Needed a new laptop for my son after the previous one unfortunately had the magic white smoke escape, so was going to get the usual mid-range one that will do the basics well but isn't great for gaming, but then saw this. Smooth 144 Hz full-HD screen powered by an RTX2050 means it eats most games we have tried (if you haven't seen 144 Hz in person, it's worth trying out). Being designed to be tougher means I'm less worried about use at school. Only possible downsides are pretty average battery life and only 8GB of RAM, but everything else is great. For the price (we got it on special), it's amazing.

So far no problems, Happy with the purchase, Was on the hunt for a new machine did a quick research, and picked this one out, Bit of an MSI fan so was not really looking at the other brands so much. The storage is the disappointing part of the Machine it comes with M.2 SSD slot 512 already installed, and the second is1x 2.5" SATA HDD - which is going backward compared to the SSD options today. I have had some say you can install a 2.5" SSD - and some say you cannot because the connections are different. So now I'm trying to decide on whether I re-install everything again with a larger M.2 for storage or try something in the 2.5" bay.Its the cost of paying someone to transfer my data from 512gb into a 1tb or 2tb on top of the price of buying the extra 1tb or 2tb ... Bought it for 8290kr on sale. A very good processor and graphics card for this price was very worth it. It also comes with 120W charging brick. However it only has single RAM module which means it runs on single channel mode which will have decreased performance so I highly recommend upgrading to dual-channel. I also recommend installing a fresh install of Windows 11 (Home), since there are a lot of bloatware running in the background which fills up a lot of memory.
I’ve had the pleasure of using this laptop for the last two years, and I can say that it is still in tiptop shape. Now the only thing that I don’t like the fact that the battery life sucks it is horrible so you definitely want to keep it in a cooler environment when you’re playing it because that battery life will drop really fast. Now other than that you will have the time of your life I currently do not own a gaming console, but I have been able to play some of the games for both my Xbox and my PlayStation days to steam. Yes, you are definitely able to play some hard-core games on this like Elden ring GTA five Spider-Man I did download Warzone but it’s froze on me so I didn’t play anymore but other than that GTA has a very large file Spider-Man not too much Elden ... Yes, you are definitely able to play some hard-core games on this like Elden ring GTA five Spider-Man I did download Warzone but it’s froze on me so I didn’t play anymore but other than that GTA has a very large file Spider-Man not too much Elden ring up there. Gears of war definitely up there, but I can definitely hold its own. Outside of that I haven’t really had any problems. My laptop still works perfectly as if it was brand new hardly any finger print on my overall computer by the performance has never stop. One thing I like about it is the fact that whenever you play it at least for me whenever I’m on it I get lost I’ll be on the alpha let’s say 1 to 2 hours and it will end up turning into like 10 or 12 hours because I’m just on it. Overall this laptop is definitely worth a buy. If the battery life is better, it would be tremendously overpowered, but as I said, keep it in a cool condition area don’t let it overheat. Last thing I would definitely want to say is with the gaming sometimes when you try to play a game to steam people update your games so when you’re playing on the laptop, if you click into the GeForce icon because there is an icon that is on that within the laptop anytime they update the graphics card you can manually upgrade it and keep your graphics card up-to-date without having to buy a new one that allows you to still play games and things like that I feel that is 100% one of the best features because that saves a lot of time and a lot of money and you can still play your games because like I said, if you’re playing games through the steam account like I do those games on steam are updated usually every week so to keep playing with them and to keep everything updated within your laptop you have to keep upgrading your graphics card and every time there’s a new feature that’s downloadable you can download it for free, and then your golden
So far this is a good little laptop. It is super sleek & very fast compared to my old one. The only downside I have (& others may not need this feature) is that it doesn’t have a separate keypad on the right side. I didn’t realize that until I opened the box & took it out. For now I’m struggling to use the number row (lol) but will invest in an external keypad. Otherwise, it seems to be a good investment (only had it a week so haven’t tried out all the specs yet).
Purchased this machine for my youngest daughter heading into high school, on the advise of my oldest daughter, who has had an earlier machine, same. My older daughter used it through high school, & university, plus uses it for gaming. My oldest daughters machine is 9 years old. Younger daughter is very happy with the machines performance.Must also say PC Case Gear have been fantastic with the purchase & delivery over Xmas.
I love this MSI laptop so far. Great price for what you get. It has the power I need to create with AI efficiently at an affordable price compared to other gaming laptop options I researched. The materials used feel solid and high quality -- from the case to the keyboard. It's lighter than I anticipated. So far, I am very happy. It uses lots of power so I'm running it on A/C when I'm using it.
So for a laptop, it's great specs. BUT there's so much in such a small unit, and not enough cooling power. Running something simple like the Sims 4 on medium graphics, capped fps at 60, used in a well ventilated/cool area and even in front of an air conditioner, the CPU temp hit 84-85°C and comfortably sat at 76-80°C, which 80°C is my limit. I'd rather not fry my CPU. I stupidly used it on my lap for about 10 minutes once while playing a game and got a first degree burn on my thigh from the heat alone. The fans are a little on the loud side, the fps runs beautiful, being a small SSD only 500 something GB, it can be slow to load sometimes, an upgrade should fix that, in my opinion, it should have had a bigger storage in it especially since it's a gaming laptop. The keyboard is comfortable, shallow keys, not really "clicky", mouse pad is a comfortable size, it's light overall, not too bulky, and if you don't like the red lights in the keyboard, you can dim them or completely turn them off. Fingerprints show easily on the exterior of the laptop, but to be expected I guess.I'd weigh pros and cons before buying, if it's right for you, and what you'd be looking at playing on it. A cheap desktop would be more worth it IMO. I have no doubt you can play pretty much anything on this, but beware of the CPU temp, a really good cooling stand may work to help somewhat, but I think it would be guaranteed to fry if it were used in the middle of summer. Manual optimising could save it too, unfortunately I will be underclocking mine for sure to get past the heat issue which is a big let down, not being able to use the full potential and enjoy it. Right now I regret the purchase and should have gone the route of building a cheap $2000 desktop instead that I could utilise the full potential of atleast.
This laptop is fantastic! Runs Diablo 4 like a dream. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five is because it definitely got quite hot during the 45 minutes of game play. I will say that the fan did keep it coolenough and the fan is pretty quiet. I had it in my bedroom, with the fan running while I slept. Overall, I would definitely recommend to anyone who is or isn’t on a budget. Great laptop!
