Nextbase 122 Dash Cam

I bought this to replace a cheap dash cam I purchased on the internet about 10 years ago. I knew the resolution was 720 but did expect a much better picture which is actually worse than my previous dc. It’s quite pixely and is unable to show the reg of cars in front at a reasonable distance. The brightness needs adjustment in the set up as it’s quite dark but from early experience it doesn’t cope well with changes such as bright sunshine as you turn into the sunlight. I would recommend spending a bit more for a better picture. Not bothered about wi fi or gps so no comment on that aspect. Having said that if it just to protect the driver for insurance purposes it will do the job. I would just add that it does not come with a suction holder as I was advised. I'm happy to have bought the camera; the features will be very useful to me. I used the live chat to make sure I was getting what I needed. One of the questions I asked, was if it needed and SD card. I was told it didn't. When it arrived, I was excited - until I read the instructions. The first instruction was to insert the SD card. Which I hadn't ordered at the same time, but would have, which is why I asked!!! Now, I have to wait until I can drive to the city (without the camera set up) to buy the SD card, because I can't imagine paying shipping for such a small item. Unfortunately, I can't give a proper review regarding the camera, because I haven't yet been able to use it. I'm not impressed. Often, I would have to fully remove a dash cam from my car to bring it to my computer. With this dash cam, I just pop it off the strong magnetic base and I don't have to mess with wires. The quality of image is very good. This dash cam doesn't have a night vision mode, but the camera really doesn't need it. There is enough light to capture any events that are occurring. The stabilization is really good. Very smooth video. I have the camera set to the 'Park' mode which causes the camera to auto start when I start my vehicle. This mode also is a motion sensor mode. There are multiple ways to mount the camera. I chose to use the suction cup method. It is very sturdy and I have used it now for well over a month and the mount is still fastened to my windshield strongly. The unit does not come with a microSD card. I have a 32gb one from Nextb and it works very well with it. I am very pleased with this unit.
