I personally bought the heated jacket since I work outside a lot for my job and winter is coming and figured it would help a lot. After receiving the jacket I charged the battery, tried the jacket on and turned it on the highest setting. After about 5 minutes I realized it wasn't getting any hotter and became disappointed. I thought maybe it would make more of a difference when I'm outside in the cold so I didn't write it off yet. The following day I brought it to work and wore it outside and again I was very disappointed. I could barely feel the heat at all on the highest setting and I even let several of my co workers trying it on since many of them were considering buying one since our store just started selling them. Literally every single one of my co workers ... MoreI personally bought the heated jacket since I work outside a lot for my job and winter is coming and figured it would help a lot. Literally every single one of my co workers said they were disappointed and surprised that a Milwaukee item was such low quality. My co worker said may have gotten a defective one since he used one when he went to Alaska and was actually sweating from the heat. So I am going to return the jacket and try to purchase another one to see if it is any better. Also the jackets are made pretty big. I wear a medium to a large and the large was huge on me so I got a medium but even the medium was kinda big on me. If the next one is just as bad then I'm going to cut my losses and get my money back and look elsewhere.

i literally never leave reviews but from the reviews i read about this, i feel someone is bound to need it. this jacket, DOES NOT GET HOT. i sent the first back as i thought it was faulty, and when i got the second, i had the same thing. fully charged battery, on max heat and i was cold when it was only -4 degrees. honestly a second t-shirt would have provided more warmth. the jacket isnt bad except it restricts movement slightly and the arms are too short but fo a jacket on its own, its fine. the heating element on the other hand is really disappointing. they dont let you try it on in the store and now i know why. dont waste your money

I previously owned the older style TOUGHSHELL jacket (maybe 4 yrs ago) and it was amazing. So good in fact I wanted to own another one, the same version but for casual wear not to work in, I ordered a men’s large only to find it was in fact a totally different jacket. The material has changed. (Not as nice as previous. Feels cheap) the fit of the jacket is almost like it’s been reconfigured for ppl whom are overweight. I’m 5’10 205lbs and I swim in the large I ordered. Also the picture on the site is different than the jacket. There are no longer to separate looking buttons on the chest with a picture of hands and a jacket. Its kind of a 2 button seamed together with some cheap looking drawing. Plain and simple if you owned This jacket previous the new one is ... MoreI previously owned the older style TOUGHSHELL jacket (maybe 4 yrs ago) and it was amazing. This is the 2nd heated jacked I bought. I had the 1st gen and even though the fit was more of an oversize crop top it heated well and was comfortable enough for everyday use. The battery pouch zipper was in an awkward position on the back so swapping batteries wasn't the easiest if you had the jacket on, but it was nice that it was its own pocket with a mesh pouch to keep the battery in a comfortable place. I had that jacket for almost 4 years without any complaints. After reading that this jacket was more form fitting for skinny/tall guys and had a lot more flexibility and better heating to it it was a no brainer to upgrade, or so I thought. After a month this is what I thought: 5/5 for better heating, 6/5 for better fit and flexibility, -5/5 for the battery ... MoreThis is the 2nd heated jacked I bought. After a month this is what I thought: 5/5 for better heating, 6/5 for better fit and flexibility, -5/5 for the battery storage. I don't know who let the intern design the battery pocket or if it was just a last minute napkin sketch of an idea; but just for the fact that there is no way to keep the battery from tumbling around the pocket during any movement other than sitting and standing almost makes me want to throw it in the dumpster every time. You basically have 2 options, either have an oversize pocket, or a battery bag. If you leave the pocket un-zipped and bend over to pick something up you will lose your battery. If you go for a jog with the pocket open, you will lose your battery. I almost lost my battery on a ski lift after the power cord got caught in my glove as I was pulling my hand out of the pocket Never had this issue with the previous jacket. What's the point of having 2 zippers not even a half inch apart from each other if they just open up to the same oversize pocket. Literally a simple stitch between the zippers or the same mesh pouch from the 1st gen jacket and this would've been a 6 star review from me. Stupidest design from Milwaukee I've seen in a long time, and if I wasn't outside my return window or if it wasn't $3,000 it would've been in a Goodwill or back on the shelf by now. Maybe in 4 years their next generation jacket will have it figured out.
