Congrats to the designers, engineers, and quality assurance people involved, well done, colour me impressed. Finally and last but not nearly least (it's important), due to being a brushless Fuel tool, it puts out impressive power and endurance / run time even on the smallest 1.5 Ah M12 batteries, let alone the newer 2.0 Ah and the bigger, bulkier M12 batteries.Which is even more impressive considering how light and comfortable it feels when you find yourself in the most expletives-inducing awkward spots (which this tool can sometimes alleviate to the extent that I caught myself, pleasantly surprised, forgetting the usual stream or at even occasional cursing or grumbling that the situation normally warranted, as far as I'm concerned). In summary, much more pleased with this tool and purchase than I expected to be, initially considering it more of a somewhat self-indulgent "might be useful in some circumstances" purchase, considering that I'm not short of M12 and M18 drill drivers and impact drivers, as well as other drills from Makita and DeWalt, etc., but no more, since I now reach for this one most of the time, sometimes even where previously I may have only considered and used a beefy M18 Fuel with a minimum 4.0 Ah battery.I just wish they included one (or, optionally two or more) of those bit holders that slide into the hand guard-like front-facing part of the handle, because I assumed one would be included, and I see how that would come in handy for quick bit changes on the go especially in awful cramped spaces where it's tricky and time-consuming to get into once without having to get out and back in, or chase after a different bit in pockets or nearby surfaces (if any even available for resting a case upon).Instead it now remains an additional task to look into that onboard storage, try to find those proprietary bit holder storage units that slide into the hand guard part of the handle, source them from Atlas or wherever they may be available, and place a separate order for them, which is a minor hassle that could have been avoided. Can't fault the tool itself in any way, though, and no regrets at all about purchasing the tool.

A Tool I Never Thought I Needed. This Drill worked great for some close quarter drilling. I had numerous dowel holes to drill in Cast Iron Flanges. This drill worked great from 1/4” to 7/16”. It also worked great operating a Tapered Reamer. The CP2.0 Batteries provided adequate runtime. With a 4.0 or 5.0 the runtime was impressive. It takes a little while to get used to the forward and backward controls are located. The heads mount quickly and easily. The heads are also indexable for numerous operating locations. It’s not something I use every day, but it comes in handy when you need it.

I knew when I used this tool for the first time, it would quickly become a favourite, and most used, and it definitely has! The installation driver literally comes with me in the truck everywhere I go! It definitely has its limitations as to the size of screws it will drive, I haven't had any issues with sinking screws under 3" yet.I mainly bought it for the offset and right angle attachments, but I've used them all and they work great. I mainly use the offset and 1/4" hex attachments. The clutch settings are great, I love them more than the M12 hammer drill (I own two of them and use them daily as well). The only thing that I didnt like out of the box was that the main 1/4" shaft that the attachments clip on to would come out of the tool if you didn't properly ... MoreI knew when I used this tool for the first time, it would quickly become a favourite, and most used, and it definitely has! I found that it's just held in by a thin metal ring. I played around with the tool a bit, taking the attachments on and off multiple times, then suddenly the shaft stopped coming out. I'm assuming the ring engaged with the main shaft again and locked in place. The attachments themselves have a tiny bit of play when locked onto the tool, but hasn't had an effect on driving the screws. The attachments have never come off the tool while in use, although sometimes the bits get left behind in the screw when using the offset attachment as there's no positive lock, just a magnet, that holds the bit in place.Overall, I love this driver and I might just buy a second one (for my other hand)!

