I'd buy it in an instant!

I've gone through a couple of different backpacks that I found lacking in various ways, and particularly in comfort. My last one made my back hurt just to look at it. This one is a whole new experience. I finally took it for my first outing this weekend (8 mile hilly hike), packed with a moderate load just to see how it worked for me. The last step of the hike felt like the first -- completely avoided the aching back issues I've suffered in the past. This was a target-rich hike, and I ended up carrying my camera around my neck rather than digging into the pack for each of the frequent photo ops. If it was more of a destination hike (hike in to see a waterfall, for example), I would have been more inclined to leave the camera in the pack until needed.

I have been actively seeking a combo pack/photopack for some time. This product clearly addresses this need. It is well designed and well built. I have one relatively minor nit. It would be nice if the manufacturer offered the option of the large or smaller storage insert at time of purchase. I suspect that most owners who do a lot of backpacking will opt for the smaller insert as more room for hiking clothes and other gear. It is unlikely that longer distance hikers would want too carry a full bag of camera gear in these situations.
I tried about 5 different backpacks designed for the outdoors, and decided this one was the best for me. Extremely comfortable for a bag this size and full of gear. Weather-sealed seams and zippers, removable waist-belt, removable ICU unit, huge side pockets that can hold massive tripods or extra large water bottles, can also attach tripods to the front if desired. In the camera section I fit 2 bodies, 1535mm, 2470mm 70200mm, Sigma 150600mm, filters, batteries, etc......In the outer pockets, plenty of space for layers, snacks, headlamp, powerbank, etc...........The only thing I wish it has was a quick access pocket. It is nice to be able to pull out a camera fast with lens attached from time to time, when you don't need or want to take the pack off, lay it down, and open up the back panel for an unplanned quick shot. But the bag is so perfect for me in every other way, it is fine. I was able to attach a toploader/holster directly to the waist-belt, so this in a way effectively gives me access to an at the ready camera on my hip. But a side access to the camera bag itself would definitely be more ideal.
So far, I love all of the features of this pack, (too many for me to list, check out all the pic.'s & video of this pack). I haven't tested it as extensively as I plan to yet, but for somebody like me with a bad back, so far this bag is very comfortable to carry, even with heavy camera equipment. One of my biggest reasons for buying this pack was because I can fit my Nikon D5600 + grip with attached 2X Teleconverter, 200-500 Nikkor Zoom with lens hood attached & extended in it & access it from the top or back of the pack. I also carry my other lenses, 70-200 Nikkor Zoom, 105 Nikkor Macro & 18-140 Nikkor Zoom & lens filters, extra battery, etc. & still have room to spare. This pack also seems to be very durable so far. Great job MindShift!!! Also, great service from ... MoreSo far, I love all of the features of this pack, (too many for me to list, check out all the pic.'s & video of this pack). This bag is the best mixture of a hiking and photo bag. Yes a true hiking pack is more comfortable, but is terrible at holding and accessing camera gear. A a standard camera bag, holds gear good, but no space for outdoor stuff and gets comfortable after walking many miles on a trail. This Mindshift bag is the best balance you will find. The camera compartment holds 2 Canon R bodies with L-brackets attached, RF 15-35mm, RF 24-70mm, RF 70-200mm, RF 50mm, Sigma 150-600mm Lens, filters, extra batteries, memories cards, etc........Then all the other pockets outside for tripod, water bottles, jacket, snacks, laptop, Jetboil, food, and so much more.
So, I analyzed this to death, hours spent on reviews and videos comparing the differences between the various bag options. I needed something that worked well for a day out in the field and a 3 week cross country photo adventure. My previous bag (PD) just didn't cut it. I also wanted something that matched my lifestyle (I'm a water bottle guy not a water bag). Flexibility for the innards (small amount of camera gear vs everything and the kitchen sink) was important. Also important was ease of use, easy to get into, easy to buckle back up. Also very important, which was a disaster with my last bag (yes PD), I needed something that acted and felt like a backpack. Weight on the hips, easy to adjust, solid sternum strap, any bag that does not have this is not worth ... MoreSo, I analyzed this to death, hours spent on reviews and videos comparing the differences between the various bag options. Weight on the hips, easy to adjust, solid sternum strap, any bag that does not have this is not worth whatever you would pay for it.I've been on a number of hikes/trips with the bag, and so far it checks all the boxes.Solid as a rock, excellent workmanship, lots of nooks to place items, very comfortable on long heavy hikes, I would highly recommend this bag.Things that maybe aren't so terrific? Would love to have ThinkTank offer more bags/cases/storage (doodads, batteries/cards/clothing etc. Also a small camera case insert option. They do have a medium camera case insert but they didn't put a lot of thought into it. It's an inch taller that the insert that comes with the bag (making it difficult to close the bag) and you can't strap it so you can reach it from the top.
The best dedicated camera backpack for hiking, however, since this pack has a rear access panel it limits the ability to have a fully adjustable harness for a perfect fit. I used this pack on a 13 mile hike with about 2000 feet of elevation gain and on the hike out I started to feel the soreness on my shoulders. There's absolutely nothing with the pack, it's just the trade off of comfort for ease of access. I may return this because I need the comfort of an adjustable harness from a traditional hiking backpack. This is AWESOME pack, you won't be disappointed unless you are a serious hiker and you don't need quick access to your gear. YMMV.
This Mindshift backpack is the perfect bag if you're looking for the following:- Top notch quality- this bag has it all, great materials, secure fasteners, waterproofing features, with an impressive build quality.- Design - after having several other highly recommended bags for my photography business, they were literally confusing to use. With some other bags you literally need a map to find gear that you've tucked away in a side pocket. I recently returned a top of the line bag because of the non-logical, unintuitive way the it was designed. The Mindshift bag has easy to access pockets and storage of your gear. It's light yet sturdy and I find my gear is very safe and secure. It may be a bit pricey for some but you really do get a lot for your money with this ... MoreThis Mindshift backpack is the perfect bag if you're looking for the following:- Top notch quality- this bag has it all, great materials, secure fasteners, waterproofing features, with an impressive build quality.- Design - after having several other highly recommended bags for my photography business, they were literally confusing to use.
