I recently replaced the Netgear X4S (R7800) after having continuous dropouts and slowed internet connection with the Netgear RAXE300 router. Added this nighthawk to my existing att supplied combo unit to have more control over my WiFi, and to gain access to 6e 6ghz.Very happy with how its performance has been.Range is excellent in a 2800sq ft home. And speed tests have been 700-900 all over my two story home.Only negatives so far have been. The setup wasn’t great and took a few tries to get working. But getting the att hardware to play nice could have been the issue there.And the netgear nighthawk app and router gui in general could be abit better. Atad slow to load up. And you have to really dig around to find the more advanced options.It isn’t organized the best.But overall very happy with this router. And it has enabled me to fix the issue I was having with my Sony home theater system the ... My biggest problem is range, I have security cameras that lose signal and my smart TV’s won’t connect. I wanted to try the Nighthawk out in hopes for better performance and range. I gave it four stars based on what this costs, it’s expensive and you can get the same features for far less. My other gripe is having to pay a yearly subscription for security. Both myself and my wife work from home, so good WiFi is crucial. We have a fiber optic cable connection, so plenty of speed there. Because of the confidential nature of my wife's work, she has to be connected to the router by an ethernet cable rather than wifi. For some reason, when I connect from my work computer via WiFi, and she is also working on the wired connection, we get interference on her line. So we have been forced to use a smartphone wifi hotspot for my work when she is also working. The streaming TV service, etc., does not seem to cause this interference, and there is no interference when we have multiple wifi connections from different computers. Other than that, the wifi works fine.

But I bought the RAXE500 trusting that NETGEAR wouldn’t release an unfinished product or a badly finished product that could at least match the features that the AC2400 had. The RAXE500 does not match the AC2400 in features or even reliability.The RAXE500 USB ports do not work for streaming from an external hard drive. I purchased the AXE11000 because i was told by the BestBuy employee that it would in fact work as a repeater. IT DOES NOT have a repeater function in its firmware. This device will only function as an AccessPoint, a wired Bridge, or a Standard Router, it will not function as a repeater. I need to repeat my existing signal from my ASUS ROG GT11000 so i can get internet in the garage. The firmware in this device is also very limited in its features when compared to the ASUS ROG i have in the house. Obviously i will be returning it to BestBuy. It has been my experience that the Employees at BestBuy will tell you whatever it is they think you want to hear in order to get you to buy products. This new Nighthawk has HUGELY enhanced my network. All the wired connections max out my 550gbps, so I finally know what gigabit Ethernet can mean. WiFi is now almost the same 550mbps. I don’t need to use QoS now, since all devices are blazing now. So glad I upgraded. The Armor protection gives me peace of mind too since it seems to find the vulnerable IOT devices in my home and gives reasonable if sometimes cryptic names of the connected devices. 3 floor 2500ft^2 home very well covered. Owned the RAXE500 for almost 3 years now, and it worked well with slower internet speeds (DSL - 50Mb down/20Mb up); running DHCP, ~20 wifi devices and a handful of wired devices. once I upgraded to fiber (1Gb down/1Gb up), this router could not keep up! Both wifi and wired devices experienced similar issues, showed connectivity to network but unable to send or receive data; reboot this router, and it would be ok for about 10-12 days, then same problem over and over again.In the end, I had to split up the load by incorporating a separate WAP. The RAXE500 wifi has been turned off, so it only handles DHCP and routing now; 160day uptime and counting.
