I like that it does that so you know what the speaker is doing. You use the volume on the speaker and your electronic device to make the music as low or as loud as you want. This speaker gets very, very loud. I honestly don't need it too loud, but it is nice for a family or group having a party who needs loud music to be heard for everyone. The music quality is good, but not great. It sounds pretty clear, but a little fuzzy, and it has more treble than bass in the music. I increased the bass on my electronic device to add more bass. I switch between the outdoor and the indoor mode, and I found the outdoor mode had so much better quality sounding music then the indoor mode. I think the indoor mode is for suttle music effects where you can hear the singer's voice more than the notes, but the outdoor mode is made for large parties; I can hear the notes more clearly and it sounds like it has less treble, but I heard the singer's voice less. I also like that you can charge a device to the speaker while it is on. It is great for your cell phone or other electronic devices you may need to use later. Overall I love this speaker. I am amazed how loud it really gets and how useful it is. I love how easy it is to use too. The only downside is the quality of the music sound is lacking a little in both indoor and outdoor modes. It just sounds a little fuzzy, not as clear as I'd want it, but it still works good.

Don’t bother with “Nigel”s review, he doesn’t know how to appreciate an excellent product. This is a Large speaker with some weight to carry. Not a bad thing just something to note. Great look, the red is truly red and looks awesome. The boom box style with triangular shape is very enjoyable. Overall sound is clear, the bass is felt and mixes clean. The speaker is 120w and sounds huge outdoors. Battery lasts me around 6-8 hours depending on volume level. Worth every penny.

After I charged this, I tested it out by hooking it to my phone {which was incredibly easy} then pulled up YouTube and put on cocomelon. The sound quality is so good! My almost one year old started dancing to her favorite show. I had the volume not even halfway up and my older children from upstairs heard it. That weekend we decided to have a cookout and jammed to some tunes. This Bluetooth speaker worked all afternoon and never died. It has a nice handle on it which is convenient so you can easily move it around. It does have a little weight to it since it is so big. I also LOVE the fact that I can charge my phone from the usb port! I have never seen a speaker like that! It also comes equip with a microphone and aux input {which are located on one side of the speaker}. So, you can turn any family night into a karaoke night. The volume buttons are located on the other side, and it has an indoor/outdoor option. I have plenty of portable speakers, but this Monster 3.0 is by far my favorite!
