Netgear GS108 ProSafe 8-Port Gigabit Switch
Now you can have a powerful, high-speed network on a small scale. NETGEAR's GS108 Gigabit Ethernet Switch lets you build a system that provides a full, dedicated 1000, 100, or 10 Mbps connection so you can move very large files across your network instantly. The GS108 also lets you painlessly integrate 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps devices. This potent switch is packed with ease-of-use features to simplify your workday experience. Its compact design fits neatly into small workspaces and, since it's self-cooling without a fan, it runs silently and unobtrusively. NETGEAR's GS108 Gigabit Ethernet Switch moves huge files fast! It features a high-speed, auto-switching 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet connection. And because Copper Gigabit Ethernet is a full duplex standard, you can get up to 2000 Mbps on each port. NETGEAR's GS108 Gigabit Ethernet Switch integrates 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps devices on the same network. Every port automatically senses the right speed and full/half duplex mode, while Auto Uplink technology automatically adjusts for straight-through or crossover cables. LEDs embedded in each of the 8 RJ-45 jacks make for easy monitoring. Space-saving dimensions are ideal for desktop or wall mounting in home and small office environments. And it runs quietly, self-cooling without an internal fan.

Purchased this switch to add a few extra wired ports around my router/modem, and it has been working great. Very impressed with the build quality and it has been working since I plugged it in. Only (very minor) niggle is that the power adapter connects to one side of the device while all the ports are on the other side - if you're using this on a desktop then you'll have wires coming in from front and back. In its perfect habitat it would be wall mounted with the power coming in from below and ethernet coming in from above, power coming from one side and ethernet from the other. Or something like that. But maybe it's just me...

This Gigabit ethernet switch works very well, balancing loads to end point equipment capabilities. Easy to see which is which with the dual LED's per port.

It's nice and light. It's small. It's blue. It's metal. It's got NETGEAR written on it. Plug the power in and it starts up and works like a charm. What more could you want?

purchased after lots of research into different options to get internet to sleep out. Turns out the old fashion way of wired over everything else is buy far the best option and cheaper over a router that would cost $100s. speed test over WiFi was 3ms ping download was 69mbs/s and upload was 16mbsp/s wired was 101mbp/s down and 21mb/s up and 2ms ping my internet plan is 100/20 so good results wired in
Needed a simple plug and play unit that didn’t require any great technical knowledge. This unit did the trick. One month in and there have been no issues with the unit at all. Good value (relative to what else is out there). Pros: simple to use; multiple ports; compact unit; solid feel; great warranty Cons: none. Few instructions for users but it is plug and play and should ‘just work’.
Went out during a thunderstorm, taking out the entire wired home internet with it. Switches have been around for ~30 years and you can't protect the bottleneck that serves the entire home's internet? Phone calls to ISP, router company, electricians. All just to find out switching this horrible switch with a TP-Link solved everything. Don't support this garbage product. Buy TP-Link instead.
I have always thought Netgear products are best of breed and this Switch lives up to that. It provides true gigabit connections and I believe has increased the performance and throughput of devices. I use it to connect a computer running as a media server and some NAS storage and back up to the router (which had only 3 ports and they all seem to access network much better. I would advise to use at least Cat 6 cables.
Very happy with this purchase. I ran out of ports in our hifi setup and didn't want another wifi hub so this fit the bill perfectly. The Gb speed exposed a faulty cable in my setup and once replaced, has worked flawlessly. Only puzzle is why the unit has an on/off switch; it will never be used! Rapid click &collect from Harvey Norman made this an easy purchase.
Need to add more LAN Ethernet ports to your Modem?Expand one Modem/Router port in to seven.Plug Port 1 of this device in to a spare Ethernet LAN network port on your Modem/Router (Ethernet Cable sold separately) then connect other devices to the remaining ports 2 thru 8, turn on power and thats it!The device will automatically receive an available IP address from your Modem and the GS108 will allocate IP addresses to your connected equipment.Simple :)
Very reliable, Just plug it in and forget it. This is the second of these I've purchased for my expanding network and highly recommend it.
