This unit offers me two things I was looking for in a reasonably affordable audio interface: XLR inputs on the BACK, and at least 4 inputs. I don't understand why most interfaces out there put the input connectors on the front, but this unit matches my requirements perfectly.

great clean sound, lots of I/O, very good interface. I would not buy this for the included software however. If you like to create music with loops you may find it useful. As a Cubase user Performer lite seems quite primitive.

I have exhaustively tried out most portable USB audio interfaces. As a studio engineer with over 20 years experience this is the one I would recommend. It offers no frills, no retro vintage sound gimmicks. Just excellent low latency and high quality sound. I have found sound output on most audio interfaces under the £1000 category to be very coloured and sometimes bass heavy. This is not the case with the Motu M series. They offer a fantastic flat uncoloured sound output. The channel preamps offer an excellent clear signal. Powerful enough to power 4 Shure SM7b microphones.
