NexGard Spectra is a soft, highly palatable beef flavoured, vegetable-based, chew that is readily consumed by dogs when offered as a treat. Nexgard Spectra contains the active ingredients afoxolaner and milbemycin oxime. Afoxolaner provides excellent protection against fleas. For maximum effect in the control of fleas, NexGard Spectra should be used in conjunction with daily searching and removal. Afoxolaner is highly effective at killing the most problematic tick species infesting dogs in Australia (Brown Dog tick, Bush tick and the deadly Paralysis tick). Milbemycin oxime protects against heartworm and treats and controls intestinal worms (roundworm, hookworm and whipworm). Nexgard Spectra can be given to puppies from just 8 weeks of age, providing they weigh at least 2 kg. However, as its use has not been evaluated in breeding, pregnant or lactating dogs, you should consult your veterinarian for advice on suitable treatment options. NexGard Spectra should be chewed and not swallowed whole. If your dog is prone to swallow treats whole, the chew should be broken into pieces and added to a small amount of dog food.
