to USB-C cable as well as a rugged case that doubles as a charging station. Within the case it also includes a tool to adjust the thumb sticks as well as an alternate D-pad.Overall this is a large improvement over the included X/S controllers, and some of its PC compatibility issues which are a bit frustrating can largely be overcome by tethering with USB-C.

Premium controller with issues
26 September 2023

I initially fell in love with the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller for its premium feel and the added customization options it brought to my gaming experience. The tactile feedback, adjustable thumbstick tension, and extra buttons were all features that greatly enhanced my gameplay, especially in competitive titles. However, my enthusiasm took a hit when I encountered control drift issues. It became increasingly frustrating as the controller started registering movement on its own, affecting my gameplay significantly. This was unexpected and disappointing, especially given the high price point of the controller.Fortunately, the controller was still under warranty, and Microsoft's customer service came through by providing a replacement. It's worth noting that this issue should ideally not have arisen, considering the premium nature of the controller and the fact that the standard controller works reliably.Despite the hiccup, the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller, when functioning correctly, offers an exceptional gaming experience. Just be aware of the potential control drift issue and ensure you're covered by warranty in case you encounter it.

Ridden with design flaws and poor build quality

I did not purchase my Elite 2 from Amazon but feel the need to educate those who are considering upgrading their standard controller to an Elite 2. This is just my experience.Let me start by saying that I am astonished that there are so many great reviews on this piece of garbage. I mean, I've been Xbox controller gaming for 19 years now and have been through 3 of these within a year. I have never had the need to go through this many standard controllers in this kind of time frame. It's hard to imagine I received 3 lemons. I've yet to get any premium value or benefit from the added functionality. In fact, the added functionality has burdened my ability to play games. I have never had the need to go through this many standard controllers in this kind of time frame. It's hard to imagine I received 3 lemons. I've yet to get any premium value or benefit from the added functionality. In fact, the added functionality has burdened my ability to play games. This thing is so ridden with bone head design flaws and at the price point it's literally a scam.1.) Build Quality - My first controller (the original purchase), literally split in half from a 2.5 foot fall onto a throw rug over a hardwood floor within the first week. I had been sitting on my couch playing a game. Checked my phone for a few minutes, got up forgetting my controller was on my lap. Honest mistake, has happened many times in the past with a standard controller resulting in zero catastrophes. Unlike the MS standard controller that has clipped on rear side grips with the main halves fastened with screws, the Elite 2 is literally just 2 halves clipped together. The thing is so fragile you could probably twist it in your hand and it will split wide open. Anyways, the controller was shot. RMAd for replacement. I HIGHLY recommend the accidental damage protection.2.) Build Quality - The first replacement I received had left stick drift right from the get go. Not sure if it was a new unit or refurb but on immediate testing in a few games, I knew I could not accept it. The left stick would just drift top right consistently. Even testing different stick tension set points would not correct the drift. Not what I'd expect from a premium product. RMAd for another replacement.3.) Build Quality / Design Flaws - My second replacement was fine for a little while, though I began to learn how annoying some of the added features can be. I suppose it's subjective on how you grip your controller (I have a pretty standard grip, no claw or anything obscure) but I found the trigger locks would shift accidentally at times during gameplay, throwing off the needed pressure to activate the triggers. The magnetic thumb sticks just seem like a goofy idea. I mean, if you do quick flicks in shooters, they may shift around and in a couple instances actually fell off. The sticks and actuators just have a cheap feel in general. Over time, the mechanism that adjusts the right stick tension had become so sensitive that I would have to use the included tool to re-adjust in the middle of gameplay. I try to keep my right stick tension loose but over time (probably due to stick rotation) the stick would self-adjust and become so tense that it would get stuck in place in whatever position after a release

It's disappointing to see that even with such meticulous construction, Microsoft has not managed to address this critical flaw. The joystick drift makes gaming sessions frustrating and unenjoyable, as precise movements become almost impossible to execute accurately.Given the premium price point of the controller and the reputation of Microsoft, it's truly disheartening to witness such a glaring issue persist. While the build quality and overall feel of the controller are commendable, the presence of joystick drift significantly tarnishes the gaming experience. It's a shame that a company of Microsoft's caliber has not resolved this matter satisfactorily. In conclusion, while the Xbox controller exhibits exceptional craftsmanship and a sturdy build, the ongoing issue of joystick drift severely impacts its usability and overall value. It's my hope that Microsoft takes heed of these concerns and works towards rectifying this persistent problem to provide gamers with the experience they deserve. Until then, it's hard to wholeheartedly recommend this controller.

