2nd Set of Mizuno Irons

Love the look and feel and price was right for a full set. This is my second set of Mizuno Hot Metal. Switched to the standard Hot Metal vs my previous Hot Metal Pro for a little more forgiveness. The extra weight in the toe has pretty much eliminated the hard left side movement of the ball. It can still happen but it's typically operator error. The look is high end, especially for a player improvement iron. The Golf Galaxy fitting helped me pick a lighter shaft which I needed as I am getting older. But also the proper shaft; regular and not senior.

After 19 years playing Ping G2's.....these have made me fall in love with hitting a golf ball again. Was also 1st round with 923 GW, SW, LW. Butter! You folks really outdid yourselves with these. I sincerely thank you.BTW - I took 4 days of vacation, covered almost 700 miles to try EVERYTHING made - these were it, for me. 50 years old, now playing a stiff shaft, and BOOM! Unbelievable!!!!Tip of the cap to your engineers. Picked up 30 yards on my 8 iron, higher ball flight and steeper descent angle. HOW?!?You will be my first choice when trying new clubs from here on out.

I bought Mizuno hot metal 923's. Do not unless you don't need or want your clubs for months. The wait time is 4-8 weeks. When I did get mine the gap wedge was missing. I got 6-sw. Mistakes happen except with mizuno who blamed me then the retailer, I had the receipts and so did the retailer. This didn't matter to mizuno who said there's nothing they can do, no discount, no sending me the missing club earlier than waiting another 4-6 weeks and they don't overnight anything. This is terrible customer service. I hate mizuno and have found someone to buy these clubs for what I paid for them so I can be done with mizuno. Don't waste your time with mizuno, there are are so many better options.

Great clubs - loving the upgrade
2 July 2023

Great clubs! Had Ping G25s and was due for a new set. Thought I'd do the Pings again but went in for a fitting. Tried various clubs and then these (JPX923) since I've read glowing reviews.I'm a 12 handicap and hit these irons about 15 yards further than my G25s and 8-10 yards further than the other clubs I tried with a higher APEX.Well worth the $$ for the clubs and the fitting. Got exactly the shaft, lie and loft for my swing (which isn't bad but far from perfect). Also bought the loft wedge (60) to go with the set. I've played with these clubs for about 5 rounds and I absolutely love them. Trying to get dialed in but I hit them straighter and farther than the previous and my scores are improving. Mizuno JPX 923 Tour
18 August 2023

I received my custom specification (Nippon 950GH Neo stiff shaft +.25" length) set of JPX 923 Tour 35 days after placing my order. Thank you TGW and Mizuno for the excellent service!I consider the JPX 923 Tour to be a midsize head, which these days is about as small an iron head size as the major brands seem to offer. The head size makes this design suitable for all skill levels, from beginner to Tour pro. At address it looks good because the relatively thin topline prevents the head from appearing too clunky. Impact sound-feel is pleasing, not too muted or too loud.I wanted to achieve high trajectory shots from easy tempo swings and the combination of Nippon 950GH Neo shaft combined with this 923 Tour head seems to be a good fit. Previously I played MP63 with DGS300 shafts and had a 7-iron carry of 150 yards. My new set is allowing me to swing with an easy tempo to carry an 8-iron 150 yards; so even though the 923 Tour is not especially strong lofted or advertised as a "distance design", if you've been using irons that are an older model, you might recognize 10 yards or so more carry.

Nice irons but poor fitting
13 August 2023

I got the big to buy some Mizuno irons after hitting some forged 923. I got fitted and ordered the clubs. I revived them almost 8 weeks later. Went to the range and was just a horrible experience. I was hitting all my shot thin and everything felt like I was kitting rocks. Gone was the soft feel of others I had it. My fitter had me at +1/2, +3 upright, and +2 degrees stronger. The shafts are True Temper Dynamic Gold in stiff flex. I can still grab my Titleist AP1 and flush them, then grab the Mizzunos and they just feel like crap. I’ve been to the range multiple times and it’s not getting any better. Will probably have to sell them and start the process all over again with taking a loss on the ones I just purchased. I know what the fitter was trying to achieve in the simulator but in real life it has horrible results. As far as the irons go, they are beautiful with exceptional build quality.

The reason for the 1 star is because of the Mizuno warranty that I'm trying to deal with now
20 March 2023

The reason for the 1 star is because of the Mizuno warranty that I'm trying to deal with now. So my 9i on the back near the bottom of the cavity has multiple small holes, looks like an error in the casting process. I contacted Mizuno customer service showed them the problem. Their policy is to return the item to the retailer you purchased it from so then they can ship it to them! Makes no sense and increases the time I am missing a club! Makes no sense to me why I have to take an extra step to get a problem fixed. Mizuno customer service is very lacking and miles behind Callaway in that department. I had a warranty claim with them and they sent me a label to return the club and I got a new replacement within days. The irons themselves are amazing. This club is a thing of beauty
25 December 2022

Everything exudes confidence as you look at the club head at address. Truly a gorgeous iron. I’m coming from a set of Cobra F Max irons. Totally different look and feel. Though the YouTube reviews comment on a thick top line, it is much thinner than the Cobras. The sound off the face is an unfamiliar click. Solid, but much different. Can’t say I like it or dislike it, it’s just a different sound. The trajectory is higher than my Cobras, but longer. Hit the Cobra 7 iron around 140 but these Mizuno irons were closer to 150. I can’t wait to play these irons once the weather improves…confident these are the right irons for me. If I have a criticism…I am not a fan of the grips, at all! Maybe it was the cold weather, but the stock grip ( Iomic Sticky) was a disappointment.

Won't buy Mizuno ever again
29 March 2023

Bought the Hot Metal Pro 923s, found a defect in my 9i. Reached out to Mizuno to get it taken care of. Assumed customer service would be like Callaway or Taylormade who work quick to replace the club. Nope, not Mizuno, they make you go through the retailer, send them pictures of the defect, wait for a few days for them to get approval. Then you get a shipping label and take it to UPS. Then according to the customer service rep it takes 3-4 weeks with any repair and even replacements take that long. All the rep could tell me was thats just production. Prob told me thats just production about 8x. He also admitted to me they had a ton of clubs returned that need repairs. Mizuno is miles behind Callaway and Taylormade in this department. I told him if I knew about these issues before I don't know if I would've bought these clubs. He told me yea thats fine, acted he could care less and just wanted to get off the phone. I will never buy anything Mizuno again after this. Apparently clubs are not built great with the tons of backed up repair orders. Worst customer service and warranty polices I have ever dealt with.

great irons for slow swing speeds
19 October 2023

purchased these one month ago after hitting Taylor Made and Callaway irons at golf store on monitor. At 70 and a bladder cancer survivor I now have a 70mph swing speed. That's as fast as I can go now. I tried a graphite shaft and it did not increase my swing speed more that 1mph. So I went with regular steel shafts. At Rend Lake I was hitting greens regularly with these irons. They were bringing rain with their towering height and stopping with some backspin. They replace my 10 year old Burner irons. With Cobra woods and Mizuno hot metal irons , I'm really enjoying my rounds . They pair well with the ProV1. If you are looking for new irons, give these a try against all the other brands out there. I'm thrilled with them.

Stiff Flex. JPX 923 Forged is made from a single billet of Chromoly and back milled from heel to toe. This process creates extremely fast ball speeds in a compact profile now with a thinner topline. The new VChassis delivers a denser more satisfying feel at impact. Additional bevelling to the trailing edge improves turf interaction for smoother shoots from most lies.
