I've had this phone 4 months and it's already broken. The touch screen either won't work or presses random things on it's own, so it's now unusable. I haven't dropped it or damaged the screen. I'm 38 so not attached to my phone all the time, it's not over used. I only use it for calls and texts. WhatsApp worked sporadically at best from the off and YouTube music barely worked either. Data signal is awful. I wish I'd shelled out and got a more expensive one. Half the price means half the quality in this case. Don't waste your money. Very won't let me return it now either so I'm stuck paying for something that doesn't work.

Phone comes with a good case to match the colour (Sage Green) and a fast charger (unusual these days) plus a quick start guide. Very easy to set up. Razr 40 build quality is excellent. This phone was bought to test the screen because like many other people I was concerned about durability and I didn't want to waste money on the ultra if it was going to have problems.The colour I purchased is the Vanilla which looks really nice and is a good colour for the summer. The body of the phone is so called vegan leather.... Plastic to normal people and definitely not made out of skinned vegans or carrots. It is warm and grippy in the hand, certainly not slippery like the ceramic on my mi 11 ultra. They are too small to put state of the art cameras and cooling systems inside at this point in there evolution and as such you shouldn't be expecting top class flagship performance whether you buy the standard RAZR 40 or the Ultra version, but even with this basic model I have been surprised by the speed of the phone with no lag so far. The quality of the photos does need some further testing on my part because I only collected the phone yesterday, but they are good quality for the flip form factor which has always had lower quality cameras and sensors than equivalent candy bar phones.Initial tests have shown plenty of detail and pretty good photos if a little dark. I am not comparing the photos to my other phone because the mi 11 ultra is still one of the best camera phones even though it is two years old now and the sensors in the RAZR are much smaller. I haven't taken any lowlight or night photos, so I will reserve judgement.I have seen people raving about the external screen of the RAZR 40 ultra and how it seems to cut down the amount of time that people spend on their phones because they are not seeing all the social media feeds etc that they get when they open the main screen and one review online mentions somebody at Motorola asking why you would buy a flip phone if you are always using the main screen, why not buy a candy bar?I am not sure that the question really understands the appeal of flip phones. They are not about power and photographic prowess, but rather style and compact convenience. I have recently been juggling my big phone and on hot days without a coat it is certainly a pain to carry around. The RAZR is light, thin and compact with a full smartphone experience that allows you to do everything you need to when you are busy shopping or on a night out. In the golden days of flip phones you could only make calls and send basic texts with any internet connection being mind numbingly slow, but you still had to open them to do those things and candy bars were also around then. Many people chose the phones because they looked good and were easy.to carry around, whilst doing what you needed them to do. Then there is the satisfaction of just closing the phone to end a call with a satisfying snap. They are just fun to use.The first RAZR of the smartphone era tried to appeal to nostalgia but the price was so high that most people wouldn't even consider a phone of any type with such low level specs, so no level of nostalgia could sell many of the phones. I do feel that these latest models are at a price point that addresses these concerns and nostalgia can certainly factor into the buying decision.The downside to modern flips would have to include the screen crease which I barely notice on the Motorola and it is certainly much less than the flip 4. The constant opening and closing may be an issue in the future, but only time will tell. Earlier flips have had issues with dust ingress and screen damage, but this phone has a new hinge which certainly appears to keep the screen tight and it eliminates the screen gap present on other flips.The screen does have a tall aspect ratio which could be a problem for one handed use if you have small hands, but it is fast and responsive with good brightness and is actually really good. The screen is the same as on the Ultra model just with a slightly lower refresh rate at 144hz which is scarcely noticeable and you will only achieve that in gaming mode. It will normally be up to 120hz which is still very smooth.Charging speed is only 30w but battery life is pretty good with a larger battery on the basic RAZR 40 than the Ultra and you should get more than a days use out of it. Although the battery is larger and the chipset less powerful than the Ultra, I cannot say how much longer a.charge will last because people with the Ultra will undoubtedly use the outer screen for some things and that should reduce battery drain on the Ultra.If you are looking for a stylish and compact phone that you can easily slip into your pocket or bag, use for basic photo's that you can post to social media and you don't want to play ghenshin impact at max frame rate all day long, then I would certainly recommend this phone. If you want the outer screen and the glass back or viva magenta colour with better CPU and graphics, then the Ultra looks to be the better choice.I now find myself wanting to try the Ultra and perhaps I shall buy one, or maybe wait until the next generation comes out, but for now I am happy to see how much I use the RAZR over the mi 11 and see how the hinge/screen hold up over time. I suddenly find myself.envious of those reviewers that get free samples to test without having to worry about longevity of the screen.

