Milwaukee 48227314 - Pipe Wrench Cheater

This is a great pipe wrench. I like how you can add the pipe to the end for extra leverage. I even made a longer one from 1/2 pipe. Works great and will hold up to the abuse.

Great Pipe Wrench......but....

Great pipe wrench. A little overpriced. Picked one up the other day @ a store. A Milwaukee rep was there and setting up his demo after I arrived. He had a display out where one could play with it. I love the smallness of the wrench itself with the great grip jaws. My only question was, why did Milwaukee not make the two handle pieces screw together to make the handle even longer for even more leverage?I don't need that kind of leverage to put pipe together, just to take it apart sometimes after 20 years of pipe dope sometimes.Take the longer handle, take the cap end off of it and install a coupling so that the smaller handle can screw into it. Great wrench for apprentice and master

I have been spinning these for a few years now. Versatile and the three length options are nice. Amazing the other company’s have not copied. I like the thin jaw for tight spots. I’m a master FYI. I would definitely recommend these to and knuckle dragging tradesman.

Nothing else like this on the market! Choice of 3 handle lengths so a big bite in a small space is possible. Add either of the two longer handles and the leverage is impressive. The days of using a bit of old scaffold pipe on the handle are gone. All packs into a tool bag with the other tools rather than an extra bag with all the big Stillsons. On top of a set of adjustable spanners and water pump pliers this takes a basic plumbers kit to a new level without a lot of extra weight. Very convenient for commercial/heavy duty pipeline work on flange fittings and threaded tube up to 2 1/2" though the jaws are good at wider than this. Replaces 4 large wrenches in my tool kit, is very well made and I have used it on everything from gas meter unions to high pressure water ... MoreNothing else like this on the market! I love the flexibility of this tool, three wrenches in one. I'm a construction professional, but not a plumber. IMHO this tool should have been introduced a long time ago. I can take four wrenches out of my truck box and just keep a pair of these in there. You just have to keep track of the spare extension for each wrench. You can even make your own extension, a longer one if you want to with a threaded piece of pipe. The jaws are replaceable although most folks won't wear them out. I always wish that pipe wrenches were slightly narrower as when you get to connecting valves and close nipples the tools are sometimes too wide to function as smoothly as you'd like. Perfect Pipe Wrench for Multiple Applications! Works GREAT!!! Not once have I had the teeth slip off the pipe like my old set. Very easy to Adapt for different pipe sizes and/or limitedwork space!!! Absolutely love it......5 stars all the way⭐⭐⭐⭐. I also really dig the aluminium set Milwaukee launched last year. Can't go wrong buying any of the Milwaukee hand tools!!! This pipe wrench comprises of 3 pieces. The wrench itself which is 10 inches, then an extension handle to give a total of 18" and a 2nd interchangeable extension handle to give a total of 24 inches. It is a shame the two extensions cannot be combined for an even greater length, instead you can choose one or the other.The two handles have tether-ready handle loops, so you can attach a loop to them if desired.The wrench is rated for a maximum of a 2.5 pipe diameter, the jaws open a little over 3.5 inches.The Milwaukee red paint matched with black laser etched handles make for a real nice looking wrench.

I was disassembling an old, out of use milking room at my farm. Some of the plumbing included 1 1/2" gas pipe. The gas pipe was rusted & I knew it wouldn't be easy disassembling all the fittings. I used this pipe wrench with the maximum cheater extension for a 24" overall wrench length. The adapter fitting I was going to remove from the 1 1/2" gas pipe, has a 2 1/8" dia., overall. I held onto the pipe wrench at the end of the cheater pipe extension & pulled. The wrench bit down hard on the pipe adapter fitting & after a few seconds the adapter started to unscrew. I have a 50-lb vise attached to 1 1/4" thick x 4' x 8' plywood work bench top mounted on 4" x 4" x 3' wood legs & a full length shelf under the bench top. The Milwaukee Cheater pipe wrench is so functional and durable. To have a 10", 18" and 24" heavy duty pipe wrench all in one tool is economical, practical and sensible. One of the things I really like is the overbite jaw which for a 10" pipe wrench allows a more secure bite on small as well as large diameter pipe in tight spaces. The cheater handles to extend the wrench to18" or 24" are very strong and provide maximum leverage for use on larger pipe/fittings old corroded fittings. I'd definitely recommend the cheater pipe wrench for the professional or homeowner. I'm very impressed with its quality and value.

It may be a little spendy, but worth it. I like the fact that you can use it without the handles, or with the short or long handle. Would be nice if the 2 handles screwed together to make an even longer handle to help with breaking some old joints apart, but the long handle seems to work ok for it. I would imagine that if you needed to, you could get another handle made to the length of your choosing. The marks on the side are great for adjustment without guessing. Teeth are sharp and grip very well. Highly recommend spending the money on this product!!
