Couldnt believe my good fortune when I discovered these factory reconned NAD boxes at reasonable prices! Appears to be as new, blemish free, packed in sturdy shipping box. All functions work perfectly as far as I can tell. Glad to have it!

I bought a similar CD player from NAD 32 years ago when NAD had the reputation for quality sound. My C538 replacement is of similar quality with outstanding design, sound and function. Truly for audiophiles who want pure sound without any frills.

I was looking for a fairly basic CD player with no fancy stuff and the NAD C 538 fitted the bill perfectly. Easy to set up and operate. No user manual supplied but I easily found and downloaded the PDF booklet. The remote is smaller than average but does the job fine though it needs to opposite the front of the player. Like most modern CD players, it has a power saving function and goes into ‘sleep’ mode if not used after 10 minutes. It wakes up when you select eject and tray opens. Alternatively, just select the ON button on the remote and the player is ready for action. This power saving function can be disabled- see user manual The sound produced by the C 538 is of good quality and my favourite CD’s sound fine.

Bought Nad C538 Cd Player and set up with Nad D3020, bookshelf speaker Wharfedale Denton 80 anniversary edition, sound is excellent for the budget I spent for, I also hook it with tiny Tube single end Tubecube 7, speaker Bose Acoustimass 3 series 5, sound is wonderful especially with vocal or Jazz, I listened to Diana Krall album Wallflower, I closed my eye and I can feel like she is standing in front of me singing, switch to Norah Jones Come away with me, I did really enjoy her beautiful voice, this CD Player is my great choice for my tiny system. Thanks Worldwide Stereo for fast delivery.
The CD is working well, it sits nicely on top of my 1980’s NAD gear that is still working 40 yrs on. I hope the C538 does as well.
We love the new hifi Stu and the team delivered. I think I am totally not their target audience at that price point (2-3k), and indeed my girlfriend dissed my underspend, but they provided great advice and I would return to them any day.
Even though the 538 is a value priced unit, the sound quality is amazing. I run it through an Outlaw Audio reciever to KEF speakers. Van Morrison has never sounded better...
Very smooth sounding. Not incredibly detailed, but not harsh or brittle either. NAD still produces this player with the analog RCAs out, as opposed to many modern players having only SPDIF digital and HDMI outs. Was a birthday gift for my brother and he loves it. I ripped him some CDs from my library and all played without a hitch. Safe and Sound sold me a factory refurb and it looks and plays like new. Saved me some bucks over brand new.
I bought this product and enjoyed its performance for a solid five days. Then the tray stopped closing correctly and the discs would not play. I gave up on it but recently had it repaired for $150. I can only hope it works again because the few times I actually used it I was impressed with its performance.
Have long been a fan of NAD but this was the first CD player from them I've bought. So far so good. A great improvement over my previous CD player: not an expert on the technical side, but I know it's good when I'm hearing new dimensions to CDs I've played many times before
