Wanted to start by saying I ordered these shoes because of how much I loved the Pegasus 36 Trails. My hope was that they would simply update that shoe with React foam and mostly leave it alone. Instead we got a whole new shoe but being a believer in the general direction of Nike running shoes and love trail running I wanted to give these a try. I have put about 25 miles on them in the first week and have been left wondering what went wrong.Let me start with things I like:- React foam is nice and supplies great cushioning- Gator like ankle seal is really comfortableDisappointments:- Weight of the shoe- Too much React foamOverall these shoes just left me feeling disconnected from the trail with the extreme stack height and the weight was way to noticeable ... MoreWanted to start by saying I ordered these shoes because of how much I loved the Pegasus 36 Trails. I have seen reviews that complain about the cushion (too much). I can already tell, after just 20 miles on this shoe, that the extra cushion is going to even out and ultimately, it will save the body a lot of impact (my lower legs have chronic muscular micro-tear problems). In that way, this is a niche shoe - where cushion matters more than weight. Yes, it weighs a little more, but after my third run on them today, I am already getting used to it and my pace was good. I will give you that walking on this shoe feels awkward, but running on this shoe is like running on clouds. Also, my last shoe was the Pegasus 36 Trail and the Trail 2 is WAY MORE STABLE on the trail! If anything changes, I will update this review.

I wanted to love this shoe, but I had some issues with it. I am 5’9 and 180ish lbs with really wide feet so I had to size up and it was good for both width and length. The two things I was disappointed in was that the lockdown (midfoot and heel) and stability. I really had to tighten everything (with a runners knot) and it was on a very fine line of cutting off my circulation to get the desired lockdown. I figure since it had a wider base it would be stable, but because there was so much foam it really made it unstable on even semi-buffed out trails and had very little ground feel (I think a rock plate with less foam would have fixed this or even just less foam). This shoe is definitely great for really buffed out trails with a minimum of rocks and/or roots. The ... MoreI wanted to love this shoe, but I had some issues with it. It was super comfy, but for me it was more style over substance (this is super cool looking shoe!). The traction was okay, but only ran in dry arid weather and didn’t get to run in them for wet weather conditions. I still think this is a great option for some people, but for me it wasn’t the greatest. Hopefully this review helps people out!

Ok so right out of the box these shoes were on the money! Obviously they look great. The fit was pretty true to size, with good heel stability & a roomy toe-box. What struck me was how cush the ride is. SUPER COMFORTABLE!! Great cushioning but not so much that you don't have a feel for the surface you're on.. The lug sole was very responsive & had good grip. I only did a 3.5mi run/hike but it had varying degrees of terrain and it was a great ride all the way through. If I had a con, it would be getting them on. I assume the strap in the back is to help pull them on? I don't know but I wouldn't trust it. Also, the sock-like liner at the heel was a bit tricky to straighten out. Lastly, I dunno what kind of space-age polymer Nike uses to make laces these days, but you ... MoreOk so right out of the box these shoes were on the money! Obviously they look great. Lastly, I dunno what kind of space-age polymer Nike uses to make laces these days, but you better tie double knots because they're going to come untied. DOUBLE KNOTS... what, am I in the 3rd grade? All these are minor however. If you are a heavier runner or just like a cushioned ride, then these are the kicks for you!
51 years old, 230lbs. I've not been running in years but am an avid hiker in the Los Angeles area. I've struggled a lot with knee issues. I've used Solomon, Hoka, Altra, and have even switch back to a nice boot with some very good Asolo's. I can't seem to stop the knee pain on a normal hike. Always downhill. Well, I purchased a pair of these and did a moderate 5 mile hike on a local trail with some adverse conditions for my maiden voyage. I was able to shave off nearly 15 minutes of my hike on this outing. My downhill speed is usually quite slow, but with these, the pain was a mumble at best instead of a shout.Pros - very cushy, but stable enough. Light, strong, breathable. They gripped so well I felt like spiderman, but did not go over any wet rocks in them. ... More51 years old, 230lbs. I've not been running in years but am an avid hiker in the Los Angeles area. They gripped so well I felt like spiderman, but did not go over any wet rocks in them. Cleaned off easily.Cons - I would not try edging with these. Found a little slippage on side to side. The lacing system could be a little better, but maybe I just need to work with them. I usually get a size 14 for athletic shoes and did with these, but found them to be a little large.Overall, I love these and hope they will continue. Next week, bridge to nowhere hike. See how they do with some water.
These shoes are a good improvement from the Trail Pegasus from last year. They greatly improved the durability, breathability and the sole of this shoe.It is about the same weight, maybe less than the previous shoe. The extra support on the bottom of the shoe is a minimal addition in weight. For trail running, these shoes have awesome traction. They don’t struggle scrambling up bare rock at all. Held up fine hiking some 14ers in Colorado just great, still look fresh to boot. These shoes do great on runs 5/7/10 miles. Haven’t taken them passed 12 but I’m sure they’ll hold up just fine.If you’re getting into trail running the Pegasus is a great shoe to try, provides more support than the Kiger or Wildhorse.
