I upgraded from an earlier model as I wanted a phone with NFC for contactless payments. The phone was easy to set up and transfer data from my old phone. The camera is good, the only real weakness being photos taken in low light but you can't expect an iPhone for this price. All the apps that I use perform well and I'd recommend this phone if you are looking for an Android smartphone but you don't want to spend a lot.

Spend loads more on some other phone and you won't get better functionality than with this one.You can take photos using the rear and front camera simultaneously with picture in picture result. A slightly slimmer design means it will go in a case and inside an inside jacket pocket - both safe and convenient.

As we should remember, Motorola invented the two-way radio communication equipment and followed by the cellphones for others to copy from. Only had this for a week, and seems to performing as it should. It's not a 'high end' phone regarding some 'specs', and the camera, but it does what I need it to. I don't use social media or gaming apps, just use it for the basics, and it's good. Has some useful features too. I chose this also, for the larger internal memory. I usually go for Sony phones, but decided I didn't want to spend a huge amount on a new phone this time. So for the money, I'm really pleased with this up to now.
..only takes poor quality photos.My older phone was failing, and I needed an urgent backup for boarding passes and camino maps, and this served pretty well. It saved carrying a power pack in my backpack. But the pohto image quality is pretty dire and I gave up on using the camera. The camera would be just about OK for recording accident aftermaths - but that's all.The torch keeps tripping on too - but that might be an Android/Motorola thing I need to learn to disable.If you want a cheap, basic, smart phone for talking and finding out stuff on the net this serves decently well.
I love the Motorola Moto G53 phone I bought recently. To say I like it is an understatement. I love the lightweight compared to phones of same size and shape from other brands. I love the long lasting battery live. I love the speed of operation. It's a good value for the money. I also love the fast delivery. For the moment, I have no bad report about the phone.
Screen is paper thin. Cracked when it slid out of the box to put the sim card inside at a height of no more than 1.5". John Lewis refused to replace it in their Oxford Street store as it was classed as accidental damage instead of an individual unit fault. Replaced the screen with an original (v hard to find for Motorolas). Two days and a case later I put it in my pocket and when I pulled it out a couple of hours later the screen was smashed in two places. I have a physical job but it was never dropped or hit with force.I have loved Motorola for many years and the camera is better but am spending the equivalent of a much more expensive phone. Nearly tech illiterate, practically a Luddite. Only second phone. Love it. Great value. Wish battery was deeper and displayed % rather than pseudo hourglass icon*None of my tech dependent friends have been able to figure out how to permit camera function. I cannot phone for Geek assist... nearly deaf. Too blind to drive but will visit store when I hitch a ride.

No security update for last 5 months.Went back to jb hi fi and they said they cannot exchange for a higher model because Motorola wants a proof of defect. They asked me to call Motorola for the issue and get a RA number for the device to be returned. Called Motorola and they say phone is working and cannot be returned.I bought this phone for company software, company has strict policy of latest security update on the phone. This phone is not compliant for security and hence useless
