So my 9 year old daughter was super excited for this Animal Crossing game to come out, be I was a bit intimidated because I never played the game like she has. 1st off it comes with a few cardboard sheets of pop out token type things, which I recommend having a ziplock bag ready to store them in. Then there's 4 characters, some cards, and dice. There's still a " Go to Jail" spot which is kind of funny. Each player has to make it around the board once before collecting the 1st skill card as I understand it....but again I could be totally wrong, because when reading the instructions, I got super confused. Would’ve been nice if the pieces weren’t so small, and made of board. Just some things you should know: You have to pop all the pieces from a few boards. And you have to put stickers of the icons onto the die yourself. The stickers are slightly bigger than the sides of the die. The dice are smaller than regular dice. As it is ACNH, you play with Bells instead of fake USD. Bells are also board material. It’s a good, cute version of the game. Just be extra careful with this one.

Our family LOVES Monopoly any play various different themed Monopoly games. We love A/C so we just had to dive in!! Highly recommend watching a video tutorial to get started. We tried to follow by the paper instructions but we were a little confused. The video tutorials are much more easier to follow. We also recommend buying yourself a small plastic container that has approx 24 little divider pockets (like a bead sorter/container). My daughter already has this Target "Make It Real Bead Drawer Jewelry Kit" so we recycled one of the plastic storage cases for the little coins in this AC game. Unless you want it for collection purposes, this game was made cheap and horrible. I was so disappointed in this game. The other Nintendo themed board games I've played have been great, especially the Mario edition of life.... However I was not pleased with this one at all. It's made insanity cheap, like 5$ basic monopoly edition cheap. The characters don't stand on their own, they always fall over, the bells are punch out cardboard that easily tears when punching them out and the game itself is just flat out not fun... It feels like there's no real purpose to it. Our family loves board games and have tons of themed ones we love, but we couldn't even finish the first game with this. Super fun and adorable, simple enough for smaller kids, still quite enjoyable for teens and adults, and without the long game play that sometimes precludes our family from playing the “real” Monopoly game. We love the Animal Crossing New Horizons game on Switch, and we find that this game cleverly imitates the original. Two things I’d love to see improve: (1) Devise better storage for all the tiny pieces, as separating them to set up the board becomes tedious; and (2) Need to include more bell, bell bag, and character tokens with the game because we have run out during play and had to get creative with IOUs from the bank and other objects to signify who discovered an island. I intend to write to Hasbro to see if they can remedy both issues. This game comes with a lot of pieces that require serious set up. After about 25-30 minutes of setting things up (putting stickers on a dice, popping out fossil pieces, bell pieces, and so much more) we got started. We had to reread the instructions a few times, as we misunderstood some rules initially. Once we got the hang of it, we were obsessed. I'm an ACNH player myself, but my boyfriend is not. We both had fun with this very different and new take on Monopoly. Finishes a game takes wayyyy less time than traditional Monopoly! I recommend grabbing little baggies that you can place similar individual pieces in, to keep organized and prevent losing something.
I got this as a gift and love this game not only because I love animal crossing but because it’s really fun!! It’s not just monopoly decorated with animal crossing features. It’s a complete different version of the original monopoly game. Only issue we came across with was that the resource chips were cheaply made to the point that we had to glue the price onto the back of the resource tokens! Only a handful were attached with the price. Also, perhaps just a preference but I would appreciate having the tokens a bit bigger other than the player tokens. Regardless, once we glued the tokens with the designated prices it wasn’t a huge issue because we honestly enjoyed playing the game.
I bought this for my 7 yr. old granddaughter. Way too complicated, too many small cardboard tokens that ended up all over the place. What a mess! One dice meant the game went along at a snail's pace. No strategy to game at all. Ran out of "money" because you don't have to really pay for anything like rent or hotels, etc. Socialism at its best. We ended up adding dice to speed up the game, donating money to the bank and using the resource chips as credits as a substitute for money. No point to game and my granddaughter didn't like it either. She got bored after a while.
Please be warned, this is totally different from the original Monopoly game. That being said, my 12 & 7 year old daughters & I have fun playing it, though it’s not a quick game. Takes a decent amount of time to set up & get through. When we first played the game, we forgot to use the Skill cards. To be honest, I think I like it better without that aspect of the game. I like the Decoration cards, very reminiscent of the video game. Had I done a little research beforehand, I might have skipped on it but it is included in our game night rotation.