There's also minimal changes to Android, with the few there from Motorola being actually useful.Long term durability is still to be determined, but the included case is welcome and the hinge definitely feels very well built. Brought this about 3 weeks ago, and up to now it has been perfect.It fits in my bag and pocket easily without falling out.I like that a lot of the apps are google and not full of samsung apps which I so not use and can not get rid of.The crease is no noticeable when opened and the screen is quite big when opened.I will update when I have had the phone longer to see if the crease is more noticeable after time.I am very happy with the phone and the price that I paid especially as it had £200.00 off at the time of purchase.
Great looking phone, but cover makes it look worse. I'm still wary of the folding screen and took a year cover plan with it. Great UI and lots of customisation available. 256 GB storage and ram booster make this a very fast phone. 144hz screen and a small back screen my wife loves. Overall a really good phone, I just hope the screen is durable enough to last a decent time. Cost £500, but is £855 in Freeman's catalogue. Crazy variation, but Very prices are more than reasonable. Great service

This has much less noticeable crease, better looking screen, better feeling materials, better speakers, and it was 40% cheaper at purchase. It’s already shown better durability than the phone it replaced. Less software bloat. Yes it has its own moto software but it adds a function not just duplicates everything like with Samsungs bloat where u have android photos and gallery, play store n ssung store, android pass manager n Ssung manager, constantly fighting for attention n wanting a second account n sign in looking messy with 2 different styles of icons etc. razr software just looks n feels much cleaner. I love this phone so happy with my purchase. It is heavier than I thought it would be but once opened it balances in my hand well and feels comfortable. I am elderly and have arthritis in my hands and this has to be taken into account if reading this. The service from John Lewis was excellent the phone arrived in good time and all the paperwork to do with the purchase was available without asking. (I needed this to claim the free bose earbuds offered from Motorola). I have not yet received the earbuds but I do not think they are due for another few days. Motorola were efficient in dealing with the early part of my claim so fingers crossed :)
My last phone was also a Motorola G50 5G.....and I have loved it but it got a filled-up memory and slowed down so much it rendered itself unusable, sadly. Thought I'd stick with them, get something with WAY more memory and chose this Razr. Having the smaller secondary display I think is better as they're really only there for a quick glance and a whole half of glass would be permanently full of marks !! I like to set the phone to connect calls as I open it but unfortunately I don't get to see who's calling on that little screen so may need to alter this. Unless I have a separate ringtone for a caller I don't know who it is as it says "contents hidden". That was highly irritating on the G50.The NFC sensor is in a dumb place on the back. It has meant I can't put on a thick cover in order to protect it better because your cards won't work and neither will wireless charging. The hard case that came with it and all you can seem to get online is fine BUT not in the least "grippy" so it feels like you're going to drop it. Other phones I've bought come with the bendy silicone clear cases. But I can't find one of those for love nor money which is a nuisance.The battery lasts nowhere near as long as the G50 one. However, I bought a smartwatch at the same time and that seems to use a lot so that may be why.The screen is narrower but pretty tall and is clear. Sound is good, clear colours, speed terrific. Photos fine though I think the old phone did a better job than what I've caught so far. In fairness I haven't taken too many so don't take that to heart too much !!The fingerprint is on the side on the power button on this model. The G50 was on the back and I prefer it on the back. It still always works first time but I suppose it's what you get used to is all.Now, the screen protector issue. It comes with one prefitted and I ordered 3 spares (as you do) only to read that if you put another one on or replace the prefitted one you're going to invalidate the guarantee. I've never seen this before and in the past I have chipped or cracked screen protectors. So I don't quite know what's going to happen if and when this happens to the Razr. I have done a bit of research and people have tried with differing results, not always good. It doesn't sound like you should EVER try prising off the one on there so be careful !! I HAVE also bought protectors for the little screen and I have stuck one of those on because otherwise it would get ruined-it touches whatever you put it on when you lay the phone down opened.It's a lovely-looking little bit of kit-I bought the girly purple one as my last was a green. The fold-up is really handy, I have to say. Took a bit of getting used to, though.All in all, I'm happy with it but I did really like my G50, too, and I didn't have the niggles with the G50 I have with this, like the screen protector or NFC sensor position and lack of grippy cases.This version is WAY cheaper than the Ultra version and I really don't see what is to be gained from buying that version and not this one.
