Age 53: Mature oily/normal combo skin with large pores, crepiness, fine lines and rosacea - I was always hesitant to try this foundation because of the "radiance" it promised. As an oily skin gal, I've spent my life trying to mattify my complexion, and even now that I'm a 'well seasoned' gal, I still prefer more matte than glowy. However, I received a blister pack sampler of this foundation as a gift with purchase, and decided to try it our on my day off from work. My husband came home that night, took one look at me and said, "Your skin and makeup look fantastic." There really is no better sales pitch than a compliment like that from someone you love and respect, especially when compliments from that person are so rare. I do have to set this foundation with powder and setting spray, and I touch-up with more powder halfway through the day because there's "glowy radiance" and then there's "blinding spotlight radiance". On normal to dry skin, and especially younger skin, I expect this would look positively perfect, but on more oily skin, it can still be a bit much. It does an excellent job of blurring all forms of texture though, so it's worth a little extra effort and touch-up. I have no regrets, and I wear this almost every day now.

I got this product for free in exchange for my review. I liked this product well enough. I usually use a Lancome foundation. I think I liked the consistency of my usual foundation a little better due to the thicker consistency. The NARS consistency was a bit more watery in comparison. However, I did like that the NARS foundation left my skin with a glow and I thought I looked good in photos. The cap seems to come a little loose though, so they could probably do a better job with that. Some benefits of this product is the the glowy finish that it provides. I also liked that, although it was a bit watery upon application, it did a good job of staying on. The formula became kind of dry as the day went on. 5 stars for the formula but 3 stars for the pump. I settled on 4 since it’s so easy to blend. The pump makes you think the texture would be thicker but it’s very thin so it’s kind of hard to control the amount with the pump gives you. It’s a very thin consistency so removing the pump all together is pretty messy and a waste of product if it does spill. It’s also pretty easy to break the pump if you twist the cap so only ever pull off the cap, don’t twist. That said, I’m speechless at how natural this foundation looks! My skin has never looked so good, like I wish I had looked like this on my wedding day. I work in healthcare and it survived with only minimal creasing in my smile lines, which is wish I would have taken a picture when it was fresh! My skin has never looked so good, like I wish I had looked like this on my wedding day. I work in healthcare and it survived with only minimal creasing in my smile lines, which is wish I would have taken a picture when it was fresh! It survived with only minimal wear after an 11hr shift with multiple face mask changes. I’ve tried Fenty, Rare Beauty, Sephora Brand and Lancôme and NONE of them came close to the finish I got after a full day. I usually get creasing with even my best primers and setting products and most of the time I don’t have anything left below my nose by my lunch break. This NARS foundation on the other hand, stayed on through an 11hr shift with only slight creasing in my smile lines with NO primer, applied and blended with only fingers(never had it go this well before) and only a hint of powder because the finish was lovely, I wish I would have taken a picture when it was fresh! The picture here is with no touch ups, 18 hours after applying and changing out of 9 face masks. I hope they never change the formula, it’s worth every penny.
I must say I really enjoyed using this product now my skin is not very dark and it's not very light. I'm like in the middle so medium is just perfect. Santa Fe perfect color for me. It looks like my skin you cannot tell there's any difference it's not dark it's not light it's not in the middle. It's nothing it's just right and it's hard with make up because foundations you can't always get the exact color for your skin and this color is perfect for my skin because right now it's the winter time and I get lighter as the skin lightens out from the summer so this is perfect for my skin. It's soft it leaves my skin able to breathe. I don't even feel like I have make up on right now. It's soft it leaves my skin able to breathe. I don't even feel like I have make up on right now. I really enjoy using this it's in a nice glass container and it's heavy duty and premium. I'd like the signature of its name on the front and just a whole look of the container. the color is just perfect for me it's soft it has a nice reflection to it so I have like a little bit of a glow and neutralizes any redness or anything on my face. It blends so well like I'm not wearing anything. For my skin this is definitely something I would purchase and I would definitely recommend it to family and friends. It's something new to me. I've never tried NARS foundation before I've tried the other products, but this is definitely top of the line and it's definitely gonna make me wanna buy it again it's really perfect. I like to go natural sometimes and not look like I have all this make up on and not have such a dramatic look and this is just perfect. Even if I wanted to go dramatic this is perfect underneath everything and then put on all the other make up and stuff but by itself just perfect for me. The color is just right the way it comes out of the bottle not heavy just right and blends evenly on face dries fast but doesn't dry face out leaves it soft clean healthy youthful!
NARS Light Reflecting Advanced Skincare Foundation was everything that I looked for inna foundation. I have very dry skin, so my ideal foundation needed to have skincare attributes to it. Enter this glorious foundation. I do not wear full coverage foundations cause then my face just looks super chalky, and no amount of primer and setting spray saves it. The Light Reflecting Foundation from the iconic NARS provided me with a medium buildable coverage, and while hiding my skin imperfections (my cheeks were a bit red due to BHA acid toner I used the precious night, and obviously some dark circles under eyes, and lines on my forehead). My skin looked so glowy and hydrated, and at the same time the foundation didn't feel heavy at all. I would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone who is looking for a quality product for everyday use. I adore this foundation and this is going to be a staple in my makeup bag.
