It performs well for Android but is not recommended for iPhone. I tried both. The app is available on iPhone, but the filter setting is not functional. The Filter is helpful most of the time. It's better than nothing but less good compared to a much better (more expensive) DAC. It's reasonable. Considering the price, it is still nice for beginners. If you plan something bigger, skip it. Other points, turn off the light and it won't be that warm anymore.

A good DAC with some Caveats

Previously all the DAC experience I had was with the Oneplus dongle, the VE abigail and Astell and Kern XB10. I thought the XB10 was the best of the bunch and also some "audio" channels suggested that a DAC only have more power and that's it and that it doesn't change how the earphone sounds. Well that is not true as my IEMs all sound significantly different but all are subjective qualities. The soundstage feels a bit bigger, music feels more effortless and livelier and the bass is also effortless and dare I say a bit detailed. The music overall sounds fuller if it makes any sense.I also like the build quality a lot but I would prefer some kind of protection on the perforations at the front, as these are supposed to be portable and I don't want to be worried about water damage.The 4.4 mm output is great, though I don't use it that much as they don't improve audio quality and is supposed to be a fail safe for harder to drive headphones but I am an IEM guy so there's that.Overall thumbs up from me.

Ok... Let me get this clear. This is the best money can buy below ₹5000. Maybe below ₹8000. It drives IEMs and less power hungry cans with ease. My HD620 jives in 30% volume while HD600 needs 75% volume to realise the potential. Sundaras also work great at maybe 60 - 65%. When I realise my FiiO Q15 is giving, maybe slightly better performance than this makes me rack my brain how so much power is handled by such a pea sized device. So, 10/10 for sound.What I am concerned though is its design. Not build. Only design. It has holes on the sides which might let in dust within the device and I don't know how capably sealed the circuits are. For my usage with wired 32-Ohm earbuds, The Dawn Pro is an excellent and affordable choice. For my BeyerDyne model-770/250-ohm over-ear headphones, well, not so much. I will share this: after ordering the Dawn Pro, I was informed the delivery time would be moved out because of product availability issues. About three weeks, so not bad. Meanwhile I dug a bit further into the Pro and decided it would not be powerful enough for the 770. Danni at Tech Support Apos told me I'd be pleasantly surprised at the Dawn Pro with my headphones. I was surprised, but not impressed. The Dawn Pro is so powerful I have to turn down the volume below half when using the ear buds. When using the headphones, 90% volume isn't enough volume. The Pro resurrected my old wired Sony buds (frequency response: 5~40k Hz @ 32Ohms). Excellent sound and volume (with room to spare, if you want to enjoy music into your latter years).I contemplated returning the Dawn Pro, but it's just too good with the Sony ear buds on my Samsung phone. Well, there it is. No, no 4.4mm adapter. Also, keep the ventilated side exposed, as the unit will run warm if you over that side.

Good amp

First time I'm using dac & amp. Ran it with nova, can feel lot of difference in listening sound.I was using sony's extra bass headset, Initially thought how this will make a difference in sounding. but there is lot in terms of imaging and soundstage.still needs to explore lot of sounds with this. especially while watching movies able to hear lots of sounds able to hear which was initially missed with other headphones.(tested with disney's animation like cars, zootopia etc. which was recorded with great perfection of sounds.)and now only feeling the engagement of sound. which is actually creating and environment inside our head which i never feel before.if there is a forest, this setup was able to fool/convince my brain that i was in that forest. sometimes it ... MoreFirst time I'm using dac & amp. Good quality DAC

The DAC is pretty compact and light weight, easy to carry into the pocket as well. The sound is quite neutral, though it leans a little towards being warmer without being too sibilant or shrill. It does not get hot even after hours of continuous playing, just feels a bit warm which is not bothersome. The built quality is good as it is a solid full metal body, but the vent holes are somewhat concerning and you need to be careful about it. Overall for this price, this is the best DAC.

Moondrop Dawn Pro

Was excited to receive the Moondrop Dawn Pro. I connected it to an old Samsung cell phone that I was using as my music player using the Hiby music app and the included cable supplied by the manufacturer. Played my music and immediately noticed dropouts. First thought was the dac/amp was not getting enough power from the phone but that was not the problem. Contacted Apos and someone suggested I should try another usb-c to usb-c cable. Purchased a new cable and for the most part the issue was resolved. Occasionally, the dropouts still occur. Not as frequent as with the included cable and not as long. Disappointed with quality of cable and dac/amp but I do enjoy the sound produced by the dac/amp. Decided to keep the dac/amp. The Best Budget Natural and Transparent Sounding DAC

I previously owned DACs of Burr Brown and ESS. But never had any Cirrus Logic, and once I started listening to it, I was astonished like hell! The sound has never been so natural before. If a song is recorded in good quality, you will hear it that good, if the recording quality is poor, then you will listen to it poor. There is no coloration or added flavor, just transmits the sound the way it is, and lets your headphones or IEMs decide. If you want something like this, Moondrop DAWN PRO is the best budget-friendly option. This is not power-hungry like FiiO DACSs, so it will not heat up severely, but a very little bit and that is normal. The build quality also seems to be quite good. The Midrange Dac/Amp King With A Strange Issue

This is the best portable Dac/Amp combo within 8000 INR price bracket. I pair it mainly with my Moondrop Blessing 2 with it's 4.4mm balanced connection. Sound is super clean and plenty of power for my power hungry Hifiman Sundara as well. No static noise whatsoever for low impeadence iems. But for some strange reason my Samsung Galaxy S23 doesn't detect it instantly. I have to unplug and plug it for 4-5 times then the indicator turns on. Same thing happens for my Apple 12 Mini but in this case it is detected in second time. No such issue has found for other smartphones like Realme GT2 Pro, Oneplus 9 Pro and PC as well. But my Moondrop Dawn Pro OG has no such issues whatsoever.
