I purchased these shoes hoping to use them for some fast marathon training. Normally I wear 12 in all of my other Nike running shoes, and these seemed to fit correctly at the store, but when I went running in them is was a different story.The combination of a heel padding that does not fit my heel correctly and a flyknit material that stretches out over the course of the run leaves the shoe slapping the ground loudly every time I strike it. I have to readjust my stride and it seems to be having a negative affect on the knees.I wanted to like this shoe. They are light and cushy, but they just feel too bulky and loose for me to feel fast in them. As a result I am usually reaching for a different pair when I can.

After searching high and low for new running sneakers, I have definitely settled on the Tempo Next. These shoes are so much fun to run in and the forefoot air pods keep my knees very happy! I have tried other sneakers since first purchasing these and nothing compares. Only problem is the durability. I supinate a lot when I run and I have gone through 2 (just purchased my 3rd) pairs of these in less than 6 months. Outer air pod popped in both pairs, and on one pair the sole started ripping between the airpod and midfoot. I will continue buying these, however they are definitely on the pricier side to be wearing out after 2-3 months.

While these shoes are comfortable, they have a MAJOR design flaw. The original pair I had purchased developed structural cracking behind the air pods, the slim "bridge" between the air pods and the midsole of the lower (about 180 miles of wear). This was about a 3" crack, only on the right shoe. Nike customer service took them back, evaluated and provided me a refund to get another pair (I was pleasantly surprised). Come to later last week I bairly hit 200 miles in the "replacement" Tempos and sure enough the same thing happened again. However this time more catastrophic. The left shoe had developed the same crack in the same ... I've logged 82 miles in this shoe since late-May, 2022, running about 3 times a week (that's under 8 miles a week! I'm easing back in after an injury). And the shoe is already falling apart. As you can see from the attached images, the forefoot on the left shoe is cracked, exposing the interior of the rubber sole. I'm very disappointed that such an expensive running shoe did not last at least 6 months, which is when I typically replace my running shoes. I do not recommend buying this shoe.
Pros: Very bouncy, fast, and overall quick shoe to run in. I have raced multiple 5K races in these and they performed every time.Cons: Durability is horrible, I own two pairs, and on each, the rubber on the bottom between the "airpods" and the main body of the shoe has broken between 100-200 miles.They are loud, and their shape makes it sound like you are clomping along at any speed it's especially bad on pavement.The laces are bad, too short, and they come undone if you do not double not them.It is hard to get your foot in even if they are the correct size due to the upper material and upper design.
Game-changing shoes for my injury-prone feet! I’m on my 4th pair of these, and I’ve had no plantar fasciitis or tendinitis. I get just under 200 miles on them, which is the most I get with any running shoes, before the cushion breaks down enough to replace them. As a forefoot runner, I LOVE the springiness under the front of the shoe. It feels like I’m being propelled forward. I use these mostly for training, but they are fine for racing, too, at my amateur level. I wear 1/2 size up in these vs. other running shoes.

I couldn't see myself picking this over a vaporfly/alpha fly for long and/or harder efforts. It's too unstable for trails and too cumbersome for track workouts. And for easy runs I didn't think I'd want a shoe with a plate (I'm a big fan of having different types of shoes in my rotation to stimulate the muscles in my legs/feet differently). I don't want a shoe that feels like it wants to go fast for easy days, and truthfully I don't think the tempo does. It works just fine at slower speeds.I've seen a fair share of negative reviews for this shoe online, and from my vantage point, this feels like the same issue that Nike had when the peg turbo first came out. And that issue is expectations -- this shoe is a training shoe. It's not a race day shoe. So it's not going to feel like a vaporfly or alphafly. It may share some of the same technologies and take design cues from those shoes, but it is neither of those shoes. It's heavier, less aggressive, and somewhat clunky feeling on feet (although not as bad as the zoom fly 2, it does have a weight distribution issue since the upper is a lot lighter than the rest of the shoe). But it is by no means a bad shoe. I very much enjoyed my time running in this shoe and believe it is definitely a step up over the zoom fly series. I still think that the peg turbo was an overall better training shoe, but the tempo does an admirable job trying to fill the void left by the discontinuation of the turbo.
