This New Balance 442 turf in the wide version is a good coaching shoe. I need a shoe that I can wear all day without my feet hurting. This is by no means a shoe you would wear for performance. I would rate the overall material to be very average. The upper is not a leather quality you would find with other shoes. The tongue is easily the most disappointing part of this shoe. It's some kind of plastic/leather material that doesn't offer anything in terms of comfort or stability. It's a good coaching shoe, but that's it.

I was looking for some leather astro turf trainers as that's what I'm used to and I'm not that keen on the synthetic types. This shoe is decent quality however the inside lip feels less so. I ordered a half larger than my normal 10 and it just about fits. I could do with a little extra toe width but I'm hoping after a few more uses it will get better. For the price I paid and not being able to find similar colour and material in other boots, I'm happy with what I got.

I had to return the 442 V2's without ever wearing them b/c they were too narrow, and I ORDERED SIZE 9, 2E (wide) :~(. The turf shoes were "snug" with a standard pair of socks, but I need these for soccer refereeing which requires a liner (thin) sock and then regulation ref socks. My conclusion is that for some reason NB decided all turf users have super narrow feet and even the 2E size is barely what regular width usually is. Very frustrating.

These are my first-ever turf shoes. I purchased a size 9. The shoes are really tight at first, but they got stretched using them about 4–6 times. I like using the Nike Tiempos for outdoor activities, and these reminded me of them. The leather makes it really comfortable. I would highly recommend these, but I would not mind getting them half size bigger.
NB just missed it with this shoe. I have a pair of NB baseball cleats and golf shoes, love them, 5 stars. These, it's hard to imagine this turf show is made by the same company. The leather quality is poor, it is not true to size, it is not wide and is very stiff. These feel very cheaply made. I am a big NB fan but something is wrong with this design. Avoid these at all costs. I was on the search for a wide turf shoe, I typically wear the Copa Mundial by Adidas as the kangaroo leather is the most forgiving for my wide foot, but the turf surface is relentless on the softer leather. Unfortunately, this NB turf shoe won't be able to subsidize my Copa's. This shoe should be scrapped and they should try again, it really is that bad.
I have a 3E wide foot, I have worn the Copa Mundial forever because of it, but the turf is so rough on the kangaroo leather. This NB was the "widest" I could find (according to all of the online research), I was hoping to have found a turf shoe that would hold up to my wide foot on some of these turf surfaces. This pair arrived today, they are not true to size, they are not extra wide 2E, they are not flexible and the leather is of poor quality with no give. NB does it right in so many places but they got it so wrong on this turf shoe. If you are looking for a wide turf shoe, stop looking, buy the Copa Mundial (the real reals will know what I mean) and just accept that once a year you will have to pay about $180 for cleats.
I have bought the Adidas Mundial Team turf shoes for several years now because they were the only ones that stood up to the beating I put on my turf shoes. However, their width designation is D which means medium as anyone that has wide feet knows and that means my foot is not fully supported by the sole. I usually wear a 4E which is extra wide so D is a far cry from 4E as there is E, 2E, 3E, then 4E in width categories. These particular shoes are a 2E designation. I figured I would try them even if they were not kangaroo leather. Kangaroo leather is the best in cleats for softness and stretching to feet width. I have played two games in these shoes so far and I have found a viable replacement for the Adidas shoes I have always worn. Kangaroo leather and 4E width. If NB did these two things I would never look back.
Sizing is a problem. Recently bought a pair of 608 sneakers. 9 2E. Fit was perfect. Ordered the 442 v2 in the same size and fit was too tight. I returned, paid the restocking fee, reordered size 9.5 2 E and they are still too tight. Visited your Guest St Store in Brighton hoping for some advice but got none that would resolve my issue.
Ordered 12 Wide (2E), but the shoes are too short and narrow. The length is not true to size and the Wide 2E order is super narrow. Strangely, the rubber sole is very narrow, it appears that a slightly wider upper was stitched onto a standard or narrow rubber sole. Weird that the instep on the shoe is significantly wider than the sole. Not a good design overall. For perspective, I ordered a the 696v4 tennis shoes in the same size and width at the same time. The tennis shoes are true to size and width, massively wider than the 442v2 soccer shoes. The tennis shoes in the same 12 2E size appear to be an inch longer and perhaps 1/2" wider.
This the only turf shoe I was able to find that would accommodate my short and wide feet. I tried both Adidas and Nike and even the models that were recommended for wide feet felt way too narrow for me. After a lot of trial and error, I was able to find a comfortable combination for play; Currex CleatPro insole and Tabio or WeFoot thin grip socks.Pros:"Wide" widthRemovable insoleCons:May still be too narrow for someColorways are pretty generic
