Mont Blanc Explorer Ultra blue is a fresh and bright aquatic summer fragrance. You get a touch of fruitiness in the opening from bergamot mixed with some spiciness from pink pepper along with a very sea salty vibe from the aquatic notes. As it dries down it becomes a bit woody and earthy which comes from the leather, wood accords, and patchouli. It is a smooth composition that blends well and transitions nicely. Longevity from this fragrance is about average, with around 4 - 5 hours on my skin with moderate projection. This is a good daytime scent and is suitable for the office. It can be worn for formal or non formal occasions as it is not overly sweet or overbearing. Seasonwise I would recommend spring or summer as the aquatic nature of this scent makes it more ... MoreMont Blanc Explorer Ultra blue is a fresh and bright aquatic summer fragrance. Overall this is a pleasant scent but not a superstar because the longetivity and projection could be a bit better. It also isn't the most unique frangrance given the scent profile but it certainly should be pleasing to the average nose. My girlfriend was a fan of this one so it also gets brownie points for that.

I don't know why, but I have wanted to reread Hemmingway since using the complimentary bottle of Montblanc Explorer Ultra Ble Eau de Parfum that I received. I know that sounds strange when reading a review of a scent, but it is the truth. Montblanc says the fragrance "embraces the explorer's adventurous spirit to embark on an epic olfactory journey." I don't know about all that, but I will say the notes of bergamot and citrus with hints of marine, fine woods, and leather make for a unique and pleasant aroma. The scent lingers through the day but not as long as other scents I have worn in the past. I wasn't sure if I would use this as my daily scent yet; after using it for a while now to write this review, I must say I will continue to use it. I'm a big fragrance collector and usually go with niche over designer since I like unique fragrances. With that said, that's why I only gave it 4 stars. Its a pretty good, safe but boring crowd-pleaser which that's what a designer is going to be majority of the time. To me this smells like YSL Y EdP. I had a co-worker tell me it smells like one from Carolina Herrera. On me this last pretty much all day from what I was told at work. I honestly went nose blind with in the hour. I thought it was weak but I received compliments as soon as I got to work and also again 7 hours later right after I walked into an office while he was 6ft away from me. I would get little hints of it through out the day. Now for the smell, like I stated above it's a generic fragrance. It opens up with like majority of mens fragrances with the bergamot note but this one has mixed fruits and pepper in the back. As the dry down starts I notice the saltiness of the sea notes pop out just a little. When it reached the drydown I was left with wood and leathery type of smell with the salt and a hint of the bergamot in the back. The last thing is the bottle. It's actually a great heavy bottle that just screams summer blue fragrance. I recommend it still for that fact that it's an extremely safe buy that you won't go wrong with the people around you.

Mont Blanc Explorer Ultra Blue hits a really interesting sweet spot in fragrances. The opening is youthful and energetic, but it dries down into a more adult experienced fragrance users scent. It strikes me as transitional. The opening is a translucent sea swept lemon with a reserved splash of bergamot. It feels "on the go." Maybe a bit uplifting. I DO NOT recommend keeping your bottles in the car, but if you had this in the dash on a beach trip for the week it would feel appropriate. Its got an energy to the opening that is spur of the moment. You pop into the car, spray it on everyone and drive. It's like one guy brought a bottle of cologne along, and suddenly its the communal bottle for the trip. If you have ever tried Armani's Acqua di Gio Profundo, but found it too heavy, this is a good reach. This is also where the change begins. As if something serious happened and matured one of the boys quickly into a man. He found a girl more than a fling, he got in a fight that humbled him, someone got arrested in the group. (Maybe I'm just walking through memories of my Spring Breaks...)Regardless it grows up. The dry down in the scent is much more adult that the opening would lead you to believe. Warm, a classy bit of beach woods and warmed patchouli. An unexpected part of growing up. Ultra Blue is a scent for a boy learning the lessons on becoming a man, both in life, and his signature scent. @thescenterofpeople on IG
This fragrance is made for a man with bold taste. Being an EDP this cologne starts with a strong kick, but as the day continues the wear doesn’t stay as strong as it should for an EDP. Although I do prefer the nice lingering sent it provided when worn for longer periods of time, it did not deliver on a stronger long wear. Personally this isn’t a sent I would particularly go for because it just isn’t my favorite, but objectively it smells good and I did receive several compliments while wearing it. My Dad ended up snatching the cologne from me so definitely it is some people’s cup of tea. I do really like the packaging though. The weight of the bottle and cap feel nice and luxurious. The blue leather is very vibrant and is a nice contrast against the glass for a clean and elegant look. All in all, this is a good product; however, I would only recommend it to the few and not the many, as it is not a fragrance that not everyone can pull off. (I did receive this free as apart of a campaign).
