My first impression was of how light the unit is when compared with the 25 year old Kuppersbusch it's replacing; the underside of the hob is cased in plastic, which surprised me for a Miele, and there is no way of securing it in position within the worktop cutout. Having said that, I can't actually point to anything wrong in terms of construction or build quality; the hob sits nicely in the worktop and shows no sign of movement so perhaps it's just my perception that stopped me giving it five stars for quality. In use, the hob is fantastic and I'm amazed at how quickly it brings pans up to temperature and boils water; the controls are very intuitive and easy to use and the cooking zones are incredibly responsive to changes in the demanded heat output. Cooking meals has become noticeably quicker due to the speed at which my pans heat up which, for me, is the hobs outstanding feature. It is an expensive item and you can certainly buy a functionally similar one for considerably less; however, I have always found the reliability and useability of Miele appliances to be a cut above the rest; and if you want the best, you've got to be prepared to pay a bit more for it.Overall, I'm a very satisfied customer.

I was very nervous about switching to an induction hob after many years of cooking on a gas hob but I am I very glad that I did. It's super easy to use, and amazingly responsive to change of heat settings which I'm really appreciating particularly when cooking on a low heat. This hob is also extremely easy to clean and finally, much to my relief I've been able to continue using my old heavy based Le Creuset saucepans!