The combination of the textured grip and the adjustable tension on the analog sticks adds a level of precision and control that is simply unmatched. Whether you're engaging in intense first-person shooter battles or executing complex maneuvers in a racing game, the controller responds with remarkable accuracy. One of the standout features of the Elite Series 2 is the customizable buttons and paddles. The controller comes with a set of interchangeable components, allowing you to tailor the layout to your preferences. The addition of four paddles on the back is a game-changer, providing easy access to additional inputs without needing to remove your thumbs from the analog sticks. With the Xbox Accessories app, you can remap buttons, adjust trigger sensitivity, and save different profiles for various games or playstyles. This level of customization is a boon for competitive gamers and those seeking optimal control in every gaming scenario.Battery life is another area where the Elite Series 2 excels. Additionally, the controller comes with a charging dock, making it incredibly convenient to keep your controller charged and ready to go at all times. The controller also boasts Bluetooth connectivity, allowing for seamless pairing with both Xbox consoles and Windows 10 PCs. If you're a dedicated gamer who values precision and control, this controller is a must-have addition to your gaming setup.

Worst quality control and internal design!

TL;DRYou will go through multiple controllers because of abysmal quality control unless you are extremely lucky. Would be an incredible controller if it actually didn’t have such issues. Would be an incredible controller if it actually didn’t have such issues. Don’t waste your time or money, it isn’t worth it in the long run. While I bought the original Elite controller and purchased the Series 2 soon after release, about a year in I noticed there was an issue with the A button which would occasionally double register, completely stop registering at all. This obviously is a huge issue. I had several issues with the original Series controllers so I figured this one would be better. I was wrong after receiving the first replacement. It was okay for the little bit I tested it, except a crack in the Xbox Home button which could cut a finger. So I returned it for a replacement as soon as I could get back up to the store. I received the replacement today, one of the only ones left in the store and was a ecstatic to be able to play some of my favorite FPS again on a controller that doesn’t hurt my hands as much as my PS5 controllers do. About 10 minutes into a match of Halo Infinite to test it out, it became apparent that I could not press in the left thumb stick while at any other angle besides up, down, left, & right. My previous Elite Series 2 never had this issue, so I contacted technical support at Microsoft who deal with controller related issues. I was told to return it immediately as it is defective. I noticed my Series X/S controllers also do not have this issue, just a side note. As someone who has to drive a distance to even reach my local Best Buy and also pay tolls to get across bridges, this is infuriating at the lack of quality control that Microsoft offers on their products. I’ve owned several Xbox controllers dating back to the Duke (the original Xbox controller), and besides the original Elite controller have I seen quality control so shoddy. They should fire whomever engineered these controllers, along with the engineer and product designer for the wireless headset (the mic will always break off after time due to poor placement of a screw and soft plastic that bends till it breaks if you ever press the mute button or god forbid move the boom mic in a different position). I love to support all hardware companies, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, even Valve. But this is a product that I can not recommend if my life depended on it. If you are fortunate enough to receive one in perfect condition, count your blessings. Because after this ordeal, I doubt I will buy any more “Elite” Xbox products, having sunken $420 into their 2 TB SSD, 1 TB SSD, 3 regular controllers, a Series X & S, and another headset after the first one’s mic fell off 3 months after buying it and was told by Microsoft that it’s common but there is nothing they can do. Steer clear of this unless you have the time and means to keep trying if you receive lemons like I and many others have.