I really, really wanted to love this product! It looks great on the models in the videos, and I wanted that glowy look for my super dry skin. The color I purchased was a perfect match. However, it looks terrible on me! It doesn't "stick" to most of my skin, just settles into every line and pore, looking kind of like spider webs. I tried using it over my moisturizer + SPF, then purchased the recommended Radiance Primer SPF 35 when that didn't work. The primer actually made it look worse. And adding setting powder to any combination made me look 20 years older. I had several chats with NARS Artists while trying to troubleshoot issues. I followed the instructions exactly, tried all of the tips from NARS Artists, YT videos, and nothing worked. At no point did a NARS ... MoreI really, really wanted to love this product! I followed the instructions exactly, tried all of the tips from NARS Artists, YT videos, and nothing worked. At no point did a NARS Artist suggest that it might not be the right product for me. We finally determined that my skin care serum and super thick moisturizer contain silicone based ingredients, which causes this water based formula to split. There should be a WARNING on the foundation that says it can't be used with skin care products that contain silicone. I'm unable to change skin care products because water based is not moisturizing enough for my super dry skin. I need the barrier protection provided by silicone-type products to keep the moisture in. I don't understand why NARS recommends a silicone based primer for use with this foundation, and it will obviously not work. I was told that all NARS primers work with all NARS foundations. The eye brightening has the same problem.
Disclaimer: I got the product for free in exchange for writing the review. I've been eyeing the NARS Light Reflecting Foundation for a while, after seeing other people's reviews on how illuminating the finish is so I was super excited to get the opportunity to review this product. The shade I chose was "Mont Blanc". I was nervous that it was going to be too pink or too light for my light East Asian complexion, but the actual foundation is just perfect, with no hint of pink and matches my skin perfectly. I had been using BB creams and cushion foundation lately so the texture and consistency of the Nars foundation was not what I was used to. It's lighter and more fluid and watery than the BB creams but covers quite well. My favorite part is that it layers really well without looking cakey. I usually apply a generous amount over my entire face, buff it out with a beauty sponge, then apply a second thinner layer, then use a smaller finder sponge to smooth out the final layer. The finish really is glowy and I don't like using loose powder on top for fear that it would take away the glow. What surprised me was that while the foundation doesn't dry matt, it blurs out and covers the pores more after it completely dries, almost like it needs time to set to arrive at the final finished product. It does cling to dry patches a bit when I'm applying the foundation, but after it completely dries and sets the dryness sort of disappears. The foundation lasts all day for me without separating even on my oily T-zone. I have not noticed any oxidation either. I'm so glad I got it and would definitely purchase it again and would recommend the Nars Light Reflecting Foundation in Mont Blanc to anyone with similar skin tone and skin type! The only con I can think of is that the nozzle dispenses a full pump each time, meaning it's possible to dispense just a tiny amount for a quick touchup.
skin tint for the last 5ish years just to not look cakey. I was primarily using the ilia skin tint and although I love it my oily skin only became worse with it although it really did last all day. Thos is the only product that has come close to its stay power, without over covering or looking too thick but covering just enough to even my very pale complexion that is acne prone. It’s got the most beautiful dewy finish that immediately drys down after it’s patted in. And it lasts all day. I’m never going to find a foundation that doesn’t go a tiny bit into my smile lines, but this one has the faintest line that can easily be buffed out with your hands. And not to mention it really does last all day, no lie whatsoever especially on an oily girl who can use 3-4 of those grease strips and saturate them through a day with normal makeup wear. Powder applies beautifully on top and with small touch ups through the day if needed. Count me as impressed. Especially with their shade being light enough and the correct under tones. I’ve always been a nars girl generally but this is one good product.
I have been using Sheer Glow in Deauville for quite some time which I love as an evening out kinda foundation. I have fair-light olive skin with yellow tone. Deauville in Sheer Glow is a tad too pink on me but noticed this one to have a bit darker shades despite the same names so got a sample in Gobi to see if that could be better (also got Deauville which I am comparing to Sheer Glow Deauville in an attached pic). Colour itself is great for olive skin and green tones but it was still too light unfortunately and Deauville in this compared to Sheer Glow is much more peachy which wasn't good for my olive skin. So a bit disappointed there really was no shade match in the end.I had massive hopes for the foundation itself and was stoked to finally try it. Sheer Glow is not very glowy despite the name so was expecting this to be. But in the end it was very matte, just less covering power and it didn't hide my rosacea fully which is mostly the only thing I try to cover on my face with foundation as I have no blemishes. So don't know how it would perform to hide them. It did blur my pores quite nicely though. But all in all having a bit too light shade as well, I looked ghostly and not glowing with some redness still coming through. And the foundation didn't feel as nice on the skin as I expected.
