New Balance Unisex 574 Light Mushroom/Stoneware/White - Size 6.5

(673 reviews)

The most New Balance shoe ever’ says it all, right? No, actually. The 574 might be the unlikeliest icon. The 574 was built to be a reliable shoe that could do a lot of different things well rather than as a platform for revolutionary technology, or as a premium materials showcase. This unassuming, unpretentious versatility is exactly what launched the 574 into the ranks of all-time greats. As hybrid road/trail design built on a wider last than the previous generation’s narrow racing silhouettes, the 574 offered a uniquely versatile mix of new, different, uncomplicated, rugged, durable, and comfortable that was adopted as a closet staple across the globe. That’s why today, the 574 is synonymous with the boundary defying New Balance style, and worn by anyone.

I had my eye on the eye for a while and waited for the sale price. New Balance have been my exercise brand of choice for decades. These also look lovely with jeans, linen trousers etc. Very comfortable and lightweight. New Balance classic design

As recommended by previous reviews, I went up a size and the 7 fitted perfectly. These trainers are incredibly comfortable from the first wear, good support and I just really liked the colour. They look great with jeans etc. Overall really pleased with this purchase from John Lewis and excellent value for money.

Comfy and stylish, great for exercising and walking

Very comfy trainer, used for commuting and also exercising, did body combat class in them and they had good grip and gave me no back pain so good for higher impact activities. I'm usually a size 6 but I took the advice of the other reviewers for this style and purchased size 6.5 which is super comfy. It was a little loose around the ankle so I used the extra side eyelet and that resolved the issue. I'd give these a 5 star for comfort but they made my feet overly warm so I didn't find them as airy for temperature control as other trainers I own. Nice colour options and this beige/grey/white mixture goes with lots.

Great Trainers
29 May 2024

Love New Balance! I find their trainers especially the 574 really comfortable whilst looking good. I wasn't sure I liked this colour way (grey, yellow and black) but found it in store and they look a lot nicer than the photo online. Colours are quite neutral so will go with most outfits. New balance sizing seems a bit small I'm a 6.5 but size up to a 7 which fits perfectly. This style is also quite wide which works for me

Great Trainers
10 April 2024

Ordered these online in my usual size 4 but like others found them too small. Luckily I had them delivered to store and managed to swap them for a 5. I suspect a 4.5 would have been a better fit but they don't come in half sizes. For that reason I gave them a 4 star rating. These are my 3rd pair of New Balance trainers and they are always the most comfortable trainers to wear.

Nice looking comfortable trainers
12 September 2024

I bought these because I needed a nice looking and comfortable pair of trainers that come in half sizes and I liked the look of them. After others reviews about them being slightly small, I chose to go up a half size and they fit me perfectly. They were really comfortable from day one

Poor finish on Magnet colour
23 September 2023

I brought these in Magnet, but what I did not notice is that the tongue of the shoe does not look like it has been finished properly - you can see the foam at the edge. This does not appear to be the same when you look at the pictures of the other colours. It is as per the photo of the "Magnet" on the website, so the description is accurate - just do not know why it is poorer finish in the one colour. Worried it wont last.

The coolest trainer around
20 September 2021

If you're wanting to liven up your footwear this winter then these are definitely for you! In the classic NB design, this season they come in some really great bold colour options. When everything else is so dreary, I think a bold pop of colour on my feet could be just what's needed to cheer me up! These are amazingly comfy for fashion trainers and I am going to be wearing these with jeans and a burgundy or pink jumper to match my feet or with a simple black or grey jumper dress and let the shoes do the talking! I would say that these run small, I got them in my usual size, but I actually wish I would have sized up as there is not much room in them. They also don't look particularly waterproof (I haven't rain tested them so this may be unfounded) so as we all know ... MoreIf you're wanting to liven up your footwear this winter then these are definitely for you! All in all though, I think they are excellent value and I love them!

Very comfy but size up
8 January 2023

I previously purchased the New Balance 57/40 in my usual size 6 and found they are a little tight on the toe - not so bad they're unwearable but lesson learnt! I sized up with this pair and they are perfect - light and comfortable, and I love the neutral colour. Suede protector recommended!
