The 857 white and navy cross trainer represents an excellent everyday work shoe. It has a great appearence that can be worn with pants or shorts. The insole is made of durable material that provides great cushioning. The previous version had a plastic navy blue reinforcement on the 3rd eyelet from the toe. Hopefully, the eyelet will be as durable as the 857 version 2.

I've been wearing the New Balance 990's for running since the early '80's.For walking around, I've been wearing the MX857 for almost 10 years. I have a hip impingement since birth that reared it's ugly head in '18 which ended my running after 43 years. I work out now in the elliptical.I have on going spinal issues, so I can't screw around with sneakers that don't give me the proper support. For walking around, this is the best shoe for that.

I loved the 857, but the style change has driven me away. I will be returning the pair I recently purchased. It was the only shoe I wore (both black and white) for many many years because its style and structure were friendly to a foot with bunions. The change in style took that feature away. I then looked for shoes that might have a toe box as comfortable as the 857 and gave the 813 a try. I bought 1 pair and was pleased to see that it worked just as well - but when tried to buy 2 pairs - white and black - I was advised that my size, 12 6E, is not available. I am disappointed that after so many years of satisfaction with New Balance, I will have to try other brands. If you can help. please do so. I'd love to keep New Balance as my shoe of choice.Jerome Zeffren

Customer Service was great. The rep gave me the part number to help monitor whenever the shoes became available. It was "hit or miss" but I understand the backorder situation. NB is the only brand I've found that fits and lasts. I wear them daily. A lot of walking, but not "recreational" walking. The "ROLLBAR" feature is a great help for stability. They last about 6-8 months which is all I can expect. My supervisor also wears NB for size, comfort and durability as do I. Kiwi black shoe polish keeps them looking fairly new after I've worn them about 4-5 months. If you wear a 16 "Triple E" dress shoe, these are what you order.
My husband has severe problems with his feet and is awaiting his second foot surgery. He wears specially molded inserts. These are the shoes his orthopedic surgeon recommends. (Well, New Balance in general, but we've found the ones with mesh sides don't give him enough support.) I just hope they're never discontinued, because they've kept him going for 6 or 7 years now, and when they were temporarily available we never found a substitute. We try to keep at least one new pair in the closet.
This is my second time in 4 years that I purchased the NB 857 stabilizers. They help the pain I have in my left foot because of plantar fasciitis. I know they don't work for everyone, but they work well for me. The one thing I do change is that I use superfeet insoles instead of the regular NB insoles. That combo worked for me after working with my podiatrist 4 years ago to figure out the type of shoes that work for me.
Loved my 857v2 and purchased these in the same width. Unfortunately, there is stitching in a different place, across the top of the to box, that created a really bad pressure point. It became unbearable and I had to cut through the stitching to wear them since I didn't have another pair of shoes that fit.Still love the shoes but next time I will buy another width larger.
I'm over-the-moon happy that the 857 Men's Trainers are again available (current Version 3)! The 857 Version 2 have been unavailable since mid-2021. (eventually disappearing from the website). Having foot and knee issues, the NB 857 (and its previous model numbers) have been my daily shoe for 20+ years. With NB Customer Service having no knowledge of 857 availability or a possible replacement, I purchased 624's two weeks ago. They don't have nearly the support of the 857. My feet were in pain after wearing then for even short periods of time. Three days ago - going on just a hunch - I checked this website and found the 857V3's available again. I received the Version 3's today. They provide *exactly* the support my delicate feet need. I received the Version 3's today. They provide *exactly* the support my delicate feet need. I couldn't be happier.Yesterday, thinking about how unhappy I am with the 624's (pretty much unwearable), I phoned a supervisor at NB Customer Service (I was on hold for 50 minutes). I was happily given return authorization for the 624's - even though they had been worn and I no longer had the original packaging. I'm very pleased. On the rare occasion that I've had an issue with an NB product, they've provided me with excellent (I'll say Apple-like) service. Thank you!
I have been wearing NB shoes most of my adult life and I'm in my late 50's now. I most recently wore the 857's. The V1 was good the V2 was better at helping me with supination.Due to an earlier injury to both ankles roll outboards and the rollbar helped keep that from happening. This version 3 has very little support for the outward roll.Oddly for some reason they made the rollbar smaller on the outside and larger on the inside, BIG MISTAKE!!!!They need to make the outside as big as they made the inside and it might be an OK shoe again.I go through shoes pretty quickly, but these only lasted a week before they were too uncomfortable and broke down.I waited for almost over year because of supply issues just to be let down be this model change.
I'm a security guard, who does a decent amount of foot patrols and this shoe is great for the medium amount of walking I do (15,000 steps) 6 days a week.ultra comfortable in a size wide (2E), albeit a little room but the added room is welcome when trying to avoid pinch blisters.a downside that I can think of off the top of my head is: the toe box leather creases very quickly as it's a very soft and plush leather but hardly a downside as this will happen with almost any shoe known to man.all around one of my favorite shoes from New Balance so far and I would absolutely purchase them again.
