Own them all, yet I still decided to try the Milwaukee m18 Quik-lok pole prunner as I’m a contractor and own every Milwaukee m18 tool, so why not another. This lead me to the trimmer attachment. It’s actually not a bad setup at all. Complete throttle (speed) control when needed as needed, smooth line release, decent weight to balance ratio, 8.0 battery gives you sufficient run time and come with the rapid charger if purchased in the kit. I own other 9.0 batteries so was able to keep going one the 8.0 ran out. Does it compare to the Stihl batteries? No but it’s what’s in your budget. Example. This trimmer is quite the animal. If you have thick brush or want to edge with it. No problem. Plenty of power with the 9.0. It's awesome. The winding system is great. I bought a bunch of Milwaukee tools at the same time. This trimmer w/ the power head is the best of the bunch. I was a keyboard warrior on the Hammer Drill but you guys knocked this out of the park. Well done. Two possible improvements:Try a Darwin's grip to keep you standing up instead of hunched over the trimmer. Even though this is a long trimmer, it's much easier to use with a Darwin. 50 bucks to save on lower back pain is worth it.Also, Milwaukee, put a hex drill bit in the middle of the trimmer head so it doesn't have to be wound up by hand. Thanks.

Hey Milwaukee. I ended up returning my purchase after one day (six hours or so) of use with the powerhead using the string trimmer. I was really enjoying the performance and quality of the trimmer while I was using it. It seemed quite powerful and the batteries lasted for as long as I thought they would. However, I had the battery flash all of its lights twice while using it alerting me that the battery was overheating. After it first did this I let the battery cool and switched to another battery. I then attempted to be more gentle on the battery by giving it a break here and there. However, after the second time the battery overheated I removed the battery and noticed that one of the ports that connects to the battery charger was slightly melted. If the batteries didn't show signs of melting I would have been totally satisfied with the product even given the overheating batteries. Overall this product functioned great but I couldn't justify continuing using it given that the batteries started to melt on the first day of use.

Great tool, IF.......
1 December 2019

So, first, I am a Milwaukee fan through and through, however, I try to call it as it is with a product. With that out of the way, I read some reviews that rated the string trimmer poorly and, I bought it anyway.......After dozens of uses and being careful and gentle with the "bumping", the trimmer was used a few times by a 10 year old that was not gentle, and I began to experience problems with the trimmer-head and confirmed the troubles that others had experienced. I thought about replacements, adapting third party stuff, and figured I would take a look.at the unit first. And now the IF, I removed the bump portion of the string-head and re-wound the string and lightly sprayed the whole assembly with some "dry-type" silicone spray lubricant and was careful to ... MoreSo, first, I am a Milwaukee fan through and through, however, I try to call it as it is with a product. Great trimmer, a bit pricey
21 January 2023

Very impressed with the Quik-lok system. Usually in these types of attachment systems the tools are just mediocre but I have both the string trimmer and edger and they are both sturdy and great at their intended uses. Like all Milwaukee products, these are pricey and would love to see the price come down but am very happy with my purchases.

Line Trimmer review from a home owner
3 May 2023

I have used the line trimmer 4 times since purchase 5 weeks ago. The guard on the unit needs to be reworked as it gives very little coverage. You must wear safety glasses! It would be nice to be able to use the trimmer at 90 degrees but then Milwaukee would would have fewer sales on their edger attachment. The strong line used means very little bumping for more line. Very powerful, most powerful line trimmer I have ever used. Reason for only 3 stars is the lack of coverage by the guard.

Great tool for lawn trimming and brush cleanup. Lots of power for even the toughest projects. Threw away my electrical cord powered tools. Just connect the desired head attachment to the battery section and head out into the yard. Simply very quick and very easy!

Soo far works well

The machines are light weight and works according to description. I have used milwaukee tools to assist with clearing tall grasses, himalyan blackberries, salmon berries and the saw blade for downed forest limbs. This review is only for the three days I have used them.

This trimmer is a hit!!

Milwaukee’s FUEL string trimmer with quik-lok makes landscaping easy for the professional or DIY homeowner. This string trimmer attachment connects to the M18 FUEL power head and makes quick work of grass and other vegetation. Weed whack your yard without the headache of dealing with gas fumes or loud motors running to run your tools. This string trimmer attachment can power to full throttle in under 1 second and has a cutting swath of 14”-16”. Reloading is super quick and easy. All you need to do is line up the hole where the string comes out of with a hole inside the trimmer head that holds the string, run the string through so you have even lengths on both sides and proceed to twist the trimmer head and it will wind up the line inside the trimmer head. Releasing the line is also done easily by pressing down on the trimmer head while triggering the throttle and it will automatically release the line.I own a 14 acre property in a high fire zone so every year we are required by the city to do brush clearance. I tackle this work a day at a time and it takes me about a week to do the entire property using this string trimmer. I run the trimmer with an 8.0 High Out battery which usually last me about 40-45 minutes going non stop, and since I own several of these batteries, I can weed whack non stop. This tool is heavy as it weighs 12.3 lbs, getting the Milwaukee shoulder strap (49-16-2722) is essential for extended use. With the shoulder strap all the weight of the tools sits on my shoulders so my hands are used for simply hitting the throttle and guiding the strummer with my other hand. For the two years I have used this trimmer I have not encountered any issues or felt like it was lacking in performance. Great investment and addition to my Milwaukee tool collection!!

This is a great tool. I huge step up from my cheap battery powered weed eater. This and the battery that comes with it in the weed eater/leaf blower combo is perfect. I used the trimmer for 30 minutes with half trigger and it cutdown everything in sight. The battery just hit 2 bars after all that use (I monitored the batter life throughout the trimming).4 Stars because of the weight and not including a shoulder strap in teh package.
