It takes some practice to get it right, but when you've learnt how to use it properly, it's really good. The trick is to not load the whole thing up with a huge amount of paint. It only needs a little bit. Then you have to approach the skirting board or cornice at a 45 degree angle, dragging it along the plaster board to take off any excess paint. THEN you run it along the border so you get a nice straight line with no excess paint. It took me half the room to get the technique right, and I'd still use a brush to do verticals where walls joint, but for cornices and skirting, it works great!

Wheels are too small, causing contact with the opposite surface. I've used other edgers that have worked well, but this one has some critical flaws.

Similar to James’ review, you’re better off taping. I have been in the process of painting my entire property for a few years now and I was excited to see that monarch released this product, as I hold them in high regards.I was disappointed to say the least when I used this. The rollers that contact the surface are too close in comparison to the liner that holds the paint. The difference is so small, that it was difficult to measure on a combination square. This results in paint being applied to where it shouldn’t and thus, is a waste of money, time and effort.

Worst paint edger I have ever used. Doesn't give a continuous straight edge. CRAP...
Worst Edger I have used in 30 years. Bring back Shur-Line
It works perfectly well if you know the trick. I watched a video for a different brand but same design and the trick is not to dip the edger in to the paint but use a brush to put the paint into the edger. It will consume more time but still quicker than painting the edges with brush.I didn’t even put painters tape to my cornice and I was able to paint the edges well and clean.
I bought this today and I can’t recommend it enough. I taped up all my edges and away I went! So quick and easy. I can’t say why it would be like with out taping the edges but I wasn’t game enough to skip that step
bought this edger 3 days ago, threw it in the bin to-day as does not do the job as stated i was always wiping off excess paint on skirting and did not dare trying it on wall corners.my advice is to tape all areas required as it just as quick and satisfaction is guaranteed and no mess.
