All around excellent cross training shoes

I compared the New Balance 608, 623, and 624 to my old pair of the discontinued 636. The 624s really stood out as the best fit, higher quality materials and construction, and most supportive. These are quite a good value. I use them with SuperFeet insoles. The 624s have a good balance of stability and shock absorption. I would prefer a bit more motion control, but for the most part they provide good stability. These are quality cross-training shoes, not just "Dad shoes".

I have been buying these New Balance 624's for years and years. It was only this purchase that I realised the V Number in the name was a version number. They don't change that much from 1 version to the next.I like these shoes because they are hard wearing and come in multiple width sizes - regular to 4EE I believe so if you have feet like Donald Duck these might be the ones for you. They are comfortable and affordable.Tip - if they get dirty you can get them back to brilliant white with a micro eraser from your local grocery store.

This mismatched labelling for width sizing is a common problem with the New Balance factory. If I purchase instore, I can't get size 11.5 6E and I have to go up to size 12 4E; purchasing online may be seamless but inconvenient to travel 100 klm to a store to do a return.

Great pair of shoes for work, training and play.
23 September 2020

I love these shoes- this is my second pair of similar type/style from New Balance. They are long lasting- over 5 years of good leisure and work use. Next, the size is consistent, the old shoes which fit like a glove and the new ones are just as comfortable- from first fitting. Style- unobtrusive and understated but cool and with good styling. Comfort is great- nice fit, (research the correct size and width- maybe Rebel can make this easier for new purchasers?) and comfort, especially on the heel. Value is great- I got them on a special which just made them more exceptional to me, but price wise they are the same as I paid for the first pair 5 years ago which is great- and before the discount! Quality if the previous pair is anything to go by is very good, just a small tear on one toe after 5 years, but to be honest I could still be wearing the old ones- but I wanted something new. I'm looking forward to another 5 years of use.

Like Walking On Clouds
21 June 2023

Special wide fit that suits me perfectly. I walk up to 40 kilometres a week to keep my diabetes in control and have to watch for blisters or foot injuries vigilantly due to my condition. I bought my first pair in Tasmania after being in a great deal of pain due to the bad fit of my previous brand. The staff at Rebel Sport knew exactly what the problem was and fitted me up with the New Balance 624 wide fit shoes. I've just replaced them after a year and according to my Fitbit, I've walked 1,700 kilometres in them. They were still comfortable and not badly worn but Rebel had them on special so I bought a new pair. I'll never buy another type of sports shoe .

New Balance 624 Cross Trainers
11 May 2023

Product received quickly and efficiently. This is the third pair of New Balance cross trainers I have purchased. A couple if issues -1. The laces seem to be very long, or they stretch over time. This makes the laces a bit dangerous as the end can hook round objects or the laces pulled out from being laced up. I suggest their lenght be reduced by about 4 inches for each shoe. Also, as the shoes wear the black soles can separate from the bottom of the shoe. Also the front of the bottom of the shoe can also separate right at the front of the shoe. I have fixed both issues with contact adhesive (Selleys Shoefix). Having said that, The 2 pairs shoes have survived reasonably well for 3 years each, so i am looking forward to "testing" my 3rd pair.

On to the 2nd pair after 3500 km of use.
20 April 2023

I walked over 3500 km in these shoes. Not at once, but on a daily basis over 18 months. The only issue is that on the stitching passes over my little toes, and had developed painful corn's to form. This area of the stitching is very stiff and does not give (stretch).Eventually, my toes split the vinyl, from the moving pressure point. Band aids on the toes was a blessing.Otherwise, my second pair (yes, they are wearing well at 1,000km) and is a 2E not the 4E of the original purchase, are a lot better and the corns have gone.Too loose a fit with 4E size on the 3,000km pair was a lesson learned as the feet squirm if too broad, especially as do a lot of walking on road chambers.I do find that for me, the shoes are too long, and rub on the heels. Those blessed with ... MoreI walked over 3500 km in these shoes. Quality and Comfort AGAIN
2 July 2023

These shoes are cheaper, price-wise, than many of the other available brands and they are surprisingly light and comfortable. They are very durable (I have bought these shoes before) and love the solid tops as opposed to the netting-top on many other brands. The shoes arrived by post, well before the expected time. The quality of the shoes and the efficiency of the New Balance sales team means I plan to buy from them in the future.

Shoe Size
11 October 2023

I scored a one star because I am upset with myself for not checking that I had chosen the right product - I bought a size too small so the shoes were of no use. I guess the one star reflects a, probably unreasonable and irrational, thought that given I have bought these style of shoes on maybe ten times before that Athletes Foot would have remembered and asked me why I'd changed my shoe size. Everything else was fabulous and would warrant more stars - 4 or 5 but that mistake bothers me.

Third consecutive 624 purchased, but not without shortcoming
6 February 2022

I just purchased my third consecutive 624. They seem to last about three years with daily wear, mostly indoors (oldest 624 used for yard and lawn work). Not unexpectedly, the soles remain in great shape Wear occurs inside the shoe--at the heel, at the Achilles tendon, and around the upper edges. The only reason I can think of for this excessive length is that New Balance is catering their products to people who don't know the difference between a square and granny know, how that difference applies to a bow, and who need to tie double or triple knots to try to keep the laces tied. I count on replacing the laces with 30" ones before I wear them for the first time.
