Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream 250 ml

I kind of hate how much I ended up liking this product. I’ve been devoutly curly girl method for a few years now, and I actually can’t remember the last time I used heat on my hair. I’m pretty proud of myself, actually. Even stopped dying my hair! So, in the interest of living that low bar lifestyle, I also don’t want or need to wash my hair often, and my styling routine is kept to a minimum. Nothing complicated, no plopping, no clipping roots. Just a good gel and a good scrunch and a microfiber towel. Bam, done. So, enter this Moroccan Oil Curl Defining Cream. After I washed and conditioned, then upside-down detangled with a wide-toothed comb and denman brush, I first scrunched in a generous amount of cream. I honestly probably used too much—I think a smaller amount goes kind of a long way. Which is good, because the price tag isn’t exactly low. After a good scrunching, I sealed it in with Deva Curl gel. A lot of reviewers used the cream on its own, and I considered doing that, but I figured I would have the best results using both. And I believe I was correct. After scrunching out the excess water and product with my microfiber waffle towel, I could already tell that my hair was looking nicer than usual. My curls clumped juuust a little bit nicer, the waves just slightly more defined, less frizzy, and somehow more body, even though I air dried. It was a noticeably better-than-usual hair day. And I kinda hate it for a few reasons: (1) it’s not cheap; (2) I’m not jumping at adding an additional step to my low bar routine; (3) I don’t think this is actually a CGM-approved product; and (4) my sample sent for testing was just that—a sample—and I would have loved to have received a full size because I liked it so much! 😭😭💸

My hair is fine, dry and naturally curly and I do mean CURLY. I blow dry to ease the curls a bit as drying naturally leaves me with very tight coils. I received the Morrocanoil yesterday and used it, following the same wash condition regimen as always, and using the same amount of Morrocanoil as I would of OGX. I have tried some of the other Moroccanoil products in the past but this is my personal favorite I’ve tried so far. My first time testing this product, I applied it by itself after my usual wash and go. After letting my hair air dry, I noticed my curls had great definition and I was immediately excited. Although this product is great for defining your curls, I had to give it 4 stars as I found it was lacking in the hold department and it did not do much to combat additional frizz. I love when leave-in products put a slight cast over your curls, as I find that helps tremendously for day 2 and day 3 curls. If you prefer a little more hold like me, I would strongly recommend following this up with a styling gel-type of product. I have gotten so many compliments on days I work this product into my routine. While this curl defining cream is not quite a holy grail leave-in that will replace all of your other products, it is a wonderful addition to your curly hair routine.

Great defining product for 2C/3A curls

I love trying out new curly hair products and sometimes it takes some trial and error to get the right amount or application technique, but I was so happy with the results with this curl defining cream from the first use. This is definitely one of the best curl defining cream products I have ever used and I have consistently had good results with it. For reference I have fine textured 2C/3A curl pattern hair and I like products that enhance the definition without weighing down my hair too much & sacrificing volume, which I feel this product did well. I appreciate that this product is formulated without sulfates, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, etc. as many of these ingredients are ones that I try to avoid for my curls. I also appreciate that this product comes in recyclable packaging. The price point of this product is higher than I usually pay for similar products but because a little goes a long way and my results were good, I would consider spending this amount on it. I will continue to use and would recommend to others.

Great for thick 2a/2b hair!

Got a sample of this with an order and bought a bottle right away! I have very thick long 2a/2b hair and thick product never weighs down my hair or makes it greasy. This product is thick so maybe too much for thin hair unless you use a very small amount. I used a decent amount and it really defined my curls well and tamped down all of the frizz. It's lasted for a couple of days without losing definition or getting frizzy. I deducted one star for the smell, it has a very "chemical hair product" sort of smell, not pleasant but to me it isn't noticeable once the hair dries. I also used olaplex no 5 and 6 before applying this and then use a dry hair oil every day on top of it. Okay in a pinch

Received this as a free sample from Influenster. The sample size was a bit too small for me to get a full idea of how this product works for my hair specifically as I usually need a few weeks of use to make a fair judgement, but from a limited perspective, my takeaways are as follows:Smell- amazing, the standard MoroccanOil smellTexture- I prefer styling creams and used this in place of my current one and I did notice that this left a bit of a shell to my hair after use. If I had enough to try again, I may use a bit less product next time, though I didn’t use much. Seems pretty concentrated. If I had received a full bottle, I do think I’d continue to use it until it ran out but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this item. Overpowering smell that left hair stiff and sticky

I do not like this product. I have fine to medium curly hair. The smell is very overpowering reminiscent of a dry shampoo. I could smell my hair all day to the point I finally had to wash it to get rid of the smell. I followed the instructions and used a generous amount of the product. I can't say that my curl looked any different but It definitely gave my hair volume however it left it very sticky and stiff. I couldn't run my fingers through it at all especially at the root. When I tried to pull it up and used my hands to gather my hair it left a film on my hands. I will return this product as it is not for me or my hair.

Still getting used to it for my curly hair

This product smells great, just like other Moroccanoil products. It is rather thick without much slip. I honestly wish it had more slip, like other curl cream products I've used. My hair didn't look its best the days I've used it, but possibly it was more my fault and user error. It has also been extremely humid on the island I live on in the tropics, so possibly no product would keep my frizz at bay under these extreme circumstances. If I find this product is amazing, I will write a new review or update this one if possible and change it to 5 stars. I do find I need to add some moisture (water) to my hands when applying this or it just a bit too sticky and thick.

Too pricey but works!!

This product works! The only thing is that there are other products on the market for curl defining that are very similar for way less and that’s why I took off a whole star. As of now, I’ve stuck with Cantu’s curl defining cream so I can compare it to that. Unlike Cantu’s, this cream is super lightweight! Doesn’t feel heavy or greasy but still gets the job done. I got this as a sample from Influenster and it only lasted one use on my long curly hair but that’s ok. The results were enough to know this is good. My curls were super shiny and they were defined. I put mousse over it and it did a wonderful job of keeping my curls frizz free. The smell alone was amazing. I would only get this when I want to splurge.
