The best setting powder I’ve ever used!! I’ve been using this for a little over a year now and I refuse to look back. It’s more expensive than I’d like it to be, but well worth it! I only need to buy 2 of these in a year and I wear makeup 5-6 days a week. I don’t often need to reapply, most days I don’t because I forget, but in the summer when I’m spending the day outside, I like to reapply once midday to keep everything in place. It looks SO lifelike and not caky and it pairs really well with the nars soft matte concealer, but also any other face product I’ve tried underneath it (currently really loving the dior backstage foundation and/or concealer for a natural look).I like that the “crystal” component is a very fine almost unnoticeable shimmer that just makes ... I’ve tried one of the laura mercier powders before and thought that it looked too glittery - the nars powder is not like that at all! So lovely! Absolutely recommend. Also, I prefer this one to the loose powder just for convenience’s sake. I travel a few times a year and like that this isn’t messy at all, doesn’t produce a cloud of powder when opening after flying haha! I also feel that you waste less product than the loose version. I’ve had a lot of pressed powders that would just crack towards the end, making it really hard to use, but this compact has a structured grid pattern on the bottom of the pan to prevent cracking and you really get to use every last bit of it! I haven’t seen such an interesting texture yet, it’s like silk). It’s really reflective, while removing excessive fat🤔 that’s such magic) how? I don’t understand this either, because it has microscopic sequins, in fact, on the contrary, it seems that it will enhance this greasy shine, but no! This powder removes oiliness and gives silkiness to the skin and a healthy glow without a “pancake” on the face 🤩 well, it’s just super! As for fixation, I can say that it holds perfectly, and even without a tone. And he keeps his makeup well. Applied early in the morning, and at night, before washing off makeup, it is present on the skin as if it had just applied, does not disappear anywhere. It kind of covers with a light veil and merges with the skin. Powder also has such ... MoreI haven’t seen such an interesting texture yet, it’s like silk). This is a super finely milled powder. Very hardly pressed in the pan. This makes it hard to pick up with soft delicate brushes (and my favorite brushes to use are FUDE grey or blue squirrel brushes for powder but they are too delicate for this powder). Once there though it is really nice on the skin, lightweight, invisible, mattifies without looking cakey. Because of the reason mentionned above, it is not a everyday powder for me but there is one application where it beats all other powders in my collection and it is for touchups. It really absorbs oils without cakiness or adding too much on the skin and really refreshes my makeup to look as if it was just applied even after a couple hours.

I am a 51 year old mu junkie. when i say i have tried just about every loose and pressed setting powder over the years, it is the true true. From maybelline, physicians formula, and other drugstore brands (yes Coty airspun from back in the day!), mid range Clinique loose powder (in my teens it was uber luxe!), of course LMercier (my go to for YEARS!), Bare Minerals, MAC Blot, Innisfree matte no sebum, and recently Westman Atelier pressed, this Nars in Crystal is the winner. I dont even understand how this works! It is like nothing else. It is there, creating a diffused blurred effect, but undetectable! I dont want coverage, I dont want color, and if you are fine with that this powder is IT! sets and doesnt look like a layer of beige powder atop your skin, it just make you look finished and polished. LOVE! On my second pan (bought the holiday version bc gold stars!) and that almost never happens.
I wanted to try a pressed powder to go with my Light Reflecting Foundation. The result is wonderful. Filtered look. Not drying for my dry skin. Light feeling. Just great. The only issue I have (no fault of the product… I think) is that I get hard pan pretty quickly. It’s probably because my foundation is pretty hydrating so the oil from the foundation transfers to the pan. I have 3 powder brushes I switch out every two days because I wash all brushes on the weekend. If you don’t wash your brush daily using the same brush the product is hard to get out. Not that big of a deal to me because the product is good.
There's a reason this powder has been a fav for so many years because it was years ahead of it's time and still remains the best. This powder is intended to be 'undetectable" so if you want to bake and the 'dramatic" powder effect, try the loose version because the pressed version isn't meant for that. I personally prefer to apply it with a sponge and there's a reason a sponge comes with it because it's the best method to use when picking up the product. Once I warm the powder up with a sponge, I can pick up a 'thin" layer of powder with a brush but again, the powder is intended to be light and undetectable. Once I warm the powder up with a sponge, I can pick up a 'thin" layer of powder with a brush but again, the powder is intended to be light and undetectable. So you're not going to pick up a lot of product with a brush. Also using a sponge makes the blurring effect much more effective than using a brush and not having the buff the powder into the skin. It sets foundation giving a smooth and matte/skin like finish and although it has a "sheen" its not noticeable on the skin and isn't "luminous" at all. This control oils without drying out the skin as I find the loose version drying but oily skin types may not have any issues as I'm combo/dry and the pressed works better for me. I have olive/tan skin but do not experience flashback under the eyes in pics from the powder. Which is my fav thing about this powder because I prefer to use crystal/white powders to set my foundation to not add any color and I don't have to worry about this powder giving me ghost face.
This powder is finely milled for a purpose so that it looks flawless on top of luminous when applied. If you get a black tipped brush you can easily see product is on it but it’s not meant to go heavy when applied but to apply it more effortlessly with less product and it applies so smoothly with no texture. You can brighten and set your under eyes and your T zone more flawlessly unlike ever before. This is an outstanding luminous powder when you understand how it’s truly suppose to be applied. If you lightly tap your brush unto it you will get more than enough product to work on your face. You don’t have to push into it. The product is there. I love it and hope you do it finely milled like this in a banana shade as well in the future.
This is a brilliant powder and despite the white colour it has no flashback (tested by yours truly) and gives off a beautiful smooth matte (not extremely matte/dry but a nice non shine) poreless finish. It does take a little bit when it’s brand new to get the powder as it has a sort of “film” that you need to break through but once past that it’s beautiful and a little goes a long way. I have combination skin and it doesn’t exaggerate my dry areas and keeps my oils at bay much better than any other powder I’ve tried. It’s also great for top ups throughout the day to keep the shine down and “revives” my makeup. Brilliant powder and does exactly what it’s meant to. I highly recommend.
I actually use the darkest shade as bronzer and I love the finish. It's gives such a natural, healthy, glow-from-within type of look on the cheeks without being too harsh. I might get my actual shade to use as a setting powder, I like my setting powders to be translucent because my foundation and concealer add enough converage and I don't want to cake up my makeup by adding a coloured powder on top. The shade I use as bronzer is so finely-milled and buildable; it's level of depth is customizable so you can sheer it out or get a nice, toasty bronze to your liking. So for this reason, I think I might also like it as a setting powder since it's easy to apply thin layers that won't cake up my makeup underneath.
First things first. This is really tiny. Approx the size of a single NARS eyeshadow. However, the actual product is very good. The powder has delicate pearlescent sheen without being glittery or overly shiny. Just luminous not glowy and not soft matte either. Excellent undereye powder and very good for all over the face with a flattering blurring effect. At first difficult to pick up with a brush (you meed to break it in a bit) better to use a dark brush so you can actually see product on bristles. Will buy again but standard size.
