Bought as a replacement for a long suffering much abused regular sized Nemo Astro that had accompanied me everywhere from Sydney bushland to Tasmanian mountains that finally gave up the ghost after my dog scuffed it up with his claws one too many times during a year of living in an Oz-tent. These things are tough. Similar to a Tensor, but more heavy duty and practical imo. Appreciate the included pump sack...it's a high volume pad, and trying to inflate with lungs at altitude after a tough day climbing is challenging to say the least. The main challenge being not to pass out..This pad will be a faithfull friend for many years if you choose it.

After having a self-inflating mattress failure on a camping trip I decided to invest in a better quality pad. This one seems really great so far. I've tested it in the living room :) and the quality of the materials, the valve and attention to detail seem really nice. I'm 5ft 11 inches - and about 168lbs. Very glad I got the long and wide version - there is definitely enough length, the width is not really wide, but should be fine (I guess we always have to balance weight and size, especially when backpacking). It's really comfortable and easy to inflate and deflate. Would definitely recommend.

I've used this inflatable sleeping mat a couple times now and here are some initial thoughts. 1) It is very comfortable. No part of my body felt the ground beneath me. Additionally the head area hold more air so it is slightly elevated to give a pillow like feel. 2) The design is sturdy and well thought out. It seems well made. The mat packs relatively small (suitable for backpacking, bike touring, etc...) Additionally it comes with a repair patch kit and a velcro strap to hold the roll before stuffing. 3) Now the downside, this mat is not self inflating. It takes approximately 28 aspirations to inflate. It's not the easiest to inflate. Though again a positive design feature allows you to take breaks btwn aspirations without losing air from the mat. Though for the price if you want a comfortable well designed mat this mat is an excellent option.

I now have an insulated Astro and a non insulated Astro. I bought the non insulated one first and found it to be about as comfortable as I could imagine being while backpacking. I liked it so much that I bought an insulated one for cold weather. I’ve used it once during a 40 degree F night in a 15 degree disco bag. I was disappointed by it. The pad did not provide as much warmth as I expected. I could feel cold coming up from the ground into my bag. I didn’t perceive a difference between it and the non insulated version. I’m planning to try a foam pad in addition to one of my astros next.
The Nemo Astro Long Wide Sleeping Pad is a game-changer for a comfortable night's sleep in the great outdoors! As a tall person, I've struggled to find a sleeping pad that truly accommodates my height, but this pad has exceeded my expectations. The long and wide design provides ample space to stretch out and ensures that no part of my body is left on the cold ground. The horizontal baffles are strategically placed to provide even support and prevent any uncomfortable pressure points. With the Nemo Astro Long Wide Sleeping Pad, I no longer have to sacrifice comfort for the sake of camping.
I bought this sleeping pad just over two months ago, and absolutely love it. I have taken it on a kayak trip, multiple backpacking trips and an extended car camping trip. I have slept on it on rock, dirt, grass and roots, but once you're on it you cannot tell what is beneath you. I got the long wide insulated version as I am 195cm (6'5") tall and intent house this for well into fall, and early into spring. I fit very comfortably on it and only my feet hang off the end, which is honestly an inevitability for me. So far the coldest night I have slept on it was about 5C(41F) however it was in August so the ground hadn't cooled too much, however I did stay nice and warm. Since buying this I have convinced two of my friends to also buy one and they have all loved it as ... MoreI bought this sleeping pad just over two months ago, and absolutely love it. Set up is very easy, and it is very easy to roll back down into its fully compact state.TLDR; Very comfortable and warm, would recommend.
Effortlessly Inflate in seconds with the provided air bag. good support for back and pack in small flat package. The only down side is the width of the mattress. I’m a 5 feet 8 and i think that men in general should go with the larger model. It takes a bit more space in your luggage and it’s more expensive but worth it if you can afford it.
This pad like all Nemo products are awesome. Bought this for my partner who is a side sleeper and was suffering with her hips going numb from her thermarest. Got this in a long wide for comfort. It is not "ultralight" but ultra-comfortable. The material is nice, soft to the touch but we still use a slip cover for it to join our two pads. The valve flaps/covers are a lot better designed. I have the Quasar by NEMO and love it, but the valve flap can sometimes stick and feel like it will break clean of the pad. That seems to have been sorted out. Tested her sleeping pad this weekend. Weather was 6C, with a Marmot -10c sleeping bag, and nemo switchback mat. She runs cold but had NO issues with her legs going numb, and didn't wake up in the middle of the night feeling ... Solid sleep pad. Also very quiet when turning on it. tried it without the slip cover. with the slipcover there is zero noise.
I waited to take this out on a trip to review, and I can say that it is clearly a quality, durable pad without much extra weight compared to an ultralight pad (I took it backpacking). It is not too loud either, like some inflatables. The raised head/pillow area ("pillow baffle") is GREAT -- my pillow has always slid off the top during the night in the past. That doesn't happen with this. However, for me the thickness/height seemed strange; 9 cm is a lot, so keep that in mind. But if you are looking for a quality inflatable pad, I think the material feel and durability is worth the minimal (200g?) extra weight.
We have both Nemo's Astro and Tensor insulated sleeping pads. Nemo's Astro is a good tradeoff of lightness, size and materials for the price compared to the Tensor. The Astro is space saving, while the Tensor is tiny. The Astro's material feels thicker and that it might withstand use better, while the Tensor's material is thinner and quieter and softer to the touch (so nicer to sleep on if your hand rests on it). Both are very comfortable for side sleeping (hip doesn't touch the ground) and for front/back sleeping. The bonus with the much more expensive and smaller, lighter Tensor is that it comes with the bag pump (so nice not to get light-headed while inflating!), while you seem to have to buy that separately for the Astro (hence the docked star). But both are small, light, insulated, comfortable — comes down to a slightly bigger, heavier pad for the Astro at very reasonable price, compared to a more expensive super light pad at about half the size. Both are quite amazingly small, though — keep that in mind!
