Amazing tool

I have had these wire stripers for a few months now. They are so fast and make the job way easier. They have worked great on everything I have thrown at them so far. 10ga solid all the way around to16 ga stranded wire. One in a while they don’t bite down right and I have to do it again, but using this tool twice is still faster then once with regular strippers. Thank you Milwaukee, you have made another fantastic tool.

It's been working well for me. I haven't experienced what others have in the comments. The only thing is the stripping length adjustment screw comes loose, which is a problem when I have it set for the stripping length I want. It doesn't happen much though. It may be different being a DIYer vs a pro, but so far, I like it better than using my old wire strippers.

This is the first thing I've gotten from the Big Red that is mediocre. I have wanted a self-adjusting wire stripper for a while, and saw these when I was last at HD and bought them on an impulse (I was finishing a wiring project in the house). I wish I has just saved my $20. Even after adjusting, they don't effectively strip wire, especially if it's been used. They are inconsistent when they do work, and I don't find it any more convenient than a pair of regular choose-your-size strippers.

Stay away, extremely poor design, doesn't work
23 January 2024

Tried to use it as a normal wire stripper - no go. Agree with other reviewers that there are no directions which makes this tool a bit of a puzzler to use. Anyway. the so-called tension adjustment does nothing and the jaws on the left which should hold the wire and pull it thru the stripping cutter don't close tight enough to hold a #12 AWG!!!! That's a fair sized wire and the jaws just slip right off. The adjustment for insulation stripping also appear to do nothing until you figure out that you have to hammer the slide to the right (after removing the screw) for a normal strip length, then tighten down the pathetic little dial with +/-. What a joke! This tool looks much better than it is - junk, going back to the Home Depot store.

Worse than regular old scissor style
6 October 2024

With the strip length guard fully extended, you only get about 1/2” of strip. Worse, the adjustment screw is impossibly small and constantly comes loose. The tension screw is barely sufficient when fully tightened and useless if at all loosened on 14 ga wire. Finally, there’s no tool to make outlet bends and the cutters on the underside are cumbersome and too small to go all the way through romex. These strippers failed to strip on half of my attempts either too short or no strip at all. I’m going back the the OG scissor style.

[Rewarded Review] Excellent stripper

This wire stripper handles a great range of sizes, from 10 ga. down to as small ast 24 ga. And it handles them well. It also handles NM (Romex type) 12 and 14ga.In addition to handling such a wide range of sizes, it allows a stop to be set to control the length of the stripped wire to be set from ¼” to ¾”. The stop can also be swung away allowing any length to be stripped. When stripping NM wire I found I could strip the outer sheath and then strip the wires in a second action. There is a copper wire cutter inside the handles too.The wire is placed in the side of the tool. [Rewarded Review] First of all, I do recommend these for DYI use........
8 November 2023

Look, bottom line first, if you are reading this review and you are shopping for a good quality, solidly made wire stripper/cutter, this one met my expectations. In my opinion this is a GREAT option and without hesitation, earned my recommendation. So far for home DIY use (I can't comment for pro use), this works real well. This tool is well made, of course it’s a Milwaukee. Works well on the wires suggested for. And with some care I on smaller wires too. You can strip both strands of small paired wire at once. Two dials to control pull strength and the other in an adjustable stopper to control the length of the core strip. It’s a simple but versatile pair of wire strippers. Cutters is good too. One minor thing, it seems to be catching on an internal part when closing so it’s not an absolute smooth action.

[Rewarded Review] Great wire strippers
13 February 2024

These are a great pair of wire strippers. I've used them on 14, 12 and 24 gauge wires and they wroked on all of them. The 24 gauge it didn't do as good of a job but with how thin the wires are it did a great job. I do love how you can leave the ends on the wires so that after they're in place you can just pull the ends off. Also the adjustable depth stop is a very nice feature to have. I do like the included wire cutters other pairs I've used haven't had this so its a very welcome addition.

[Rewarded Review] Never thought I’d like this style better than standard wire strippers
5 December 2023

I have always used standard style wire strippers and have never had an issue with them. I got a cheap pair of fast strippers as a gift and was not impressed. I was however intrigued to see if a good set would be worthwhile, so I picked up these. The short answer is yes, they are worth it. I still like the stand style because I am use to them and they are smaller. The pro of these for me has been the uniformity of the stripped wire length; the lack of needing to pick the correct gauge notch (helpful in low light); and the ability to strip double wire in one squeeze of the handles. It makes for quick work with even lengths of exposed copper. These strippers have a built in wire cutter that can handle up to 12/2 NM cable. They will strip solid core down to 20 AWG, stranded down to 22 AWG, and 12/2 & 14/2 NM wire. It has a screw to adjust the depth of the stop for dialing in the length of stripped ends, and another screw to adjust tension. I have not needed to mess with the tension adjustment, but both screws are tool free adjustable. If you have the room in your pocket or tool bag, these are perfect for making a lot of uniform wire strips. The grips aren’t soft, but they are ridged enough to be pretty non-slip. They require a little bit more hand strength to squeeze, but less overall effort since you don’t have to pull partially cut sheathing off of the wire core.

[Rewarded Review] Strippers that work well
14 November 2023

My review if the Milwaukee self adjusting wire strippers. This my first time trying the style stripper . I feel that these are probably more useful on household wire vs automotive style primary wire. These will strip the conduit from romex with catching the wire. They will also allow you to strip three wires at once . On primary wire i like the handiness of having the crimper on the same tool which these do not have. They do have a cutter built in though. As with most Milwaukee tool they are quality built. If you are looking for this style stripper you cannot go wrong.