3 stars because of poor customer serviceBought this jacket a little over a year ago, have had no complaints and a lot of compliments ( good piece of advice for Milwaukee make the battery unit flat or curved to hug around our bodies not jab us ) anyways still a really good jacket and my jacket has been tough and still looks new works great except one problem that just happened a little after a year the zipper track just started deteriorating and fell of and I lost my zipper with the Milwaukee logo because the 1 inch of the track fell of but u still tried to wear it without zipping it doesn’t work that great when it’s it’s not fitted around ur body …. I wrote to Milwaukee about the concern or possible recall or even if I could pay to fix it and no reply yet it’s ... More3 stars because of poor customer serviceBought this jacket a little over a year ago, have had no complaints and a lot of compliments ( good piece of advice for Milwaukee make the battery unit flat or curved to hug around our bodies not jab us ) anyways still a really good jacket and my jacket has been tough and still looks new works great except one problem that just happened a little after a year the zipper track just started deteriorating and fell of and I lost my zipper with the Milwaukee logo because the 1 inch of the track fell of but u still tried to wear it without zipping it doesn’t work that great when it’s it’s not fitted around ur body …. I dont get it it’s ur product .. I work for Vw Audi and it’s like saying we don’t fix some parts of your car a dealership has to be able to fix the full car bumper to bumper .. so Milwaukee customer service you need assess this because some customers out there are big Milwaukee fans like me and own a lot of your tools something this simple is like a no care slap in the face to me and all of us thankyou.Forgot to mention the Milwaukee representative sounded like as if she was busy at home and was to the point and offered no solution help or advise .And I quote sorry we do not fix zipper Thankyou for calling byeReally guys ? Come on Milwaukee
I'm a pipefitter on commercial jobsites. It's winter now so I decided to replace my axis jacket that I've put on too much weight to fit into with this Toughshell one. So far the jacket is fantastic as far as heating goes. Heats up quick, and the heated pockets are an awesome touch. Not sure what other reviewers are talking about. It can be zero degrees with the wind ripping around me and I am toasty warm. Maybe they expected a 12v oven, I don't know.Anyway. I have two complaints, one a major flaw, the other just nitpicky. The big flaw. Who the h**** decided that the battery needed a pass through pocket?! This is the worst idea ever. Now every time I bend over I have to worry about the battery and power thing coming flying out of my pocket. You couldn't at least ... MoreI'm a pipefitter on commercial jobsites. The other complaint is the cuffs. Just give me normal flexible jacket cuffs, this velcro strap setup sucks.
Daily, price is good, heating is ok, the model Home Depot carried last year that had heated sleeves was much better. The thing that I hate about it is that the battery falls out of the pocket, has happened at least ten times. Very embarrassing. And I am sure that it's going to break eventually. So you have to keep the left pocket zipped up making it useless. Also it only comes with the usb charger that takes forever. Last year's came with a real 110v charger. Sure the price for last year's jacket was ten dollars more, but I thought l was getting the same jacket and if I would have known about the changes I would not have bought it.
Been looking at this jacket for quite some time, but never pulled the trigger. Finally went to the local Home Depot that had a display to actually try on the jacket for size, and decided after talking to other people that I seen that had one that it was time to stop just sitting on the pot. Of course Home Depot had a fancy display, but we’re not able to sell me a jacket because the Milwaukee representative was routinely absent and they couldn’t contact him, and when he did show up, he normally had nothing other than batteries and screw gun bits. That just means my theory on The Home Depot is correct….. “Everything you need for your house….but nothing you’re actually looking for”At least they were useful enough to provide me with a sample size to try on. I went home, found Federated Tool Supply, ordered the exact jacket, for the same price, low and behold, I had it on my doorstep in Nova Scotia before end of week. Pretty impressed….opened it up, tried it on…..right colour, right size, everything I ordered in one neat little box. Have only wore it a couple of times, so still breaking it in through the paces, so far so good, heats nicely the one or two times I tried it, jacket seems well built, nice material, doesn’t seem to attract or hold regular dirty material, and looks nice, so it looks respectable when meeting clients even considering it is a working jacket. So far so good, happy with the product, and extremely happy with the purchasing process, delivery and dealing with Federated Tool Supply Company. Will be happy to purchase from them again in the future.
to the previous reviewer- I had the very same issue with the battery- their new "pass through" was so poorly thought out- they ALWAYS had a liner inside for the battery but not this model- I had to sew the back pocket shut but left enough room open to have the cable move to the front if I ever wanted to do so- which was hardly ever.what to say though.... the only positives are the liner inside had improved and newer colors in my case the pockets DID feel bigger and better...that was about it. Everything else about this jack sucks.the new color design is uncomfortable and terrible. The buttons don't have as much push and feel as the used to- the buttons and logo is placed HIGHER on the jacket and with the new colar making it HARDER to see what your settings are ... Moreto the previous reviewer- I had the very same issue with the battery- their new "pass through" was so poorly thought out- they ALWAYS had a liner inside for the battery but not this model- I had to sew the back pocket shut but left enough room open to have the cable move to the front if I ever wanted to do so- which was hardly ever.what to say though.... the only positives are the liner inside had improved and newer colors in my case the pockets DID feel bigger and better...that was about it. I'd avoid this model- the blue is a nice change but it can stain easier the older units were ultimately made with more care and attention to detail. they ARE work jackets but I'd like it to have better QCand a message to the manufacturer, ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL, PLEASE MAKE LONGER TALLER JACKETS! I had to upgrade to an XL despite fitting a L better because I'm 198 cm and the L is WAY to short, I can't stand the "bomer jacket" style, some people like it but it looks silly on a taller frame IMO. these jackets NEED to be longer for taller guys, or have a "long and tall" option for the smaller sizes or at least for the large. They are too short. also please put a hoodie on these thicker tough shells
I have the original heated jacket and heated hoodie. Both are still going strong 12 years later. The only cons to the milwaukee heated apparel that I have found are the cheap plastic zippers. I overcame this by taking my jacket and hoodie to a seamstress who installed waterproof YKK metal zippers. It cost me $25.00 and they have worked flawlessly for over 10 years now. I wear the hoodie everyday for 10 to 12 hours a day 6 months out of the year at work. I wear the jacket everywhere else, so they do get used and abused. I would recommend using only the milwaukee batteries in the jackets because the knockoff batteries will overheat and the jacket will shut itself down. This will make you think something is wrong with jacket when in fact it is a bad battery. The ... MoreI have the original heated jacket and heated hoodie. Both are still going strong 12 years later.
