Peter Jackson's Extraordinary Middle-Earth Trilogies From Beginning To End. For The First Time Ever, Both The Hobbit & The Lord Of The Rings Theatrical Trilogies Together In One Collection. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Set 60 years before The Lord of the Rings, the adventure follows our hero Bilbo Baggins, the eponymous Hobbit, who is reluctantly swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome Dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the Wizard Gandalf, Bilbo finds himself press ganged into the company of thirteen Dwarves led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield and on a journey into the wild. Together they must traverse troll infested forests and goblin lairs, hunted by a merciless white Orc and haunted by a mysterious and sinister figure known only as The Necromancer. The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, on an epic quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain and the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. Having survived the beginning of their unexpected journey, the Company travels East, encountering forest of Mirkwood. After escaping capture by the dangerous Wood-elves, the Dwarves journey to Lake-town, and finally to the Lonely Mountain itself, where they must face the greatest danger of all – a creature more terrifying than any other: one which will test not only the depth of their courage but the limits of their friendship and the wisdom of the journey itself – The Dragon Smaug. The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) and the Company of Dwarves. The Dwarves of Erebor have reclaimed the vast wealth of their homeland, but now must face the consequences of having unleashed the terrifying Dragon, Smaug, upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town. As he succumbs to dragon-sickness, the King Under the Mountain, Thorin Oakenshield, sacrifices friendship and honor in his search for the legendary Arkenstone. Unable to help Thorin see reason, Bilbo is driven to make a desperate and dangerous choice, not knowing that even greater perils lie ahead. An ancient enemy has returned to Middle-earth. Sauron, the Dark Lord, has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain. As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide—unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends as five great armies go to war. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Based on J.R.R. Tolkien's masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is an epic adventure of good against evil, the power of friendship and individual courage. The saga centers around an unassuming Hobbit named Frodo Baggins who inherits a Ring that would give a dark and powerful lord the power to enslave the world. With a loyal fellowship of elves, dwarves, men and a wizard, Frodo embarks on a heroic quest to destroy the One Ring and pave the way for the emergence of mankind. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Frodo Baggins and the Fellowship continue their quest to destroy the One Ring and stand against the evil of the Dark Lord Sauron. The Fellowship has divided and now find themselves taking different paths to defeating Sauron and his allies. Their destinies now lie at two towers – Orthanc Tower in Isengard, where the corrupted wizard Saruman waits, and Sauron's fortress at Barad-dur, deep within the dark lands of Mordor. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King The final battle for Middle-earth begins as Frodo and Sam, led by Gollum, continue their dangerous mission toward the fires of Mount Doom in order to destroy the One Ring. Aragorn struggles to fulfill his legacy as he leads his outnumbered followers against the growing power of the Dark Lord Sauron, so that the Ring-bearer Frodo may complete his quest. Based on J.R.R. Tolkien's epic adventure of good versus evil, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is the ultimate achievement by director Peter Jackson in his acclaimed film trilogy.
