This lens is simply amazing - especially at it's price point. I have owned and used 3 different versions of the Leica Noctilux over the years and this lens is 95% of the Noctilux quality at a fraction of the cost. It works perfectly on my Fuji Xpro 2 and XH1 and focusing is quite accurate and easy using focus peaking. I've spent the last hour with this on both my X-Pro2 and X-Pro3. I'm absolutely stoked on the IQ. Much is made of the razor thin depth of field in online reviews, but it's not that bad to work with. Focus peaking makes it a treat, but is definitely easier on the XP3 with the larger EVF display.The rendering is fantastic, as everyone says it is. Images have a pop to them that I really like and the bokeh quality is beautiful. I believe this will be living on one of the two XP bodies permanently.The aperture ring is very easy to move, being non-detented. I've heard folks say they've used a little gaffers tape to permanently put the lens at f0.95. Clearance on the XP2 is no problem. That minor niggle doesn't really bother me though as I don't think it'll be anything more than a cosmetic issue on the XP3. Folks suggest it might put pressure on the lens mount ring, but I dunno. I bought my XP3 second hand and I'm planning on using the hell out of it, as I have my XP2. Not gonna be bothered by a little scratch.

It makes a nice dreamy effect if the object has attractive eyes like a golden eyed black cat. It is also good when stopped down as a medium focal length lens but its weight is quite substantial and on the xpro3, it is unyielding. The focus peak is strong when fully opened making it easy to manually focus. It however does flare badly if there's any back light.It's quite sharp in the center region but only in the center. The rendering is not as good as the Nikon z 50mm/1.2 nor is it as sharp as the Fuji 16mm/2.8 or the 8-16mm/2.8. However it is a lot brighter, so naturally it is good for low light situations. The lens arrived in an attractive faux leather, foam lined box looking more like what I would expect with a fancy watch. Since then Ive shot about 200 photos encompassing landscapes, birds and closeups. Thankfully, all the controls glide smoothly and the lens mounts tightly to the Fuji camera body. Color rendition is good and bokeh at wide apertures is delightful. Most surprising to me is the overall sharpness, not at f/0.95 except in the center, but when stopped down to f/1.4 sharpness improves greatly and continues to improve corner to corner to least to f/8. To use this lens effectively the camera must have good focus assist, as with any manual lens. I didn't own a camera at that time but I'm so happy that Mitakon Zhongyi made this bokeh beast on Fuji body.The lens is quite heavy, it feels like it's heavier than my 56 1.2. The build quality is pretty good, very smooth aperture ring and focal ring, not too tight but also not loose. Perfect friction. Love it. The silver coating is a bit coarse in my opinion, thus it looks and feels a little bit cheap and plasticky (but it's all metal).The only thing that I don't like is the clickless aperture ring. I don’t think this lens is as much of a bargain as I’d been led to believe by other reviews before trying it. I saw it pretty widely praised for sharpness, bokeh, and so on. But although you can certainly create lovely images with it, it's fun to shoot, and I’m not disparaging its potential as an artistic tool, I find it has a lot of optical flaws that I have to be very careful to avoid. There’s glaringly obvious astigmatism, chromatic aberration, vignetting, field curvature, and distortion just to name a few problems with it. The result is often unnatural colors in out-of-focus areas (green and purple fringing), ugly-shaped specular highlights, and so on. I’m rating this lens 5 stars only because it fulfills the look I want, and is a complimentary companion to my Fuji 35mm f/2. It does have some issues that I can accept, but feel I should point them out:1) My copy focused past infinity. This was fixed by loosening the 3 screws on the focus barrel and resetting it (by trial and error).2) At f/0.95, it is not sharp. The center is sharper than the edges, but not nearly as sharp than at f/2. However, I’m only going to use this lens at 0.95 - otherwise own it?3) The aperture ring really needs detents.4) The bayonet mount is held onto the rear of this 1 lb. lens by 3 tiny screws, compared to the camera’s mounting plate it connects to: 6 hefty screws on the X-H1. The glass in this lens is simply outstanding. I am thrilled at the images that come out of this lens, and it makes me love my fuji just a little more. I am a film type of guy and love that slower shooting experience so the manual focus is right at home with me. I haven't seen much CA but people will say it varies copy to copy, and I believe that. The colors pair great with the fuji bodies in my opinion. I am a fan of the declicked aperture, and I haven't had issues with any creep. The vignette is only minor wide open and the lens is an amazing performer stopped down as well. This lens is great. The aperture and focus variation is a bit annoying and I find the lens markings a bit tacky as if it was drawn by hand, but its all superficial, and the truth of it is, I am in love with using this lens regularly.
