I've been blown away by the MSI MAG 271QPX compared to my old IPS monitor. i didn't expect the difference, The image quality is just superb, HDR colors are top notch and vivid, with high contrast and smooth visuals for gaming and movies. It also performs better for office tasks, addressing subpixel issues found in earlier OLED monitors i had personally seen, it overall just makes text easier to read. The packaging is simple but effective, The design and build quality are solid at the very least. Feels better than my previous LG model. The OSD menus are easy to navigate, with useful features like VRR and pixel refresh. The monitor is also supported by MSI with firmware updates.Overall, i would highly recommend especially with the current price sub £600.00 it's ... MoreI've been blown away by the MSI MAG 271QPX compared to my old IPS monitor. i didn't expect the difference, The image quality is just superb, HDR colors are top notch and vivid, with high contrast and smooth visuals for gaming and movies. I desperately needed a new monitor after I gave away my old one to my partner. The decision making process was tough as there were a lot of great options to choose from. However, the MAG 271 offered an amazing price to performance that I couldn't ignore. Having bought MSI before, I was expecting high quality and I am not disappointed. The monitor came in pristine condition, with impressive padding and covers. When unboxed, it fits perfectly onto my desk. Having the ability to rotate the screen in such a way, also allows for greater flexibility in use. The power button took some time to find, initially thinking the menu control button was the one, but it makes more sense where it is. As for screen quality, money's worth and then some.Highly recommend that you ...Ā MoreI desperately needed a new monitor after I gave away my old one to my partner. Coming from a 1080p monitor.. this thing has changed something within me. After receiving it in perfect condition, setting it up on an arm, straight away I could see a game changing difference. Without tweaking any of the settings the color and motion clarity is unlike anything I have ever seen. From everything that I have tested it on, gaming, random videos, movies, etc. It's almost as if the image is tangible. My expectations have been blown away. I find it very difficult to find a complaint with it so far. With it's current great price and fantastic motion clarity/color, I find it hard to beat. If a great easy to set up 1440p monitor, with great color, great motion clarity is what you are after, this is the one! I was introduced to Oled when i bought my Oled LG C1 as my TV and never wanted to go back to LCD panels. I upgraded my Samsung G40A IPS panel for this MSI quantum dot Oled monitor and i dont have any regrets. Even more color than WOled from LG panels. If you want to know if it works on Linux the photo gives you the answer. I dont use Windows anymore so thats what you are seeing in the photo. But should be good for Windows users too. I have it in peak 1000 nits mode and everything is extremely bright. Oh and just letting you know so far no visible autobrightness or visual issues like VRR flickering. I think this monitor came out with better stock firmware than other models because i dont see the issues with the other MSI monitors that ive heard about. I would ignore that two star review that someone left before the product could even physically ship out as it just came in stock 24 hours ago.OLED monitors are one of the most pleasurable experiences I've had. I own an LG C8 TV and have used it for years running Twitch streams and games with no issues or image retention.I've always been a fan of clarity and backlight strobing growing up with a BenQ monitor my entire life I do enjoy this OLED panel a lot. I've used the 2k 360hz Asus with ULMB but couldn't stand bleeding of IPS and poor contrast.I tried out the 540hz Asus panel as well which is brighter than the IPS with ULMB on but once you go to 2k it becomes very hard to transition back to 1080p.As far as motion clarity obviously panels with ULMB or Dyac ...Ā MoreI would ignore that two star review that someone left before the product could even physically ship out as it just came in stock 24 hours ago.OLED monitors are one of the most pleasurable experiences I've had. I've found in my older age I can react better with an OLED panel due to the resolution and contrast VS backlight strobing.Everything is enjoyable on this monitor even just looking at images or videos on webpages. There are tons of videos on OLED monitors if you want some in depth reviews. I would buy this and use it for a few years or wait for the 480hz Asus / LG which will have some form of black-frame insertion for further motion clarity. I wouldn't worry about image retention either I've used the 240hz LG OLED for a year and play Overwatch on it for 8+ hours daily no issues.
The MAG271QPX-E2 is of great value because of what it gives. Visually, the display is gorgeous; the OLED display does its job and delivers a stunning image. Compared to most other OLED monitors, it loses 120hz and some USB ports, but what it gives is fully fledged HDMI 2.1 ports and the same display that is present in all other QD-OLEDS. Another quite helpful feature, and the reason that I chose to get it, is the ability to disable DSC. Visually, there isn't much of a difference. However, DSC disables the usage of DLSDR/DSR in Nvidia GPUs, which is extremely useful if you plan on playing older games that run well. If you aren't looking for the highest-end monitor and want one that gives you the best bang for buck, I can wholeheartedly recommend this monitor.
