I LOVE everything ModPodge but this product was tricky for me. It has a more watery consistency compared to their other products. My other issue with it is when applying it to a glass or even a metal tumbler, there doesn't seem to be a way to apply it without the brush strokes becoming permanent. My project ended up looking very sloppy. I can't report on how well it protects art from the dishwasher as my projects are still in the 28 day curing process (yes, TWENTY EIGHT DAYS TO CURE!). I'll do more research for a better application technique before I use it again.

I have been using Other products of the same brand for years, but had never tried this. It needs to cure for 3 weeks, and I have only just completed the first project- a coffee mug with photos decoupaged onto it, so I haven’t done the dishwasher test yet. The photos were easy to apply with no wrinkles and you can barely feel the ridge where the edges of the photos meet the mug; they look as though they are printed on, which is fab! I’m delighted with this product.

Heard about this product watching YouTube videos on how to decoupage on glass. I found a nice glass platter and used this Mod Podge to decoupage it's underside with decorative paper and fabric, to make this Seder player for our Passover dinner. Because of it's size, I hand-washed the decoupaged platter after using it, and the water did not affect the decoupage. NOTE - I don't know how it would have held up in the dishwasher, but if that's your goal, do a test run. It takes time to fully cure, so factor that in if you want to dish-wash what you use it for. This works great. Does its job. Nice clear coat. But the only problem I had and I'm not sure if it was the paint I used or the mod or how I put it on. The paint started to smear off while applying the mod. So there was small gaps where the paint came off when applying the mod. I was able to touch it up after it dried and it looks totally fine. But I rather not have to go back and fix it after applying. Does its job for dishwasher tho!!
I followed ALL of the instructions, even allowing extra time for drying in between coats, and curing for 5 weeks instead of 4 weeks. The very first time I put the bowls in the top rack of the dishwasher to wash them (even putting the letters/mod podge area face up, away from the spray arm), every one of them came out with the mod podge all bubbled and peeled. (Pictured are a couple of before, then after the first wash photos.) I tried this on 18 different bowls, and the same thing happened on each one. What a huge waste of time!
I purchased product about a year ago for a DIY cermaic mug project (using just regular freehand Sharpies designs) for the holidays & I was very skeptical it'd actually work for dishwasher but to my surprise (after the month long cure) my designs were still visible (& when you wash by hand its the same-- I did about 10-15 coats for each mug but you have to let it dry 24 hours in between each application) It does have a textured feel (which I kind of like for certain projects) it's not as "high gloss" as you'd think but more like "opaque", "milky", or "matte finish" but it does dry clear. Now if you clean your brush (or use multiple brushes) for each application it'll help. I've not done any transfers or decoupage & I've yet use my Oil paint Sharpies so to be ... I’m not sure if I bought the right kind for my project, but I used this on a glass calendar to cover up my writing (done in sharpie.) I wanted to make the writing more permanent, since I was using dry erase markers on the glass- and that erases Sharpie. It made the glass pretty streaky, and the Sharpie was still erasable with the Mod Podge on it. It was unsuccessful for this project, but I’m looking forward to using it for other projects in the future.
I love Mod Podge and have been working with it for years. I had never tried the Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge and finally decided to give it a try on a small glass bottle I decoupaged to use as a vase. I found this particular product to be very thick and a bit lumpy. The application was not smooth and although I waited several weeks for it to cure before washing, when I did finally wash the vase, the paper began lifting in certain spots. It was my first time using the product so I'm not sure if the thickness and clumpiness is an issue solely with the batch I purchased, or if the Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge is intended to be that way. I will.give it another try on a different project and report back.
Bought this as recommended by the store assistant as children in our Afterschool Club were making mugs for Father’s Day. Used ceramic pens and used the modge podge to seal the designs. Unfortunately the modge podge made all of the colours run and made the children’s work awful. Would definitely not recommend this and both the children and I were very disappointed ☹️
Used this to seal a large decorative paper mache bowl so that it could easily be wiped clean. It was easy to apply with a regular brush. I waited the recommended drying time between the two coats. Resulted in a gloss seal and gave the texture an almost leather like feel. Looking forward to the dishwasher safe Matte formula.
