Nemo Helio Pressure Shower
Unlike gravity camp showers that need to be hung overhead and produce dismal water pressure, Helio LX rests securely on the ground and delivers the pressure you need to wash hair, do the dishes, rinse off gear, water your plants, or wash the dog. You can quickly and easily pressurize the voluminous 5.8-gallon / 22-liter tank with a foot pump - and with occasional foot pumps you can keep it fully pressurized for 7-10 minutes of strong, continuous spray. The tank cannot be over-inflated. Set the black tank in the sun to warm up gradually, or fill it directly with hot water for a warm shower. Refill Helio anywhere, even without a hose. The 7-foot neoprene hose is long enough to hold it overhead for a shower, or to reach all angles of dirty gear, muddy paws, or salty wetsuits. Compact ventilated carrying case stows tank, hose, nozzle, and pump neatly. Included nozzle sleeve secures trigger in the spray position for hands-free water pressure.

This exactly as advertised shower is excellent for overlanding - showering, dishes, dirty feet - and packs away into a small, light footprint. Filling it was no problem - the correct amount of pressure out of the tap aligned with the fill port and it filled in no time with little back splash. (filling it out of a stream etc. may not go as smoothly). It is near impossible to fill to the top but even at about 60% full it gives enough water for 2 kids to shower and 1 adult to rinse off. The fill port is a little tough to get closed and has taken me several attempts each time before snapping tight. My one true complaint is the inability to get it completely dried out between uses. With some extra hands and some strategic positioning you can use the air pressure to let most of the water out of the nozzle but a few drops remain leaving the inside damp. The bigger one seems to have a resolution for this problem but I went with the smaller one based on the weight when full - and I'm extremely glad I did. This one weighs enough when full and has met all of our needs while on the road.

I use this for camping and mountain biking trips. Fill it up with water and use the little foot pump to pressurize it. Great for rinsing dishes at the campsite and mud off of a dirty bike before loading back up to drive home. Water pressure won't be as strong as a garden hose at home, more like a super soaker. I find this is also more efficient in water use than the water containers with a spout due to it being a trigger activated spray gun. My friend's have had theirs for 3 years and theirs are still going strong so I'm happy to finally pick one up as well and expect this to last a long time.