Milwaukee's M12 Installation Drill/Driver is a super versatile tool that allows you to drill/drive in so many different positions. With 4 different detachable heads, you can tackle challenging locations or positions where you need to work. Included in the kit is a 3/8 chuck, offset driver, 1/4" hex driver, and right angle driver and each head can attach in 16 different positions to really give you many different angles to tackle your job. You can also connect 3 of the tool heads to the right angle attachment for added versatility in those tight or hard to reach spaces. The tool it's self is extremely compact and light weight, only about 2.0 lbs with battery attached. The front of the tool has a magnetic bit holder that can hold multiple bits which helps as you swap out different tool heads. The tool is very well designed for easy one handed operation and for it's size it packs a punch of up to 300 in/lbs. The contractor bag that is included has compartments to store each tool head.I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have used my right angle drill attachment to do work in tight spaces. This tool has come in handy more often then I thought it would. To be able to easily change heads and gain better access in tight places is what makes this tool a must have. It is very well designed and balanced and feels good in the hands. I recently built out some kitchen cabinets and this was my go to tool. Doing carpentry work on finished pieces is a lot easier since I have better access to drill/drive and I don't have to worry about damaging the finish. There is one minor thing that I didnt' like about the tool and that is the location of the direction button is a bit inconvenient. It would have been better to have it accessible while I am holding the tool so I can use the same hand to push the button. Other than that the tool is very well thought out and designed, 5 stars for me!!
I'm a contractor currently working on a 6 month project installing Shopping cart retention systems for grocery stores. In the time that I've had it, I've been able to gauge some of this drill driver's strengths and weaknesses.Pros/What it's good at:• It's extremely low profile and not cumbersome to carry around by hand or on a tool belt.• Getting screws in or out of normally difficult to reach spaces that a standard drill driver may need something like a bit adapter for.• Right angle adapters for standard drill drivers are an AWFUL EXPERIENCE AND AN EXTREME DISPLEASURE TO WORK WITH. Having to hold both whatever it is that you intend to mount/secure AND hold the adapter steady AND pull the trigger of your standard drill driver is one of the banes of my ... MoreI'm a contractor currently working on a 6 month project installing Shopping cart retention systems for grocery stores. Having to hold both whatever it is that you intend to mount/secure AND hold the adapter steady AND pull the trigger of your standard drill driver is one of the banes of my existence. This installation drill driver, on the other hand has a removable right angle chuck that won't spin out of control like Taz, The Tasmanian Devil every time you pull the trigger because it's completely secured to the installation drill driver itself.• It's good for driving screws through wood, drywall, anchors, and open sockets.•The magnetic bit holder at the end of the trigger guard is extremely handy for hanging onto more than just bits. You can fit a fair few screws onto its surface area. The cons/Where it comes up short:• NOT RECOMMENDED for use with a holesaw. It can drill a two inch hole through decently thick wood panels, but it's definitely not ideal for this drill driver. If you're gonna be doing lots of hole popping, I'd suggest a standard or beefier m18 drill driver.• It won't be able to do much when it comes to drilling through metal. Was able to almost pop a 1/4" hole in 3/16" thick metal, but it stopped working on it just short of breaching the hole. Another issue with the overall power of the installation drill driver itself as mentioned above.• A minor issue, but sometimes the chucks can get stuck and refuse to connect to the driver as seamlessly as when you first unbox it. Likely caused by some amount of debris getting into where it shouldn't be. Play around with it and it'll eventually pop into or out of place as intended.Overall, it's an amazing tool for its intended use, but beyond that scope of work you may wish to use something stronger.4/5 Definitely recommend.
I just purchased the tool which arrived a day early and am very pleased with both the deal I got from OPT and the tool. I got the free 2.5AH battery in addition to the two that come with the kit. Well balanced tool with sufficient power for jobs like cabinet installation and electrical work, where having right-angle and offset tool heads can make a difference between a time-wasting struggle and an efficient job. Also a fine tool for general drilling for residential work. My only suggestion for improvement would be to reposition the fwd/rev/lock switch to the side of the tool. It is possible to use one hand to reverse direction of tool spin, but it's a bit of a reach and people with smaller hands will need to use their other hand to do it. I’m a professional DIYer. I bought my first Installation Driver over a year ago and it quickly became my primary “go to” power tool. It was the main tool I used to build a 400sft deck. It was much easier to swap between the drill head and impact head than to tote around two separate tools. After using it again as the primary to do a complete gut job renovation on our main bathroom, I knew it was the new best tool to have. It replaced two power tools in my go bag and is much more versatile. I loved it so much I got one for each of my children last Christmas and got 8 for each of my maintenance crew members this Christmas. My only issue is it doesn’t stand upright with the larger M12 batteries. There are 3rd party kick stands available but Milwaukee should include a ... MoreI’m a professional DIYer. I have no regrets purchasing the M12 Installation Drill. I have used two of the four attachments so far for installing my hardwood flooring. The drill is more than powerful to drive 3-inch screws. I was hesitant to buy this unit because many reviewers spoke negatively about the controls being on top of the drill. I have found this placement as an advantage because I don’t inadvertently hit the forward/reverse switch during use of this drill. Hitting the forward/reverse switch on my M-12 surge impact driver has been a issue for me occasionally. In summary, this is a great drill with many application via the four attachments. I recommend this drill.
I purchased the installation drill/driver a week ago. When I got it home, my initial impressions were quite positive. It felt like a very high quality tool. When I began to use it, I noticed a major flaw. The gear/speed adjuster switch would snap into gear 2 properly but would never fully seat into gear 1. Sometimes the gear switch would be totally crooked. This would quite often cause the drill to grind. Then I would have to fiddle with the switch to try and seat it. Sometimes, when switching from gear 1 to 2, even though the switch seats properly into place, the drill would still grind and the switch would pop back between gear 1 and 2 and was difficult to get back to either gear. I have other Milwaukee tools and love them so thinking it was a fluke, I exchanged ... MoreI purchased the installation drill/driver a week ago. I have other Milwaukee tools and love them so thinking it was a fluke, I exchanged it for another. When I got that one home, it had the exact same problem but even worse and a new major problem as well. It would also completely stall out after switching between forward and reverse. For the first drill, the problem happened about 50% of the time. For the second drill, 70% of the time. The forward reverse problem happened every single time. Now I'm sure this is a bad batch in my area so I contacted Milwaukee and I haven't heard anything back from them which is really disappointing. I wanted so badly to love this drill. There are so many features I like about it and I like Milwaukee tools but I was disappointed by the quality control issues and lack of response.
A great lightweight but powerful installation tool equipped with a versatile set of heads. All the heads can attach directly to the tool, or you can attach the right angle head to the tool and, if needed, any of the other three to the right angle head. The 2.0 AH batteries that came with the kit provide plenty of runtime, as does the 2.5 AH bonus battery that was included. The included soft case holds everything securely. I found the tool well balanced when in use. My two complaints are (1) the position of the forward/reverse/lock switch on top of the tool which (a) makes it difficult to reach with one hand and (b) does not constantly tell you which mode the tool is in, and (2) the weak LED light for illuminating the work area. A traditional F/R push button above the trigger would make the tool more convenient to use. Granted, with use, you get used to the oddly positioned mode button but it makes the tool more awkward to use. Aside from those two issues it’s a fine tool.
