NetGear at its best again! The packaging is superior. The provided instructions are detailed easy to follow. Pretty much a plug-and-play scenario with very minor technical procedures to follow. Netgear has done a great job to simplify things and provide quality networking products over there many years they have been in business. I would highly recommend this product because the quality of the device seems to be superior and long lasting. Overall the size is perfect enough to slap on top of a desk or a rock. You could easily hide this device as well including the wires behind because of its size. I’m getting 20% more faster speed somehow compared to my existing device. I've been using this for a few weeks as an additional access point on my existing network (Netgear Nighthawk Router.) The wireless range has been really excellent. Signal Strength has only been slightly higher than my Nighthawk router, but the speeds have been noticeably faster at the same locations. The setup was super easy. I like the option of using this as a standalone router or access point. I'd suggest this to anyone looking for an inexpensive Wifi6 addition to their network.

I got this few weeks ago and have been using it without any issues. I am using it in router mode connecting to by fiber broadband. The setup instructions were very simple and I like that it can just be setup with a web browser, no apps or clients need to be installed. Also like that it works quite well with internal antennas. I was doubting how the range would be but pleasantly surprised that I have no dead zone in my 2500 sq. ft. house. So with no antennas I also have more desk space now and the product looks pretty sleek.

I used to have a boss who always said "communication is king". I think he had something there - the instructions for this router are beyond bad. "Join the default network" - okay, I picked the netgear one but it wants a password and there is not one listed anywhere. From there - nothing worked. Netgear needs to take a step back - write up some instructions that are thorough (even if it requires a little bit more ink) and make sure they work. I gave up - will not be using this.
We were having problems with coverage in our house. It is 3 stories tall with about 1700 square feet on each of the three stories. There were already 3 range extenders in place but places like the garage and our deck area were getting low signal which caused performance issues with our Firesticks and our other wireless devices. After going online to get better instructions for how to connect and configure the Router as an Access Point within my network (do not rely on the instructions sent with the WAX206 because they are vague and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars), I was able to get everything connected the way I wanted. Performance has been fantastic with much better coverage literally throughout my home. I have mine connected directly to my Cable Modem via a hardline which nets me about 150 MBS via wifi on 5-G. I do not have the highest service available with my Xfinity internet so think about that information. I actually have the lowest I can get for my area because I rarely stream more than 3 devices at a time. I also work remote 100% for now so this is really something. I highly recommend this device for work/home situations. FYI, there a tons of options for configurations depending on how you want to define your network or utilize the router so you won't regret it.
I was looking for a Desktop WiFi6 Access Point with several LAN connections for some time and the specs looked great on the WAX206. However, I tried one unit before deploying additional units and learned that some specs are missing for me. No VLAN support, limited to just 3 SSID's and not possible to power the unit via POE+. POE+ support would be great to have but not critical. A few more SSID's (5~8 total) and VLAN support would however be a must. Perhaps an idea for a WAX210? I'm willing to pay more for these features. In general this device would really be great for many who don't have wiring in the ceiling for an access point and want a wired inter access point connection.I saw that in the latest firmware update 1.0.3.0 VLAN seems to be supported. I couldn't test as I already returned my unit. So no idea how it is implemented as it is not described in the user manual. If the features are available in this or a newer version I'm going to buy again.
I got this Netgear Wi-Fi router and access point to replace an older wifi router I had. Its been a couple days since setup and so far so good! It has a good wifi range and speed that reaches throughout the house and works with netgear’s iphone app so i can pause and unpause internet for my kids when its homework time. It also came with necessary ethernet cable and setup was a breeze. In the future, I can also reuse it as an access point to extend my home’s wifi range! Overall a good wifi router, would definitely recommend.
I run a small insurance agency and needed to upgrade my old 802.11n Wi-Fi. I recently got 2 Gbps symmetrical fiber Internet installed and I wasn't really able to take advantage of it because my Wi-Fi was the new bottleneck. I had a hard time finding any APs with an uplink port that supported more than 1 Gbps, so I was very pleased to see the WAX206 featured a 2.5 Gbps uplink. One stand out feature for me is the ability to create multiple SSIDs to segment different Wi-Fi clients. I can put office users on a more secure network, but still provide guest Internet access without allowing guests to get to anything sensitive on the LAN. Although I'm still using WPA2, I really like having the flexibility to switch over to WPA3 in the future. From my limited testing, it ... MoreI run a small insurance agency and needed to upgrade my old 802.11n Wi-Fi. Although I'm still using WPA2, I really like having the flexibility to switch over to WPA3 in the future. From my limited testing, it delivers solid 5 GHz 802.11ac performance. I've not been able to test 802.11ax though, because I don't have a laptop new enough to support it. However, I can typically hit around 75 MB/s when doing downloads to my 802.11ac laptop. My 2.4 GHz security cameras are able to connect as well without any issues.Unfortunately, It looks like 5 GHz channels are limited to a maximum width of 80 MHz. It'd be nice to have the option to jump up to 160 MHz, but I doubt it would be any benefit for me since I have quite a few nearby networks and interference would be a bigger problem at the higher channel width.Overall, I'm really happy with the rock-solid reliability and higher performance of the WAX206. It's my new favorite AP!
As a family who is extremely technology orientated, we have been through many routers through the years, from many different well known brands. The Netgear - Essentials WiFi 6 router actually gives all PC's full internet connection bars, no matter where they are located in the house (something we had issues with previously.A really great feature about this product is the ability to have three different connections, each one fully individual and customizable. By using the customization, I am able to connect all my smart home products, but I do not need to have them connected to the outside internet, meaning that an extra level of security is added to any cameras or audio devices. Smart Home and home server are on on customization, Kids and their gaming is on another, while my wife and I use the other. This is an absolutely amazing feature, and I honestly cannot stress enough how useful this is.Set up and connection are extremely easy for anyone that has some knowledge of routers and I was also able to connect the two different internet services that we have, and route them easily to where I wanted. The Product is made from extremely good quality materials that will last a long time and although it looks pretty basic compared to other routers, this definitely provides far more speed and connectivity reliability than any of the "hyped brands/products and definitely well worth the price. This is a product that I thoroughly recommend to others as it has truly given our household the best internet experience we could.
I bought this because of WIFI 6 (latest standard) and the 2.5Gb ethernet port. I run a wired 2.5Gb network in my small house between my server and computer, so 2.5Gb and price was the deciding factor. The setup wasn't obvious, I called the help number and had me install a Nighthawk phone app that didn't work. They didn't seem to understand I had a WAX206 access point not a nighthawk router. They then told me i had a virus and hung up on me. Netgear help line was useless, so I had to read the instructions. The step by step instructions were good. Following the instructions to set up the access point, I had no problems at all.