I read dozens of reviews on different portable showers, especially the Nemo brand ones because they seemed to have so many high and low ratings. I was hesitant but really wanted to be able to spray down my surfboards and rinse off after surfing in places that don't have fresh water.Long story short, this thing works. It is not difficult to open or close the cap, just follow the instruction. The pressure is pretty good all things considered and you won't have to continuously pump it up as much as you'd think.Didn't give it the full five stars because the pump naturally lays upside down with the air valve on the ground and it's annoying to flip it over each time. Also, the water hose tends to kink right where it comes out of the bladder. Again - just an annoyance ... MoreI read dozens of reviews on different portable showers, especially the Nemo brand ones because they seemed to have so many high and low ratings. This. Is a very convenient and well made shower system. The bag will heat up with sun to give you a warm shower… or you could lightly boil some water and dump that in for a warm shower anytime. I had been using a Yakima road shower before and I wanted to switch to this shower because you could have a warm shower on a cloudy day, its more portable, and you could even set up an indoor shower system inside of a van with it too.
I've been using this while we're building a cabin and it's easily the best thing I've bought this year. It is so nice to have a hot shower after working all day and not having to rely on hanging a bag is a plus.I typically just let it sit in the sun for the day and it gets plenty hot, but not to the point that it's uncomfortable. Even on partially overcast days it seems to collect enough energy to at least get the water "warm enough."The water in the hose tends to be hotter (on sunny days) and cooler (on cloudy days) than the water in the reservoir, so use a little common sense at first. I don't think it will get hot enough to cause a problem, but if it's been sitting in full sun all day the first few seconds of water can be pretty hot, after which the ... MoreI've been using this while we're building a cabin and it's easily the best thing I've bought this year. I don't think it will get hot enough to cause a problem, but if it's been sitting in full sun all day the first few seconds of water can be pretty hot, after which the temperature seems just right once you get to the water that was in the bag.I'm 6'2" and the hose length is adequate. Another foot would be welcome but it's not a big deal. I can get three showers out a full load of water with sensible use.I wouldn't take this backpacking (although I suppose you could, it packs down fairly small) but it's great at the cabin while we're without running water and it would be awesome for car camping, base camp, that sort of thing. It's held up well after a few months of use. I just leave it outside when I'm not at the cabin and it seems to be doing just fine. This thing has been great and I only wish I'd bought sooner.
The design of this shower is super awkward. It is difficult to fill, but more importantly, it is nearly impossible to empty and dry out. I used the shower this weekend, tried to empty it at the campground, and at home propped the small flap open near a dehumidifier with no luck. There is still some water in there 2 days later. There is no way to remove the hose/nozzle to dry that out either. The shower itself worked really well. It heated up nicely in the sun. However, I am going to have to return it because I am not up for water sitting in the tank and getting funky.
While initially seeming and indulgence, this shower has graduated to the essential status. Very welcome while camping 4 days in Joshua Tree. Wind, sun and heat didn't stop activities, nor sweat. Refreshing to feel clean at the end of the day.We were fortunate to have been able to fill tank at Black Rock. Second campground had no water source. Water was so hot by end of day, we had to put the unit in the shade before using it. 11 liters enough for two showers and dishes rinse. The fill valve was a bit of a challenge initially. For me it worked best to start at one point and work around rather than trying to just push the whole thing in at once.To address the draining of the tank before storage, obviously pull plug and invert as best as you can. The residual moisture is dealt with by opening fill valve and leaving unit expanded in the sun. Sun will vaporize water. With valve end up, place unit on a flat surface on push down, like an accordion 3-4 times. This will expel the moisture. Repeat the process 2-3 times, as needed over a couple of hours. Total time spent is less than 5 minutes. You will have a nearly fully dry unit.
My best friend first got one of these during the pandemic so her little boys could conveniently shower before bed instead of getting into their sleeping bags with sticky marshmallow ick on them, especially as we camp in bear country. I, on the other hand, was stuck driving to the shower house, waiting in line, spending quarters, and sometimes getting back to the campsite an hour after the boys were already in bed. Over a year of multiple camping trips and seeing how useful it was for her family, I got myself one for an upcoming car camping trip where there is a restroom but no showers. I will be able to walk to the restroom and fill the bag with hot water at my convenience, as will other people in my party. Over a year of multiple camping trips and seeing how useful it was for her family, I got myself one for an upcoming car camping trip where there is a restroom but no showers. I will be able to walk to the restroom and fill the bag with hot water at my convenience, as will other people in my party. The small size is also very manageable compared to the larger one, which I would not be able to carry when full of water. But the main selling point for me, was past experience hanging shower bags from trees. I hate the potential damage to the limbs and the overall hassle of finding the perfect tree where you can also put a shower tent underneath.
I have tried many different showers and this is by far the best. The pressurized chamber allows you to use it only partially full and the water pressure still comes out strong. This was helpful for me, as I like a hot shower after getting out of the cold water (surfing etc). I would fill it maybe 1/4 full, add some hot water and I had a hot, pressurized shower. No worrying about gravity and getting the hose above you. Very happy with this.
It’s not a shower. How can a legit company leave out such a simple feature that would allow you to use the hose without having to constantly squeeze the trigger of the nozzle. You can’t take a shower with one hand holding the nozzle above your head constantly. In order to take a hands free shower you have to buy Nemos privacy shelter, which REI doesn’t even sell. But all the shelter includes is an elastic band to wrap around the nozzle trigger to allow you to shower “hands free”. Just use a rubber band and save yourself some money. How cheap is that? Would it cost more than a few cents to add that feature in?