I have played video games and watched movies on numerous monitors for the past 15 years, transitioning from HD to full-HD, to 1440p HDR over the years. However none of my transitions were as drastic and jaw dropping as this.Playing video games on this monito feels like a completely different experience... especially video games with dark scenes and bright colors.I feel like I haven't truly appreciated the graphics behind video games until I played them on this monitor! Black Ops 6 Zombies in particular is stunning on this monitor.Overall, I cannot recommend this monitor enough, for this price range it is unbeatable! The 3 year OLED display burn-in warranty is also a huge plus for anyone worried about burn in risk. This Monitor will not disappoint!
This monitor blew me away. For context, I am a collegiate esports player (Specifically Overwatch 2) so I was mostly interested by the high refresh rate and low response time that OLED offers. I also enjoy single player games like Cyberpunk, RDR2, Ready or Not, etc. In terms of refresh rate, yea its very fast and noticeably better than 240hz. I know a lot of people say that its hard to notice the jump from 240 to 360, but if you play fast paced games at a high level, you will most likely notice. The colors on this monitor also blew me away. They are a bit saturated out of the box, but there are adequate color settings in the OSD to fit to your liking. HDR looks amazing as expected and for some reason, this panel also looks significantly more detailed compared to my previous 240hz 1440p IPS panel. That may have something to do with the OLED technology. Overall, it is a joy to play games on this regardless of the genre. One thing to note is that this is the MAG variant and it will not be receiving any firmware update support. If this is something that bothers you, I would recommend spending $50 more for the MPG variant. They both use the same panel but that one will receive firmware updates. I dont understand why MSI did this and dont agree with it but, hey, what can ya do. I would recommend this to anyone who is currently on the fence, as the panel is breathtaking.
Pros:Impressive Display Quality: The glossy OLED screen delivers stunning visuals that are a significant step up in terms of color and detail.Text Clarity: Despite what others have said, I find the text on this monitor to be extremely clear, making it one of the best for visual clarity that I've encountered.Cons:Lack of Firmware Updates: MSI claims that this monitor doesn't require firmware updates, which I find unusual and potentially limiting for future functionality.Screen Flickering: There is noticeable flickering when alt-tabbing from games, which takes about 10 seconds to resolve.Intrusive Burn-In Prevention: The monitor's burn-in prevention feature, which includes a mandatory "panel protect" pop-up every 4 hours, can be very disruptive. It shuts off the monitor to perform screen cleaning, which is frustrating during uninterrupted gaming sessions.High Price: Priced between $700-799, this monitor feels overpriced given the issues I've encountered.Performance Issues During Overclocking: When troubleshooting overclock settings on my computer, the monitor occasionally lags and requires a restart to recognize inputs from my PC.For competitive gamers, I recommend considering the BenQ 240Hz monitor with DyAc+ technology over this MSI model. The BenQ monitor provides a clearer and more stable gaming experience, especially for competitive gaming. The DyAc+ technology significantly enhances clarity during rapid movements from my experience. Considering this monitor is in the price range of 700-800 if you spend an extra 200 you could get the 540Hz variant of the flagship BenQ gaming monitor. For what it's trying to be I don't think this monitor has a sturdy place especially in the competitive gaming space. Beautiful screen though. Returning this monitor in anticipation of better monitors in the future.
Ive had this monitor for a bit now putting in some heavy use mostly on Counter-Strike 2. This monitor is fantastic for competitive fps due to the OLED panel the responsiveness feels almost life like its really hard to describe. This monitor is a night and day difference coming from a samsung odyssey g7 (1440p 240hz VA). Something I would like to add is that before getting the monitor I was looking everywhere for the nits and everything said ā400 nits true blackā they also have a 1000 nits mode which I could not find easily which is why I mention it. As a Counter-Strike 2 player I sit REALLY close to my monitor and on the 1000 nit hdr setting I can physically feel the water in my eyes warm up and the monitor gives off quite a bit of heat off the panel. I also would like to mention how good the glossy panel looks Iāve had my jaw drop several times from colors that this can put out. So the drawbacks I can think of which is factored into the rating I gave (5*) - The monitor gets warm especially in the hdr1000 mode, other people mention the lack of updates which I donāt think warrants knocking a point YET as software updates while would be nice for adding new features and fixing issues I havenāt come across any. Another issue is Vesa mounting I looked up on reddit and some people say they got some spacers so they can vesa mount mine either did not have these or I could not find them so YMMV. I ended up having to use longer screws in order to vesa mount as the ones that came with the monitor were not long enough. I do not know the measurements of the screws I used as I just had them on hand. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this or if possible I will update my review. Will knock one star on value (due to the mpg model being $50 with software updates) and knock another star until further notice for ease of use due to potential vesa mounting issues.
