This laptop is an excellent, well-rounded rig for productivity and desktop use. The battery is only 39 Whr but with the proper tuning can still last a decent amount of time. It comes with 8 GB of RAM but has two SODIMM slots which means the RAM can be replaced with any two SODIMM RAM cards of your choice (A huge bonus that its not soldered in). The i7-1197G7 processor in this laptop is awesome and it runs cool thanks to the stellar cooling solution. Ive been using this laptop for a few days now after installing Arch Linux and have had no issues so far.

I used to use an ASUS ROG Zephyrus as my main laptop for school and gaming. With the overheating issues and long gaming sessions, I knew I had to purchase a new device since the Zephyrus was starting to slow down too much. This laptop is amazing for school or work and completing simple tasks. In addition, I'm almost certain that the RAM is upgradable which is always a plus. I have done some light gaming on this (LoL plus a few indie games) and it doesn't feel bad at all.

Was looking for a medium spec laptop at a reasonable cost and this ticked both boxes quite easily. Better spec than I was expecting for the price. Nice build quality and fast enough for regular daily college use. Also fine for lightweight gaming and even Visual Studio and Unity development if anyone wants to do that.

This laptop is great, I got it because I wanted something small and light that also has a dedicated graphics card. It’s the cheapest 14” 1080p laptop I could find that has a dedicated GPU, a decent CPU, and 8GB of RAM. In addition, it has a 500gb ssd and a good WiFi card. The chassis is not as rigid as a Dell XPS or a MacBook but it’s good enough for me, it’s made out of aluminum panels which are sturdy enough and also lightweight. The keyboard is not as good as a ThinkPad but it’s good enough. The trackpad is a bit too small for me but it’s pretty accurate and Windows gestures work smoothly. So far, I’ve used this laptop for work and I usually have Firefox, office apps, and a Remote Desktop going at the same time and the RAM is plenty and the cpu is fast. For gaming I’ve been playing Civ VI on medium graphic settings at 1080p and it work great. I might update this review as I use the laptop more and test more games.
Pros: Great looking screen, performs well enough for all music production and video editing. The second SODIMM slot for upgrading the RAM is very helpfulCons: initially came with only 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, which is less than my 6 year old laptop came with for the same price
Pros: Screen looks great, works very well. Charging cable shorter than anticipated and the cable casing has already broken in one place despite being very well looked after.Cons: Longer, stronger charging cable.Potential to buy a see through keyboard cover and case/cover for the back of the laptop would be good to help keep it clean and well looked after. Ventilation sometimes struggles too.
Would I recommend this product? For the most part, yes. I think this is a pretty fair price for hardware/performance. The price may be a factor, but I don't think it's that bad. This is a solid mid-range laptop. Anyone needing basic browsing, email, etc, this is not the most cost-effective choice for a laptop. Would I purchase this again? Knowing what I know now...yes. Any changes I would like to see are listed in the Cons section. I'll admit, they are mostly minor flaws, and can easily be overlooked. Note: In my uploaded photo, the dollar bill is added for scale.
Purchased for over 600.00 for Christmas. Barely had time to use it, so it was kept in box for months. No downloads, no additional programs, did not even complete the windows 11 upgrade.Fast forward to this month. Finally have time to sit down and use the laptop. Keep it lifted up for air flow and watched some youtube for a few nights before bed. Turn it off and pass out. Yes, actually off. All in all about 2 weeks of very light use. Maybe an hour or two hours max, at a time. No, not heavy use, while I try to imply light. Literally light, 'why did I need a laptop?' kind of use.Mind you, I purchased this for writing projects and did not even get to do that. Because low and behold, I power it down, plugged in and charging, go to the living room for a few hours, come back and the system is hot! Yes, still lifted up for air flow, as this is one 'thin' laptop, so you better lift it up.Absolutely will not power on again! Ran through various fixes and still no deal. Will not power on and apparently burned out while charging for a few hours. Not seven or even six hours... a few small hours! While technically powered down, other than plugged in to charge.Worst part is, it was not even dvd burn out heat or playing a game. This has no hard disc drive for dvd's or anything. When purchasing, I kind of missed the fact it did not have a dvd drive or never would have made the buy, in the first place.Throw in that the warranty through Bestbuy was something insane, like thirty days? Now I have to contact MSI support and jump through hoops. Do not purchase this laptop. Absolute cheap and dangerous to leave unattended in another room and not backed for proper testing time through best buy.
Pros: Metal construction is great, very light and well built. Keyboard is nice and responsive with a good sounds. The backlight is a nice touch. When it opens the lid becomes the back feet, raising the keyboard to a slight angle and opening up the ventilation on the bottom, a cool design.Processor wise its pretty good, graphics are integrated and not that powerful so don't expect to be playing anything too recent. Will play FM2012 and XCOM fine though, so just have to embrace the retro games!Great value for money, I would have been happy if I had paid at least £100 more.Almost no bloatware, there was a virus protection that I quickly got rid of and there is one MSI program but other than that very clean Windows install.Cons: Battery life is not great, not terrible ... MorePros: Metal construction is great, very light and well built. Has a slight issue with the graphics drivers not updating, fixed by going direct to Intel's website.Speakers are nothing to write home about but they do the job for standard things. In 2022 it would be great to see a little more RAM as standard, 8GB is getting left behind a little even with standard tasks like web browsing if you have a lot of tabs open. It is apparently upgradable though although its not enough of a problem for me to want to do that yet.
Pros: Lap too was great before Windows 11 updateCons: Should have come with Windows 11 updated, having put it on it takes 3-4 minutes for the setting screens to load. Hassle I don't need with a brand new laptop. Had to downgrade back to 10 for now.