As the title of this review suggests, this fragrance was not one of my favorites. Don't get me wrong, it's a perfectly nice scent but it's boring. I guess that's my issue with it. It's very neutral, a safe and bring choice. If you're looking for an inoffensive cologne you can wear to the office or while running errands, look no further. But I prefer unique scents, scents that stand out and make you do a double take, the ones you walk past and feel compelled to ask the wearer what it is, where you can get it, and how much it costs. Unfortunately, this cologne fades into the background. You can find cheaper options that will give you the same scent profile, a lot of musk and a little bit of spice. I'm not sure if I have to put this here, but I will to be on the safe ... MoreAs the title of this review suggests, this fragrance was not one of my favorites. I’m someone whom doesn’t wear much cologne. When I do, it’s generally around the holidays or for special occasions. I’m not a fan of some brands, due to how they smell. I was eager to try MontBlanc Explorer Ultra Blue to find out how much I would like it overall. First off, I have to say, that the bottle is huge! It will take me quite some time to use this one bottle alone. It has a nice color variation with the blue glass bottle and silver accents. This is definitely a premium brand and it showcases that in the design. The glass makes it somewhat heavy, but very easy to use when applying. I didn’t experience any issues while spraying myself with the cologne. My hands were able to grasp it just right and my fingertips were free to direct the nozzle where I wanted to ... MoreI’m someone whom doesn’t wear much cologne. I didn’t experience any issues while spraying myself with the cologne. My hands were able to grasp it just right and my fingertips were free to direct the nozzle where I wanted to spray. The scent is appealing, but not overpowering. It doesn’t make you want to gag or cough uncontrollably after applying it. This version has a woodsy, outdoorsy scent that isn’t heavy. The scent tends to linger, but it’s not loud at all. You may even forget that you’re wearing it altogether. It doesn’t have a vulgar, strong smell that some colognes do. You’re able to spray several areas of your body and not feel like you doused yourself in it. The cologne is light and has the right combination of scents. I noticed when using the cologne, that the areas I sprayed it on, didn’t cause me to break out into rashes. Which sometimes happens with other brands I have tried and used. This was a huge bonus for me. If you deal with skin irritation when wearing colognes, this version is one that will likely work for you. Granted, it is a bit expensive, and I’m not one to generally spend too much on cologne. However, with its size, it’s likely to last for quite some time and makes it worth the splurge. MontBlanc Explorer Ultra Blue is a brand that I will definitely be using for a long time to come. I’m really glad I had the chance to try out this brand and highly recommend you try it for yourself.
Tis a shame, but have to tell it like it is. One of my favorite colognes, is this brands ultra male black legend eau de parfum. That one for the price range is a solid 4.5 out of five, as it’s got sophisticated notes and lasts a long time. I like designer houses trying different scents. Montblanc used to be known for pens, but the digital age probably, caused it to change its priorities. Their legend EDT helped them become an established fragrance, although some argue that’s a clone of A+F Fierce. I see why as some similarities, but they are cousins at least. It saddens me that the blue Ultra Blue is a total disaster. This disappointment was a surprise, as I figured at least it would be decent. Far from that, as I think the designer got “too cute.” It’s trying to ... MoreTis a shame, but have to tell it like it is. It saddens me that the blue Ultra Blue is a total disaster. This disappointment was a surprise, as I figured at least it would be decent. Far from that, as I think the designer got “too cute.” It’s trying to compete with its version of Polo Blue, and it is a poor man’s copy. The bottle itself is attractive, with the blue leather band, but that’s as far as it goes in quality control. The opening of bergamot, citrus, marine notes, and a little bit of wood is an immediate revulsion. All so synthetic that they make you scream that out. Imagine polo blue, admittedly a weak strength fragrance, and dilute it even more. That’s what you have here. There might be a hint of vanilla or pepper, but nothing substantial. It’s not a good combination, as it has a pencil shaving aroma to it. Also alcohol and a lack of vigor. After 15 minutes, no projection at all. With several sprays, it might be a disastrous skin scent for a couple hours. I actually hope Montblanc pulls this from their shelves and supplies. The reason is simple, as their legend and other colognes are solid masculine scents that really are invigorating. This lackluster is drugstore quality, yet they expect you to drop $95 for a bottle of this nonsense. That is unacceptable, and I shall never wear it again. If you want to stand out in a bad way, pour this cologne on with 15 sprays. Yes it does actually disappear that fast, as even Polo Blue is beast mode compared to this pathetic excuse for a cologne. Avoid it like the plague.
Over time with testing and using several different brands and lines of cologne, I have come to realize which fragrances I prefer and those I do not. After opening and testing Montblanc’s Explorer Ultra Blue, I concluded that it is personally not a stand alone, unique cologne, but rather a great staple to my spring/summer fragrance collection! I very much enjoy the citrus and woody aspects of the product, however I feel the overall scent is a bit too sweet for my preference. Although two sprays of cologne lasts all day, the structure of the scent changes quite immensely minutes after it’s application and boy do the marine notes come out! If you are looking for an aquatic, woody cologne this may be for you. To start out, the bottle is very nice. It is quite heavy and the leather is a very nice addition. The sprayer is very good and releases the perfect amount very directly (it reminds me of Dior cologne bottles). It is fairly inoffensive and easy to wear in any setting. In terms of scent, for me it was fairly straightforward and somewhat basic. On my skin, I got a heavy dose of ambroxan, marine, and mineral notes. The wood scent came out after the drydown and was prominent until the cologne faded. This was extremely strong for the first 5 minutes and made me a little nervous if I had sprayed too much. I could see it best worn in the summer around the office or even on a date. Overall, this cologne is very good, and I believe anyone would find it pleasent, if not basic.
