Disclaimer: I received this product for free in exchange for an honest review.Pros:- The foam cushion on the heel is really nice and makes them particularly pleasant to run in if you're a heel striker.- These look really nice and sleek. I wear them to the gym and out on errands.- They feel well-made. No concerns so far that they're going to fall apart or my toes will through the top like similar running shoes.Cons:- They do run small. I'm usually a 10.5-11 and prefer my running shoes on the snug side so I got a 10.5 and they're too tight. Not unwearable by my toes do feel cramped.- Possibly related to the above, the foam cushion under the toe part of the shoe feels quite a bit thinner than the heel.Overall, I would buy these again for their classy look ... MoreDisclaimer: I received this product for free in exchange for an honest review.Pros:- The foam cushion on the heel is really nice and makes them particularly pleasant to run in if you're a heel striker.- These look really nice and sleek. I've been using the New Balance Fresh Foam X 880v13 for the past few weeks for my regular runs and I looooooove them ! I'm very active and always on my feet and I think I finally found a light, supportive and very comfortable pair of shoes. I've been using them outside but also inside either on cardio machines like treadmills and ellipticals or during my weightlifting session at the gym.I was lucky enough to get them for free in exchange for my honest review so I'm just going to speak the truth here: They are ideal for everything BUT deadlifting and squatting. Their sole being so cushiony it is not very stable for squatting but they are not designed to do squats anyway.... Which is also a proof that these shoes are made for running, walking or doing anything else ... MoreI've been using the New Balance Fresh Foam X 880v13 for the past few weeks for my regular runs and I looooooove them ! Which is also a proof that these shoes are made for running, walking or doing anything else on any surfaces where joints are solicitated . Their Foam midsole provides a responsive and cushioned ride, while the durable rubber outsole provides excellent traction everywhere I am. I'm now a big fan and I can't take them off lol. My feet feel so good when I wear them - even after 10h straight - which I've never experienced before in my regular tennis shoes. The upper of the shoe is also made of a mesh material that makes the shoes so breathable and lightweight. I do not feel "tight" like other shoes. They also have an external heel counter that helps to secure the foot in place and prevent slipping which is so welcome ! I had previous shoes without that and I still do not understand how they call them "running shoes" without this feature.Did I also tell you that these shoes have of a removable sock liner that can be replaced with custom orthotics ? I do not need it but I think that's a great option for runners, hikers or any persons who require additional support or have specific foot conditions that require custom inserts. In terms of sizing, the shoe runs true to size. I didn't have any issue on that.Being a longtime and intense runner I found these shoes to be one of the best in the market! To be honest, I've never tried New Balance before but I feel so stupid (or old ?) to never have bought them before ! They are an ideal shoes made for runners' feet: A responsive midsole and a durable outsole with a pretty looking design and colors. Now you can train or run in horrible conditions (rain, snow, wind) knowing that your feet will always be pampered and taking care of in a "relaxing bounce-house-like" place.Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed I promised !

I gave it 100 miles but I'm struggling to find a use for this shoe. It's both one of the firmest and least springy running shoes I can remember. The firmness stops me from wanting to use it on any easy or long runs. But it could still work for fast or short runs right? The lack of spring feels like it goes beyond lacking energy return. My feet feel stuck to the ground. Because of that I wouldn't consider it for a fast or short run. With that I wouldn't recommend this shoe for long or short runs, or for slow or fast runs. And that's the problem. I liked the width of its toe box and the drop felt comfortable.

The New Balance Fresh Foam X 880v13 running shoes are highly recommended. They are light, supportive, and comfortable with a cushioned sole and breathable mesh material. They are ideal for running, walking, and other activities that require joint support. However, they are not suitable for squatting and deadlifting. The shoes have an external heel counter to prevent slipping and a removable sock liner for custom orthotics. The shoe runs true to size and is suitable for intense runners. Overall, the shoes are highly recommended for their design and performance.
I've traditionally bought the 860's due to overpronation and the midsole has been pretty consistent for several generations (v9 to v12 at least). With the update in V13 a major change to lighter/less dense foam and less duel density under inside heel results in inadequate support resulting ankle and knee pain. Even wearing these as walking shoes (forget my long runs) results in sore knees. I think if the duel density was extend further under the heel they might still be lighter/softer than previous generation while still preventing overpronation.Cons - New foam is less supportive, less duel density under the heal, shoestrings are lower qualityPros - Lighter weight, softer cushion, attractive
I've used 860s exclusively for decades for their stability - to correct for pronation. The V13's different tread design with less area coverage by the denser tread material means that if my initial heel strike is lateral to the center line of the shoe the lateral side of the shoe then overly compresses leading to excess supination during the heel strike. For me this is a negative. This has never been an issue with previous versions, even the V12 which also used a Fresh Foam midsole, so I'm guessing the change in the area coverage of the denser tread may be the source of this issue. The fit of the shoe is as before and I like the simpler design of the uppers - no wavy stitching lines as on the V12. I hope NB would go back to full dense tread coverage of the sole so ... MoreI've used 860s exclusively for decades for their stability - to correct for pronation. I've been running in 860s for a while. At 200 lbs and vulnerable to calf and achilles injuries, I need a firmer stability shoe . The fresh foam on the V13 has made the midsole too soft and the medial post puts my feet in an over supinated position when I run. Luckily I was able to still purchase the 860V12 which is a perfect blend of cushioning and stability with a medial post that matches well with the midsole. With the Vongo already being a soft, plush, high stack running shoe, NB no longer has a traditional firm stability shoe in it's line-up. Not sure what options are left for those of us that really do need a firmer supportive shoe after the V12s sell out.On the positive side, the 860 V13 still has a great fit with a roomy toe box. If you like the fit of the V12 you wont be disappointed with that aspect of the shoe. Although if you liked the stability features of the 860 of old, you may be disappointed with this version.
I have to be honest, I'm very disappointed. As a huge fan of New Balance shoes, I wear them for work, running and casual.I bought the X 860 v13 for work, Black on black with a nice cushy sole and a good looking shoe in my opinion. However, after wearing them for only one shift, the toe cap failed with one large permanent crease. Due to its extremely thin construction, the cap overly flexes - while making popping noises with every toe bend, and ultimately creases into its current form. It's just not built robust enough. Now the crease rubs on the top of my toe and I'm just waiting for the next blister to appear. Had stronger toe cap been used, as seen in the Fresh Foam X 1080v12, this would have been a non-issue.This is always the challenge when shopping online, ... MoreI have to be honest, I'm very disappointed. I have the V12 and now the V13 these are the best shoes for my wide feet and bad knees. I can wear these at the gym for training and treadmill and easily transition to for walks in the neighborhood. My V12 had been a great shoe and these V13 are no different. They are super comfortable and the quality on these is fantastic. I with NB would make there shoes in a lifestyle shoe as i feel like the style on these are a bit too athletic for my taste but they are a great shoe overall. These have been true to size for me I'm a 10 wide and the fit is perfect. I got the black with the black sole and they better in person than online and I'm happy with the choice considering the other color ways they had.
I run 8.5 miles every other day. I am 59 years old and have been running for 10 years. I've been using 880s since v10. they are a work horse and have helped me improve my half marathon mile time from 8 minutes to 7 minutes. I have logged four 8.5 mile runs in the v13s and they are perfect. the upper is even more comfortable and the tongue is a much better fit. The sizing is true. The cushioning is still there with a feeling of more responsive push off.The only problem with this shoe is that New Balance is going to have an almost impossible task of making a better version.**** and not only do i practice in these shoes, I run my half marathons and 5ks in them****
