Let me start out by saying that I am a HUGE Milwaukee guy. I do not use this PackOut as most do, I use it to transport my fire gear from one fire house to another since I’m a traveler. It’s very convenient because it can fit all of my gear with ease, but after only a month of use the box has broken. Currently the cargo portion is maintaining its integrity, but the corner is broken. I keep this box secured in the bed of my truck so I’m not sure as to how it would have broken so easily. I hope Milwaukee reaches out and helps resolve the issue.

I purchased this chest as a way to gather all of my power tools into 1 waterproof and securable box for transport between projects. So far I have been mostly pleased with this chest. It allows me to have all of my cordless tools together in a secured container which I can easily load , unload and, rol where needed . The downfall about it to me is there is only the hand tray which does allow me to store my batteries and chargers however that is about it. Once I figured out the best arrangement of my tools within it I do not have items sliding inside of it but dividers of some sort would be a nice addition. With the design of the interior it seems to me that dividers could be made which would allow this to become an organized cabinet when on site. The bonus is having ... MoreI purchased this chest as a way to gather all of my power tools into 1 waterproof and securable box for transport between projects. Love the Packout Rolling ToolBox. I keep it in the back of my truck. I keep my booster cables, tow ropes, folding shovel and snow brush in it. Keeps them safe and dry. Very sturdy, well made. Also I am.able to keep it secured in the bed of my truck with my cable lock. I am located in Prince Edward Island, Canada and we get some cold weather and lots of snow. I would very much recomend this product to my friends as well as anyone elsw. Thanks Milwaukee.

Good not GREAT
22 November 2021

I am a professional Generator Excitation Field Engineer. I am in all sorts of situations from nice cement to going across rocks with tools and test equipment to replace old generator control systems. This system is helpful. The locking cases adds additional stability. I would like to be able to lock several of these together on a dolly / cart with 4 wheels. I would like them to lock on top of my job boxes. I have one , I also have the rolling tool box, XL toolbox, the large toolbox, and a bunch of smaller stuff. I hope Milwaukee brings this to the next level by understanding space, terrain, and ability to move more. Love the little divider boxes for lugs, ferrules, small hardware, etc.

Handlebar keeps popping back in when you don'twant
30 May 2023

It's mostly good, but there's a couple issues. Some of it is minor stuff like the removable drop in tool carrier doesn't quite fit, and sometimes the lid doesn't line up right and needs to be forced into place. The bigger issue is the ability to push the rolling tool back away from you (like if you were going out of a house/down stairs) is significantly hampered because the handlebar's catch inside the tool box is a little plastic nub that wears down quickly. Once it wears down you can't really push the tool box away from you easily, especially over something like a door threshhold. There's not enough resistance from the plastic catch inside the handle bar track, so if you're pushing the rolling tool box away from you the handlebar keeps popping off the catch and ... MoreIt's mostly good, but there's a couple issues. Once it wears down you can't really push the tool box away from you easily, especially over something like a door threshhold. There's not enough resistance from the plastic catch inside the handle bar track, so if you're pushing the rolling tool box away from you the handlebar keeps popping off the catch and sliding back into the tool chest when you don't want it to. Basically, it makes it so you can drag the tool chest behind you, but not push it away from you, which is a problem when you're trying to go out a doorway or maneuvering in tight spaces.FWIW, I'm all in on the packout system and the rest of it is great. I think they just need to replace that little plastic nub with a metal catch of some kind, or with stronger plastic.

Hit and miss

I like the idea of a large "trunk style" packout. But there are several drawbacks so far that keeps me from wanting to use this box. The biggest complain I have is that i didn't realize the stacks faced the same direction. if i would have realized this i would have never purchased. In my opinion they should face opposite so when drawer systems are locked on top both stacks will face away can be used while still attached. This also would make detaching on of the stacks (rear in this case) much easier. Maybe there is a reason it was designed this way that i'm missing. My second complain is the storage inside needs come time of divider system other than the little plastic carrier. 3rd is the wheels. just not cutting it. maybe different size or material would help. ... MoreI like the idea of a large "trunk style" packout. Lots of space for tool storage
11 February 2023

I fit my hard hat, backpack full of tools, harness, full 3/8 milwaukee socket set, impact and hammerdrill with case, hackzall, fishtape, a couple high vis vests, resperator, and a small tool pouch that goes on my hip and I still have plenty of room left. The long handle makes it easy to roll around. I also clip on a couple of my packout boxes on top of this one when im traveling. This definetly saves space and prevents things from sliding around in the back of my truck. If you have a decent amount of tools/stuff to take job to job I would recommend this tool chest.

Nice sized box for larger tools, but.....
16 November 2021

I love the size of the box to hold all my larger tools in one place. What I don't understand is why this box was designed with places to insert dividers (which would be a HUGE help!), and yet no dividers were supplied or even available to get! Please provide some stout dividers that will fit in the designed spots of this case. For the retail price paid for this case, they should be supplied free for those of us who've already bought this case! Also, as another user commented on, why does the nice sized handle not lock in fully extended/retracted positions? This really should be a feature available just like it is on the large rolling box. What Milwaukee should do
13 November 2021

The rolling bottom box should be an XL sized single drawer. All the drawer boxes should be as tall as the XL both 2 and 3 drawer.A starter kit should come as an XL sized single drawer roller, a 2 or 3 drawer XL sized drawer box, and medium box.The small box should come with dividers on one side only and foam inserts to custom cut-out. The other side, and center compartments/dividers or tray and little tool box should be add-on options sold separately. All trays, little tool boxes, and dividers should be interchangeable with every packout box.If there isn’t one already, there should be a modular/adjustable dolly/racking system that each flip top box can slide out fully and open the top so I don’t have to disassemble entire tower. There should be a click-on, ... MoreThe rolling bottom box should be an XL sized single drawer. I may not be completely satisfied, but at least it would have been cheaper.

First, the item you asked me to review was returned in favor of the Rolling Tool Box.Second, I've recently purchased additional Packout™ items including the PACKOUT™ 3-DRAWER TOOL BOX 48-22-8443 which was disappointing in one important respect. The 3-drawer tool box did not contain sufficient partitions - only enough to "customize" one of the three drawers. Considering the substantial cost for the unit, I thought it very "pennywise, pound foolish" not to include partitions to completely outfit all three drawers.Further, the accompanying marketing brochure that came with the item showing the various other Packout items did not show anything regarding partitions but I assume extra partitions can be purchased and would like you to tell me where I can go to order ... MoreFirst, the item you asked me to review was returned in favor of the Rolling Tool Box.Second, I've recently purchased additional Packout™ items including the PACKOUT™ 3-DRAWER TOOL BOX 48-22-8443 which was disappointing in one important respect. The 3-drawer tool box did not contain sufficient partitions - only enough to "customize" one of the three drawers.