I have really enjoyed the Pegasus line for the past few years, since the 34. The Pegasus Trail 36, which took it's design queues from the Pegasus 36, is a great and comfortable trail shoe. The new Pegasus Trail 2 is a different shape and it looks like the Pegasus Trail 3 is about the same. The toe box has gotten a lot boxier, which is not my favorite look, and as a result it looks and feels pretty different than Pegasus for the last few years. The support is a good deal bulkier in the midsole and adds some height. It does feel stable and is comfortable. I do miss the look and feel of the Pegasus Trail 36 (although I still have 3 pairs in active rotation). Despite the comfort and stability, the look is not my favorite and am now actively searching for my next ... MoreI have really enjoyed the Pegasus line for the past few years, since the 34. I usually run on the road and am not a serious trail runner. I was worried that someone posted a negative video about Pegasus Trail 2 on YouTube. However, I got my Pegasus Trail 2 today and very happy about the shoes.Very thick React midsole makes me feel like I am wearing Infinity Run.It is a bit heavier than other Nike running shoes, but I am okay with it as I may not use Pegasus Trail 2 for my threshold day but only for easy running.Maybe that YouTuber is a very serious trail runner so that he must have different standards; however, for those who usually run on the road and try trails sometimes, Pegasus Trail 2 could be a very good option to consider.Size: I wear men size 9 for Infinity Run and Free Run and 8.5 for Pegasus Turbo 2. Where to start. The Nike Trail 2s are a completely different sneaker than the Pegasus 36 Trail GTX Which is low profile and ultra lightweight. Unfortunately the way they are the same is that there are 3 mm wider in the forefoot than the Road version of the Pegasus. The Nike Trail 2 have a rounded toe-box which I do not like and it feels slightly sloppy. I like a performance fit. The toe fang is a nice protective element and it’s not noticeable whatsoever. The positives are that they came in Black but I would’ve preferred the React foam mid-sole to come in Black as well. The React foam is amazing and super cushy and comfortable for every-day all-day use especially if you’re standing on your feet all day. The React foam is amazing and super cushy and comfortable for every-day all-day use especially if you’re standing on your feet all day. But due to the stack height which I like lacks serious stability. Just walking you can roll your ankle, which is not good! I could care less about weight, I care about quality and durability. The materials used a really nice especially for the price range. I personally expect every trail sneaker to come in Gore-Tex. The proper treads are finally back on some Nike sneakers! The treads are perfect for concrete, tarmac, broken-up tarmac, grass, packed dirt, and gravel. I expect all my sneakers to have quality grip! I really like the rip-stop material in the back heel. I also like the durability of the soft semi gator. I would’ve liked to seen the gator come up 2" inches at least, it’s super elasticized so anyone should be able to get their foot in to the sneaker with no problem. The material is also utilized in the interior heel cup which is slightly slippery. There’s also a padded heel-pad supposedly to lock your heal in. But it is 2 mm too low, so it doesn’t work the way it was designed to. That’s why some other reviewers were commenting on there’s some heel slippage. The neoprene tongue is nice. But what I really like is the center of the climbing shoelace in the forefoot that enables low to medium volume feet to not slop around as much. It does have a wider toe-box and yes they run true to size in length. This is a true hybrid sneaker, which is an important category I'd like to see get way more advanced. Nike Running inner-souls are the best they’ve ever made. This model offers just medium arch support, I need and prefer more arch support especially in a running sneaker. I can’t recommend these for hard-core trail usage, because I think you will roll your ankle in minutes. To me ACG’s and Nike's trail sneakers are still not there yet. They have long way to come to get to the next level. I hope Nike and Nike Designers put more research and money into these projects, which I feel are a necessary category especially since I don’t live in the city anymore. Especially since Nike has downgraded the beloved Nike Air Max and are now considered fashion sneakers, and do not offer the quality and durability that they used to have. I think it’s a try and a bye, would love to have them in Gore-Tex! And the horizontal pull-tab makes it really easy to grab and slip-on than a vertical one. I would’ve preferred a mid-gator for a little bit of additional ankle support and to keep out any dust and debris. I like the drop and I also like the heel height as I prefer my sneakers tipped down for a more aggressive stance. But for a true trail sneaker Nike really needs to add some kind of carbon fiber plate in the mid-foot for better stability. I feel they run true to size and are worth the asking price, I would pay more for a Gore-Tex version. I do not run anymore, but I’m an old-school hard-core athlete/soccer player so I know good footwear when I see it, also as a former Sneaker Designer, I expect performance and support even for every-day wear! And as I've always stated to corporate, if there's footwear that's popular make it in two different widths, one Performance Width which is what I need and desire, and one Wide Width to make every end-user happy.Keep pushing a Design limits!
Normally, I would go half size bigger because I like more room at the toes and I don't want tying and untying shoes. But for this one, it just look huge plus the rear bumper is too much. The toe box is perfect but the heel just have an extra bumper. Though it has this collar or loop for you to pull in your heel (I guess that is what is for) that might just get caught if you really take this to some bushy trails. But the inner heel cushion or pillow is too low that it will not help your heel stay in other than to give cushion around your heel but leaving a little gap for little rocks or sand to fill your shoes. And for that reason I'm not getting the size exchange but returning it. Otherwise, it's a good looking shoes.
