This is a product that makes me wonder, "What were they thinking?" It's called "Sheer Zinc Dry-Touch Sunscreen" but there is absolutely nothing sheer or dry about it. It's thick, nearly impossible to spread across the skin, and leaves a sticky, damp layer on the face. I Have sensitive skin and just rubbing it in made my skin turn blotchy red and burn/tingle. The thickness of the product makes it impossible to apply, and the whiteness of the cream you see initially does not fully go away. It seems to never dry?? Its too sticky and uncomfortable for me. Definitely not a good sunscreen if u live in a humid climate like QLD. I had to wash it off to stop the burning and tingling sensation. Sorry but sensitive skin.... ME.... A definite No No

Can't complain about a product that actually does what it says on the bottle. I have extremely fair skin and psoriasis and I have used this successfully so far without getting burnt. I've also applied it under makeup and it went OK. Not as good as a primer but I didn't want to push my luck with the sunscreen properties not working as well as they should.

I am a Neutrogena fan but this sunscreen has left me disappointed. I didn’t want a chemical sunscreen so decided to give this a try. It is a thick cream which leaves a white cast even after waiting about 20 minutes. I applied my makeup and immediately felt like I had a heavy mask on my face. I wear a Chanel sheer coverage makeup which after an hour had disappeared . The formula is greasy and a little grainy. I may use in days I am not going out and staying around the house, beach etc. I don’t believe I need an SPF 50 so maybe there is another I need to try. I desperately wanted to live this

I have medium toned brown and Very dry skin. I have allergy to normal sunscreens so unfortunately, I have to rely on chemical ones. 1. To begin with, as it says on the bottle “dry touch”, don’t fall for this. Even if i have extremely dry skin, this makes my skin oily. My specs gets oily and dirty because of this sunscreen. 2. It is suitable for just caucasian skin. NOT FOR BROWN OR DARK TONE. 2.
Hi, I totally agree with Lissy7's review 9 months ago. I bought this item last week knowing that I needed to up my SPF game under my make up in the mornings. Chemical suncsreen really starts to sting & irritate my cheeks, temple & outer eye area after about 4 hours so it's no good - back to zinc we go. I have found that this product stays put over the top of my moisturiser. Warm it up first between finger tips and gently pat it on in 2 x thin layers to make sure all face is covered well. Go make a coffee, do your eyes, iron your shirt, then come back and gently pat on foundation, powder etc... the Neutrogena Sheer Zinc for Face will be sheer & dry by then and you'll be set & ready to go.
I normally wear sunscreen everyday and having been using this 50+ Sheer zinc face product for over a year. I have previously reacted badly to many sunscreens, however have had no issues using this product. It is easy to apply, although fairly heavy. Goes on the skin white, and needs to be rubbed in well. I would also recommend leaving it to absorb prior to any makeup application. If you try to apply makeup immediately you may have some issues. It is packaged in a convenient sized tube to keep in your bag. Product is priced well, and is widely available. It is also often available at a discounted price. Definitely recommend for people with sensitive skin, who burn easily.
I grew up wearing zinc sun protection in all the funky colours. However on growing up avoided it as the skin toned shades were always too whitening. Unfortunately this sheer zinc lotion is the same, it does dry clear, but it takes a while, not ideal for someone always in a rush. I would highly recommend this to my lighter skin toned friends, but for anyone with light olive+ or redness in their skin tone, probably not. It does feel like a light zinc cream, but the feeling goes away as it dries. No fragrance also makes it great to wear for anyone sensitive to perfumes in skin care products. Overall a good zinc sun lotion, but be prepared to look like you are wearing zinc cream at first.
Good sunscreen overall, but leaves a slight white cast, and since the sunscreen is a mineral and matte sunscreen you need to apply it quickly as the spreadability isn’t that great. And cleansing afterwards might be hard because its a very strong waterproof sunscreen!
I use this daily and love it. Provides a great amount of sun protection, it sits well on the skin. I am able to use make up on top without it shifting or sitting weird. The only down side is if you do get a bit sweaty it can run into your eyes if you put it too close to your lids and that doesnt feel great.
Firstly, this is a pure physical sunscreen and having this much zinc oxide is amazing for sun protection. And yes, it is thicker and will take time to blend out and settle. If you want to slab sunscreen on then just go, this won't be it as it will have a white cast. However, if you are willing to wait 30mins after application and then put on a light powder foundation then it's perfect. Based on the ingredient alone, this product provides the best sun protection as it reflects the UVA and UVB. Instead of chemical sunscreen, which absorbs them into your skin and years later could cause hyperpigmentation.
