At some point in life you get to the age / stage where you tell yourself you need to start writing things down. This is the perfect sized pocket notebook that actually fits in a normal pocket. And the hardcovers prevent the wrinkling of the corner pages if you share my ocd.

The price is average but the quality is great, it is nicely assembled and glued. The journals lasts for a long time. The paper for the sketchbook is smooth yet soft at the same time, which means that graphite really penetrates into the paper. Inks and fountain pens also work nice on the paper, the ink does not go through unless you add a lot with a brush(in that case buy the watercolor version). The tone is warm white, leaning towards a khaki color which means that if you take it outside it will not hurt or tire your eyes under direct sunlight. Conte and charcoal work really nice but add fixative unless you want your conte or charcoal drawings to smear. This ones are 25% cotton and the rest is wood pulp acid free paper, which means it will not yellow over time but cotton is better as it can last longer. Perhaps the cotton version would be called Art Journal.
I’ve bought a few of Moleskine notebooks in the past and this one is just as good. My only bother is the elastic strap is a bit loose on the particular unit I choose to buy. I think it was just the one I bought, not every one like it, I hope. Overall great quality. It’s easy to write on. It looks sleek. This particular unit is easily carried in a pocket or small bag or pouch. The narrow rule is spaced well enough for small print to be read. Thanks Moleskine for a great product.
After an extensive search to find a small Moleskine Classic Ruled Pocket Notebook, to match the one I already have, I was delighted to find it online at Walmart! The quality is great, and it's a perfect 3.5x5.5" size. The Moleskine website had every style except that one. I've been using the notebook during the pandemic to create a "bullet-point" journal, keeping track of what I do every day so I don't feel like I've done nothing all day. I actually bought two of the notebooks (192 pages each,) but I pray the pandemic doesn't last that long!
A great journal, but not suitable for fountain pens. I have 4 different fountain pens and I’ve tried 2 different types of moleskins - a pad and a journal. The ink bleeds into the paper and also bleeds through the page. I was assured in the stationery store that Moleskin journals were the best quality paper. My experience revealed otherwise. Very disappointing.
Generally I love Moleskine sketchbooks - I own several - however the paper in this one is SO thin that I can't use it for what I had hoped (sketching & drawing). It is near see-through and wrinkles at the touch. I thought I read the descriptions carefully, but the weight of the paper did not stand out to me as different than what I had purchased here before. Even so, I can't imagine any artist purposely wanting to sketch on this paper.The review is for the sketchbook only, not the site. Dick Blick is wonderful and I'll continue buying my art supplies here, but I would not buy this particular moleskine again.
I use this notebook for sketching and drawing, and so far it's been workin' pretty well! The notebook as a whole is super snazzy and looks really nice, and the quality of the notebook is top notch👌🏻! Even if I use sharpies and alcohol based markers it doesn't bleed through onto the next page. The only downside I've noticed so far is how markers sometimes react to the paper. When using too much ink of a mid toned marker, the ink starts to make a dotted pattern, and I can't figure out why. It's not that huge of a problem though, since it's not all that noticeable unless you really focus on the dots.
As expected the quality of this moleskine notebook is impeccable. The paper is thick, ink will not bleed through paper. The rounded corners make for a smooth product. The hard cover is durable and prevents pages from being folded or marred in any way. The attention to detail, like the elastic closure band and braided bookmark give this tiny notebook style and function. Highly recommended.
