This tool is amazing! It's lightweight, compact, and delivers more than enough performance. I've used this for various amount of projects ranging from hanging shelves, to building chicken coops and remodeling a house. It delivers more than enough torque and hasn't given me any problems. The try LED design makes it very impressive because it illuminates the workspace. There's no weird shadows because it has three leds. Would definitely recommend this to a friend or beginning carpenter. 10 out of 10 for sure.

This impact driver presents a number of significant improvements over an earlier M18 (2757-20) impact driver.1. It is more compact, shorter by 3/4” and just a bit fatter. This is really nice when you need to drive something in a confined space.2. Three speed ranges3. The LED lighting now has three lights and they are all positioned radially around the driver, resulting in excellent illumination on the fastener4. There is a new special self-tapping screw mode in which the driver automatically shuts off when the screw gets to its hilt. It is very easy to use too, select the mode and then just pull the trigger for full power. It magically stops when the screw is done. The trigger control of the speed is very nice and easy to control, very responsive. There is ... MoreThis impact driver presents a number of significant improvements over an earlier M18 (2757-20) impact driver.1. Fast and powerful but I don't really like it. The collet seems too small and not easy to grip. Nice that it has two detent balls. I don't need so much power that I break bits. 1/4" steel isn't meant for so much torque. If you are breaking bits or camming out then you are using the wrong tool or too much power. Not a happy camper. Way too much cam out when running it full out but it is fast. I'll stick with my other branded impacts. I get paid by the hour and can do the job faster rather than hunting for another bit or paying for it. Maybe this is a good fit for you but not me.

I don't know why I waited so long. It's like night and day difference between using a regular drill to drive fasteners. I had some subfloor prep work I needed to do before I could lay a floating hardwood floor. The house was 50 years old and the plywood subfloor nails were popping along the edges causing a creaking sound when ever someone walked on it. I was dreading how long it was going to take me to screw down this whole room after having just completed another room with a regular battery drill. Have no fears, enter the M18 Milwaukee Impact driver. This was a larger room and it was done in 1/4 of the time of the smaller room. Yeah, its expensive, but once you've used it you'll realize it is worth it. If you are on the fence just get it. You wont regret it.
Great diver. I own all the prior models, but now my favorite. Shorter and faster than the Surge model. Get the M18 FUEL GEN-4 Impact Driver Rubber Protective Boot. It is great protection and keeps it from sliding off surfaces. I also recomend the Milwaukee M18/M12 FUEL GEN-4 Bit Holder. I leave fewer loose bits lying around jobsites, very handy. I do not like the switch locarion. I am constantly changing it with my pinky. Needs a new location.
I left a review titled questionable YouTube reviews on the Home Depot site and gave it five however this tool does Have an Achilles’ heel actually a couple. I still believe some of the YouTube reviews are influencing some of the negative reviews left on other sites that being said after working with this tool every day now it has a couple problems that I found hard to believe at first. The first one the tool runs way too hot I’m surprised Milwaukee released a impact that runs as hot as this one does. The second problem is it has a hard time running self tapping screws in a production work capacity. It will get hot and start to stall regardless if you’re in self tapping mode or speed three. The first one the tool runs way too hot I’m surprised Milwaukee released a impact that runs as hot as this one does. The second problem is it has a hard time running self tapping screws in a production work capacity. It will get hot and start to stall regardless if you’re in self tapping mode or speed three. And I’m not referring to the normal stall to prevent you from stripping out the threads or burning up the tip of the self tapping screw it starts to act erratic and gets very hot. If you’re not running hundreds of self tapping screws and driving most of your fasteners into dimensional lumber or any type of wood this thing is great. Overall I like it but if I didn’t own other impacts and had to depend on this I don’t know how I would feel sorry Milwaukee just being honest I love your tools was a little let down.
I would recommend finding an older generation of this impact driver. I work in a sign installation shop and 3 of us have this same tool and all 3 get so hot after running in self tapping screws for maybe an hour that you can't touch the motor housing on top because it will burn you. Mine got so hot it seized up and doesn't spin anymore. Also it's not as comfortable to use as my old milwaukee impact driver, the back plate I guess I would call it on the motor housing that says fuel brushless is held on by four screws and the one that is on my thumb side rubs so bad on my thumb that I now have a pretty painful blister. I would honestly not purchase this tool again.
Purchased my first one of these in January 28, 2023. Writing this review in may of 2023 and I’m on my 4th one of these impacts. Each one has had an issue with cycling through speeds without my input. Even the one I’ve had for just 4 days now. 2 have had issues with bits falling out. 2 have had an issue with impact action. The first one I had would not spin properly and only used impact after just about 10 minutes of use.Garage door repair/install in Las Vegas, Nevada. Not even during the hot part of the year yet. Luckily I’ve been able to replace them directly at Home Depot but very sad that all 4 have had issues within 90 days of original purchase.
I was sent an email by Milwaukee asking for my review of their 5-Tool Combo Kit, and the picture they sent me doesn't match what I bought from Home Depot. I purchased the M18 Fuel Combo Kit that came with the M18 Fuel Hammer Drill, Impact Driver, Blower, Oscillating Multi-Tool, and their 4-1/2" / 5" Grinder.I ordered this kit for Christmas because all of my older tools were destroyed in Hurricane Ian back in late September. I was coming from a mish mash of DeWalt, Harbor Freight etc and I must say that I absolutely LOVE these M18 Fuel tools from Milwaukee. I have used all of them to help repair my house and it's been a pleasure. They are by far the best cordless power tools I have ever used. Home Depot has it on their website for $120 but it's always out of stock. I will purchase the bare tool that comes with a M12 battery as part of a promotion, but I would love to find the one that comes with the whole kit. Will Home Depot ever be restocking this kit? I have signed up to be alerted when it becomes available again, but it's been quite a while and nada. I have been keeping an eye on eBay to see if I can grab one there. Thank you in advance!
I have been using Milwaukee M18 and M12 tools for many years. I have purchased several M18 Impact drivers, but this one is the best I have ever owned. The shorter body style is great for getting into tight spots. The only negative I have experienced so far is that because of the shorter body it is also "fatter" up front, making it difficult to get close to tight corners. However, as long as you have the space, you can put in a 6" magnetic bit holder and the problem is solved! I also loved the 3 LED lights positioned around the nose. The faster speed is amazing! Of course, like previous models, it has 3 speed settings as well as a drill setting. I would absolutely recommend this drill.
