After some comparison to other routers of this tier, I find that my choice was the right one. The 6 stream / 5.4Gbps / 25 device support offered with this router has, thus far, held up to its potential. I am a gamer and absolutely demand uninterrupted internet at high speeds and so far, it handles that job to my satisfaction. Reception on my wireless devices holds up well. I appreciate the NETGEAR phone app that lets you gage the signal strength so you can see if you have good peripheral device placement. I connected my Smart TV directly into the NETGEAR using a network cable, and it provides quick and seamless streaming for viewing any of my media choices. I have no negatives to list at this point because it was easy setup and pretty much plug and play experience. ... MoreAfter some comparison to other routers of this tier, I find that my choice was the right one. I hope it holds up; it's doing great so far.

My other router was starting to fail, and since I had a Netgear modem, I decided to stay within the same ecosystem and get their router. Setup could have been a little easier, but fortunately Netgear support was there to help. They require you to setup the router via smartphone; however, apparently, my phone was too old to do the job, so Netgear support had to walk me through how to complete the task. Once I got it setup, I had to listen to a sales spiel to get me to sign up for a service contract. No thanks. In all the time I've administered my own modem and router (save for the setup this time), I've never had to contact customer support. I consider a service contract to be a colossal waste of money. Anyway, the router is working well, and I'm happy to have chosen it.

Run, don't walk from ANY Netgear product. They used to offer an excellent product, they used to have satisfactory customer support. No longer! I spent an accumulated 16 hours of my time working with their tech support on a router within the one-year warranty. Numerous technicians were unable to repair. I made a reasonable suggestion they simply have me ship my non-working router to them and they send me a replacement. The answer was NO. We attempted to challenge the purchase through our credit card provider. They could not refund the charge because the router was 'officially' under the one-year manufacturer’s warranty. We tossed a $300 router in the electrical waste trash! We switched to TP-Link. Check them out. Easy set up, and I have not once had to reach out to ... MoreRun, don't walk from ANY Netgear product. It's a pretty reliable setup. My internet has drastically improved by over 7.2 times the original speed of my older equipment. I haven't had any drops with my connection or any inability to communicate with the device both wired and wirelessly. I do wish that explanation for all the options were either a mouse click away or just hovered over the mouse. But I suppose that isn't always possible considering that you have to consider what devices are being used. I do wish that the interface was more visually interactive like the videos I've seen on Linus tech tips. That was one of the reasons why I decided to pursue my purchase. I just wish the interface was improved from my older setup. But regardless of my disappointment, I say that the product is still quite better ... MoreIt's a pretty reliable setup. I'm thrilled to share my positive experience with the Nighthawk AX5400 router! Its lightning-fast speeds and reliable performance have truly impressed me. Setup was a breeze, thanks to the user-friendly interface. The extensive coverage ensures a strong and stable connection throughout my home. I've noticed a significant improvement in streaming, gaming, and overall network efficiency. The advanced features, such as MU-MIMO and beamforming, optimize connectivity for all my devices. The router's sleek design is an added bonus, seamlessly blending into my home setup. In conclusion, the Nighthawk AX5400 has exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a top-notch router experience.
This my third Netgear router. I stayed with Netgear as it's a known product for me and works well. I was able to purchase this on a sale through Amzn so it was a good value for me. This replaced an R7000P that the 5G radio went dead and the 2G only worked on channel 1. This new RAX50 has the familiar setup interface of the prior router. I chose to do my setup manually rather than using the Wizard since I have specific requirements for everything to work right in my Wifi crowded Condo community. Using a Wifi Analyzer tuning the routers channels so as not to run into overlapping nearby channels I was able to get much superior performance on the 5G on this new router. Impressive . Using a Wifi Analyzer tuning the routers channels so as not to run into overlapping nearby channels I was able to get much superior performance on the 5G on this new router. Impressive . I have about 30 devices on the access list which i then lockdown so no one else can sneak in. It's a mix of IoT devices, streamers , TV, phones, tablets, computers. Everything setup well and performance is great. The 5G is used for the Streaming boxes ( Apple and Prime ) and 2 TV's. They are not all streaming at the same time. As a test I set the Bandwidth on the 5G 2400Mbps performance was impressive. For day to day I leave at 600Mbps to be a good neighbor , yet still get good performance. I did find using the Wifi analyzer and the Apple TV streamer network strength indicator channel 153 was the best. Recommended if you need a good performing router.
When you think of technological progress, you imagine a product or service that would lead to improvement of some kind. In a noticeable and definitive way. After many a wrestling matches with this router, all I could conclude was that my older router was orders of magnitude better than this one. This is true especially on the 5Ghz band. Moreover, the Nighhawk app is an absolute nightmare. They force this service called Armor on you for a 30 day trial, without any prompting. Navigation is confusing as can be, and any tinkering only causes an even worse outcome than if you had just left it alone. Will move on from this and try another brand. Horrible.
Bought this router at the beginning of 2022 after reviewing 25 other routers. I've been in the IT business for 30+ years and needed an ultra-reliable solution for my business network without having to migrate over to NOC level aspect. The cost for this router was comparable to other high end routers. I also purchased the CM2000 Modem and discarded my ISP's equipment due to their unreliable functionality.Unpacking and setup was very simple and all equipment appeared to be brand new with easy instructions to get started. Changing the default login info was effortless and I was able to configure the entire process with no problems. Changing the default login info was effortless and I was able to configure the entire process with no problems. Updating the firmware was also unproblematic and the phone app installation when well too.Several months after the initial installation, I had some issues with the phone app. The app would not sort the list of devices connected and the reset function would not work on the app. Shortly thereafter, the phone app was updated and everything worked fine again.A couple more months later, I ran into a few new issues with the router. First, I cannot change the QOS function. If I try to define my internet bandwidth - the router interface does not save the setting and reverts back to the "SpeedTest" setting. Second, the "Security" says it is not enabled on the Home page of the router after logging in. Even though there is security setup on the routher and the phone app, it still says that it is "Not Enabled."Lasty, I am unable to turn OFF the "WPS" function and button on the router. The "LED Control Settings" just turn off the lights on the actual router device. This is not what I need. The WPS button can still be pushed and a device can be connected. The "WPS Wizard" get to a point when it asks to input a "PIN Number" if chosen not to use the recommended "Push Button" option. If a 4-8 digit PIN is not entered, there is an error requesting that a PIN be entered. And at this stage, nothing more can be done to disable the WPS feature on the router. So, minus the listed issues; it is a good router but I think I am going to go with the NOC network option and hopefully there will be no feature holes or discrepancies.
To begin: This is not a long term review as I just purchased and installed this yesterday. This is more to review the set up process and how is has been running in the brief time in which I have owned it.Prior to purchase I did a lot of research and heard some worrisome things about the setup process using the app. Most of the negative reviews I had read which I was concerned with were with respect to the setup process, wireless range and durability. While I cant speak to durability yet, the app was painless to use to set up my router. Given the reviews my first attempt to set up my router was to use the website but I couldn't find the proper link and the Netgear website took me into the deathloop trying to find a proper link so I just installed the app to ... MoreTo begin: This is not a long term review as I just purchased and installed this yesterday. Our house is about 3000 Sq ft and the router is set up next one exterior wall and there is signal right across the property which is approximately 10000 square ft.So far I give this item five stars. If I run into any durability issues in the future I will edit my rating and leave more clarification with that respect.
